But we may have to wait a while, as Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard might not wrap until mid-2023. But, as part of a new post outlining Xbox's plans, Phil Spencer confirms that the intention for the deal is to add "Overwatch, Diablo and Call of Duty" to Game Pass across cloud, console, and PC.

As per a new report over at gamesindustry.biz we've got word that the UK based Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has made a decision that Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard into the Xbox family "may be expected to result in a substantial lessening of competition within a market or markets in the United Kingdom".

Halo Infinite not only had a rocky road to release, after all it was originally planned as an Xbox Series X|S launch title, but it's post-launch support has been lacking to say the least. Today we've got word from Halo studio 343 Industries that the promised split-screen co-op mode is being scrapped, alongside the live service Season 3 content update being pushed back to 2023.

Coming in 2023 from New Zealand-based, Black Salt Games and Team 17, DREDGE is a fishing game with a dark twist in its murky depths. Single-player and cute as all get up in its art-style, it might not be casting a line our way until next year, but this annoucement trailer has us hooked on its promise.

Sony has acquired Savage Game Studios, a fledgling AAA mobile development studio made up of ex-Rockstar, Wargaming, Rovio and Next Games peeps, which has been working on a live service action game up until this point. The acquisition folds the studio into the PlayStation Studios family but running as part of a newly-created PlayStation Studios Mobile Division, keeping its operation separate to the console business.

As part of a launch event for the new Zen 4 powered AMD Ryzen 7000 series of desktop processors, AMD CEO and president Lisa Su closed out the CPU showcase with a little GPU teaser. The Radeon RX 7000 series was not only confirmed to be running on next-gen RDNA 3 (“Navi 3”) based 5nm architecture, but is on track for launch later this year.

AMD has lifted the lid on its next-gen line-up of CPUs for PC, built on cutting edge 5nm “Zen 4” architecture. These new desktop CPUs (that will also make their way to the laptop space) have been designed primarily for “gaming and creation”. Much more than a tagline, we can expect massive gains in performance and efficiency. So much so that the the budget friendly AMD Ryzen 5 7600X beats Intel’s top 12th-gen Core 19 12900K in game performance.

It was only a matter of time before we moved on from 8 and 16-bit homages and into the worlds of the PSOne and N64, the former being today's visual goal for this Indie horror gem, The Fridge is Red.

Developed by 5WORD and published through tinyBuild, this first-person anthology series is all about tone and unease as players explore the recesses of the mind of a hapless appliances repairman who may or may not be going mad.

It's hard to not to poke fun at the trope-laden worlds of JRPG storytellers. And smack bang in the middle of most narratives throughout the JRPG landscape is drama. Soul Hackers 2, from Atlus and SEGA, fits this mold perfectly and is now available for PlayStation and Xbox.

Diablo II: Resurrected is an impressive and faithful remaster of the iconic action-RPG, one that managed to keep the core gameplay whilst giving the visuals a proper modern makeover. And now, after a patch that introduced new items and balancing to the game for the first time in many, many, years, Diablo 2 is getting a new mode of sorts.

This year’s forthcoming GTC Conference by industry-leading technology company, NVIDIA, will be headed up by CEO Jensen Huang who will deliver the event’s opening keynote announcing new AI and Metaverse technologies, NVIDIA has announced.

NVIDIA GTC will run virtually in Australia this September 20-23 and features “more than 200 sessions with global business and technology leaders”. On the gaming front we all know about NVIDIA Geforce RTX, but the company is also a leader in the AI and enterprise space.

Skull and Bones is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on November 8 - and today Ubisoft has detailed the hardware you'll need to enjoy the game on modest specs plus push its visuals into the ray-tracing realm. As per the list the game will support real-time ray-tracing in the form of global illumination.

That headline comes with a very big "yet" at its tail though. And this confirmation, by way of Windows Central, feels more reactive than firm. Still, if we've learnt anything about strategy in console wars over the years, it's to do the opposite of what's riling up the fan-base of your rival, which in this case is Sony's mark up of RRP for the PS5 in numerous markets around the world.
