Activision announce today that they have signed Peter Molyneux and his company Lionhead Studio’s, creators of the famed Black and White which sold almost two million copies worldwide, to a muti-year deal to publish their work. This includes the upcoming Molyneux game The Movies to be released across PC and Console Platforms:
Slated for release in 2004, The Movies gives gamers the opportunity to run their own Hollywood movie studio from the silent days of the 1920s, through the advent of new technologies into the present and beyond. The game puts players in charge of a Hollywood dream factory where they decide which movies to make and the stars to make them. The player selects the scripts, directors, sets and movie stars before shooting the action and watching their finished movie on opening night. Players can manage the money, egos, tears & tantrums on their way to living the Hollywood dream.
Its interesting to note that Peter Molyneux has been a very vocal member of the Game Developer community, stating some interesting views on issues like Publishers and the current cost of Game titles to us, the gamers. Peter Molyneux’s last title, Black and White was published by EA Studio’s, at this stage no reason has been given for the switch from EA to Activision but I’m sure a few around would be willing to take a stab at it! Dungeon Keeper 3 or Theme Hospital 2 would be much better :) Wacky concepts that worked and were fun.

In the last year, how many games have shipped in an unfinished/incomplete state... let's see, just off the top of my head...
Battlefield 1942...
Sim City 4...
Command and Conquer Generals...
Feel free to add to this list too!
