Activision have sent through a press release announcing the upcoming follow-up to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, looking at the new features on offer:
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory offers gamers a unique, squad-based single player game, enlisting players as the leader of an elite Allied force throughout a series of mission-based scenarios that range from Western Europe to the deserts of Egypt. Players must tactically command their troops through hostile enemy positions to accomplish specific mission objectives, while also ensuring the survival of key team members. Throughout the game, veteran squad leaders earn additional skills and gain equipment via field promotions that remain persistent across several maps.
Mention is also made of "2-player co-operative play", which will be awesome - about time we started seeing some more co-operative multiplayer action (please, Doom 3, please)! The press release goes into quite a bit of detail and is really worth a read if you're into serious multiplayer gaming - looks like they'll be raising the bar even further with this one than originally anticipated - it doesn't look so much like an expansion pack any more as it does a full sequel.

Serious Sam was great fun coop, however I too agree that prolonged play (2hrs+) and it would get boooring. Still, it is good to see more coop available, albeit a max of 2 players!! Wish there could be more, but ahh well, I guess wait till Doom 3 if they have it ;)
