Guitar Hero 2: Rocks the 80s

80's rock band, The Romantics, have taken out a law suit against Activision for the cover version of their song "What I Like About You" from the game Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s, claiming the track "improperly imitates the band's sound that the members have developed since 1979" and that it is "virtually indistinguishable from the authentic version" presumably confusing consumers into thinking the band rerecorded the track for the game. Hilarious. Never mind the fact Activision clearly marks whether a song is the original or a cover by marking them "As Made Famous By" or simply "By". How about The Romantics have probably realised there's a ton of cash involved in the franchise, they're still bitter about not being big beyond the 80s and so invariably want to rake in what they can from Activision.

The suit, which has been made against Activision, RedOctane, Harmonix and WaveGroup Sounds alleges a "violation of the right of publicity, false endorsement and unfair competition" has been made. None of the companies involved have issued any statements regarding the claim.
