Activision announce today that they have signed Peter Molyneux and his company Lionhead Studioís, creators of the famed Black and White which sold almost two million copies worldwide, to a muti-year deal to publish their work. This includes the upcoming Molyneux game The Movies to be released across PC and Console Platforms:
Slated for release in 2004, The Movies gives gamers the opportunity to run their own Hollywood movie studio from the silent days of the 1920s, through the advent of new technologies into the present and beyond. The game puts players in charge of a Hollywood dream factory where they decide which movies to make and the stars to make them. The player selects the scripts, directors, sets and movie stars before shooting the action and watching their finished movie on opening night. Players can manage the money, egos, tears & tantrums on their way to living the Hollywood dream.
Its interesting to note that Peter Molyneux has been a very vocal member of the Game Developer community, stating some interesting views on issues like Publishers and the current cost of Game titles to us, the gamers. Peter Molyneuxís last title, Black and White was published by EA Studioís, at this stage no reason has been given for the switch from EA to Activision but Iím sure a few around would be willing to take a stab at it!
