You can now pre-purchase The Orange Box on Steam for $44.95 USD (which currently works out to around $54 AUD)
The Orange Box features three highly-awaited new games by Valve: Half-Life® 2: Episode Two, the second installment in the Half-Life 2 episodic trilogy; Team Fortress® 2, the sequel to the game that put class-based, multiplayer team warfare on the map; and Portal, the game that blends puzzles, first person action, and adventure gaming to produce an experience like no other.

To bring gamers up to date with the Half-Life 2 universe, The Orange Box also includes Half-Life 2, the best-selling and highest-rated action game series of all time, and the episodic debut Half-Life® 2: Episode One.
You will also be able to participate in the TF2 beta if you pre-purchase.
Starting Monday, September 17, those who pre-purchase The Orange Box via Steam can download and activate the beta release of Team Fortress 2 (TF2).

This is so very very cool! I didnt know they packed all these games into one! And for only $54 thats a steal!

I've played HL, HL2, HL:EP1 and been waiting for EP2 since the minute I finished EP1.... Also used to play TF back in the Quake 1 days... 1996? :D so looking forward to trying that!

When is the Orange Box officially released? Also, does anyone know how many GB the download for this is?

Id rather have a hard copy, but for that price would settle for steam...

Does anyone know how many GB orange box is predicted to be? Tried finding it on the steam site but cannot get any info... I dont wanna get half of it and then be stuck waiting to be uncapped :(

Niklaos, thanks for that info! 1.3gb for all those seems very small! I remember my HL2 installation to be over 2gb from memory, or more.... they must have some super compression going! Or it doesnt show u the actual size until later?

I'd love to get it but the size worriese me.... think I'll sing up to steam and ask on their forum.

so around 3gb for TF2... EP2 would be probably around the same, if not more! Thats about 6+, but most likely 8+ going by the size of games and demos these days!

Ahhh what happened to the days when I thought I'd never use up my 120mb hard drive :D

!!!!! Just ordered also! I was not a fan of the steam system when it came out, but I have to say its very easy to get games as long as you have a fast connection! Its well designed!

Found my old account, and noticed I could download and play HL1, Blue Shift, Opposing Force, DOD and CS!!!! Just tried a few all worked, thats pretty neat!

Preloading TF2 now... whish it would go faster, is there a way? I have set connection at 10mb +... its only doing 500 to 700kb/sec :(

Mine downloads at around 500 to 700kb/sec, I was hoping for more but its ok. Got TF2 in a few hours. Think mine is getting everything from the internode network, as this shows up everywhere on steam... wish there was a way to set it...

I have very little experience with steam, but am convinced this is the way to go for TF2

I have 2 computers I wish to install TF2 onto, does anyone know if I can do this without downloading each file twice?

You can do backups in steam, file > backup game or right click on the game you want.

Then simply run the backup on the other pc....

Rather dissapointed in Valve about this... seems just like HL2 back in 2004...

I pre-purchased early to get TF2 today (monday 17th) not tomorrow or another day... they are happy to take payments on the minute, but cannot deliver on their promised and advertised date!

As for different time zones, I think each time zone should have the same release date, weather its GTM or PST doesnt matter, Im happy to wait 8 hours for PST to click over in the states... but being delayed like this is total BS...

Obviously loki, boba and khel are still yet to enter the world of business, marketing and advertising... one day you will realise what misleading advertising is.

I wont get into an argument with you 3 boys, but you can visit steampowered.com and see that it clearly states pre purchased copies will be able to access the beta on the 17th of September, no country specified, steam is worldwide except for German content packs.

Therefore the statement is misleading to the purchaser, whether it be a beta or not.

Yes I understand that and said in my first winge post that I dont care about the time zones, as long as its 17th... but going by the csnation reports it might not make it till Wed our time, which is misleading!
