Relic have updated Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine with the following:
Patch Notes:
Added mute all functionality and push to talk
Fixed ‘butterfly’ exploit.
Update matchmaking parameters to search for local matches longer.
Fixed a crash when cancelling a search
Fixed an issue where profile progress would not be saved properly if steam cloud was disabled.
So this game might actually be playable online now, rather than us Aussies being matched with Russians... promoted/edited forum item

Fans of the Warhammer 40K universe should be glad to see that THQ is showing off a little bit more of their upcoming third-person action RPG, Space Marine, that’s slated to hit later this year. Although mostly revolving around battling those pesky Orks, the latest trailer reveals that Warhammer fans will also be taking on the Chaos faction.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine takes place in the brutal, science fiction setting of Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 universe. In the 41st Millennium, humanity faces extinction at the hands of horrific aliens and demonic hordes. Only one force offers salvation, the superhuman Space Marines. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is an intense Action-RPG featuring epic battles where players take direct control of the ultimate defender of humanity, the mighty Space Marine. Space Marine is currently in development at THQ’s internal studio Relic Entertainment for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 systems. In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war.
We've also uploaded some new screenshots onto the game page.

There's a good chance we'll know more specifics about this next week, so stay tuned on that, but according to Eurogamer, publisher THQ has given a release window of August for the Relic-developed shooter based in the world of Warhammer 40K.

They also revealed that you won't only be shooting thousands of Orks, which is all we got to really see when we saw the game at last year's Tokyo Game Show, but also Chaos troops, who the publisher says will add a more strategic element to combat - something we severely hope is true.

We'll have more on Warhammer 40K: Space Marine in the not-too-distant future, so stay tuned.

We have a short and sweet interview treat for you today, with a chat we had with relic Entertainment's Andy Lang about the upcoming action-shooter, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine.

In typical AusGamers fashion, we have the interview in both video and trancribed form, so you can check it out either way, but essentially Andy chats about what makes this game different to other similar action-shooters on the market, what players can expect in regards to the setting and overall lore and baulks at the question of co-op ;)

THQ have announced that the previously console-only action title Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, currently in the works at Relic Entertainment (Company of Heroes, Dawn of War), will now also be shipping on Windows PC, in addition to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Combining intense melee and ranged combat, Space Marine puts players into the boots of one of humanity's elite soldiers, genetically engineered and equipped with state of the art weapons and armor. Players are dropped right into the action as they battle to defend an Imperial Forge World, from an invasion by the savage and brutal Orks, using the most devastating weaponry mankind has at its disposal.

Jonathan Dowdeswell, General Manager of Relic Entertainment commented: "The loyal PC audience is incredibly important to us here at Relic so we are delighted to be able to announce the PC version of the game."

Travis Plane, Vice President of Global Brand Management commented: "Delivering great content the fans want to play is the key goal in the core games division at THQ so we are pulling out all of the stops to make this the best possible game for PC and console audiences alike."
The press release doesn't mention any disparity between the different platform's release dates, so at this stage based on THQ's recent multi-platform launches, we can probably assume a simultaneous release for both console and PC in "early 2011".

THQ have let loose the first ever screens for the Relic Entertainment-developed Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines, a third-person action adventure 'hack and slash', squad-based shooter set in the famous 40K universe.

There's currently no official release date for the game, but it will be landing on Xbox 360 and PS3 with no mention of the PC thus far (fingers crossed though).
