The second round of DLC for Transformers: War For Cybertron, Character and Map Pack 2, is now available for download from the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.

The pack offers two new playable characters for multiplayer, Zeta Prime and Dead End, and offers up a further five maps. Two Escalation maps, Pulse (Autobots) and Static (Decepticon) and three competitive maps: Horizon, Sector and Metropolis.

Pulse sounds cool, because it's actually set inside Trypticon - the massive Decepticon. If anyone grabs these, be sure to let us know how they play.

High Moon Studios have delivered their first bout of DLC for their well-received Transformers: War For Cybertron. The new content opens up the game's already robust multiplayer with four all-new maps and five new transformers to play as.
The additional TRANSFORMERS characters entering the pack include SCATTERSHOT, ONSLAUGHT, SHOCKWAVE, DEMOLISHOR and JAZZ. Players have access to all five characters in the game's adrenaline-pumping, four-player co-op Escalation mode, and will be able to select their chassis to create their own TRANSFORMERS character in competitive multiplayer.
The content is available now from both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace for AU$15.95 and 800MS points respectively.

We were lucky enough to get a very early look at Transformers: War For Cybertron out at High Moon Studios' pad in San Diego earlier in the year, and walked away very happy with what we saw. The team were clearly treating the license with the reverence it has so sorely needed over past many years, which is why we gave review duties to Kosta.

Life is just so unfair on him these days, as a tie and 9-5 jockey, he sits day-dreaming at the breakfast table; coffee going cold, cornflakes too soggy to eat, reminiscing of better times - a time when robots from a far away planet with no roads still somehow managed to transform into Earth-shaped vehicles and speak English - because in the 80s, real plots didn't matter.

Thankfully Transformers: War For Cybertron has given him an escape from real-life monotony, which he happily shares with us all here today in his review.

Activision have sent through a neat trailer showcasing some of the multiplayer gameplay slaw you can expect in the upcoming action title, Transforms: War for Cybertron.
or the first time in a TRANSFORMERS game, fans can play through each adrenaline-fuelled campaign, as AUTOBOTS or DECEPTICONS, with friends around the world in drop-in/drop-out online co-operative play, and compete against one another in a bevy of intense multiplayer game modes as their very own user-created characters.

AusGamers was recently invited out to High Moon Studios in San Diego to check out their latest project, Transformers: War for Cybertron.

Apart from having one of the coolest designed studios on the planet, High Moon have also landed themselves one heck of a license to play with, and while the usual anti-licensed gaming rule still applies to a lot of games out there, it most certainly does not with this.

Fans of anything Transfomers will eat this up, as will hardcore gamers in general - it's shaping up to be the Transformers game you've always wanted. Trust us.

Offering a much better glimpse at High Moon Studios' new Transformers concept than the previous teaser trailer, Activision have released a debut reveal trailer for Transformers: War for Cybertron.
Transformers: War for Cybertron features two distinct storylines: the AUTOBOT campaign tells a story of heroism to save their home planet against overwhelming odds, and the DECEPTICON campaign tells a story of an unquenchable thirst for power to control the universe. For the first time in a TRANSFORMERS title, fans will be able to play the game with their friends through team-based online co-op, or go head to head in a variety of intense, online multiplayer game modes. The game features a sci-fi art style that introduces to fans the entire living, metallic world of CYBERTRON, as well as all-new visualisations of the iconic TRANSFORMERS characters in their original Cybertronian forms.
Today's clip is only a cinematic video, so no real indication of the gameplay as yet, but it's sure looking a damn site better than the recent movie-game tie-ins. See for yourself right here on AusGamers.

Transformers: War for Cybertron is in the pipeline for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and both Nintendo Wii and DS, currently eyeing off a non-specific 2010 release.
