After revealing in June that successful Kickstarter title The Banner Saga would be heading to iPad, Windows and Android tablets, publisher Versus Evil has announced that the team are aiming for a September release.

Stoic's Viking-themed role-playing strategy game launched on Windows and Mac back in January, and the tablet version is said to feature controls reworked for touchscreens. It will be listed as a premium title, though no price has yet been determined.

Sold Out Sales & Marketing Ltd. announced today a collector’s edition for indie turn-based strategy game The Banner Saga.

This is the game’s first physical release and will include its official soundtrack, as well as an add-on called the “Insane Viking Pack” – something previously offered as a preorder bonus, but now exclusively available through this collector’s edition.

“This is the definitive version of the game,” says James Cato, Sales Director of Sold Out Sales. “We’ve worked really closely with Stoic to create a pack which does their stunning game justice – we know it’ll go down well with fans new and old alike.”

The Banner Saga: The Collector’s Edition will release on PC on July 25th for £19.99 British Pounds – roughly $36 AUD.

Successful Kickstarter title The Banner Saga will be heading to iPad, Windows and Android tablets come later this year, publisher Versus Evil announced today.

Stoic's Viking-themed role-playing strategy game launched on Windows and Mac back in January, and the tablet version is said to feature controls reworked for touchscreens. It will be listed as a premium title, though no price has yet been determined. Stoic also announced that The Banner Saga has been localized and is now available in French, German, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish languages for PC and Mac.

"Releasing The Banner Saga in multiple languages is a promise we made to our backers when we launched our Kickstarter in 2012,” technical director John Watson said.

"We are happy to be able to keep this promise by finally releasing the game in multiple languages. In addition to PC and Mac the game will also be available in multiple languages on mobile devices when we launch the game later this summer and look forward to sharing this experience with a whole new audience."

Fans of BioWare-styled storytelling and Nintendo's Fire Emblem series are in a bit of luck, where The Banner Saga is concerned.

The game's small development team consists of ex-BioWare peeps and the style of game they've gone for, is built around the tactics/turn-based RPG rules of games like Nintendo's aforementioned beloved series. It also has some pretty slick art to flesh out its narrative and story bits and, well, with all of these factors in front of you, you could be forgiven for diving right on in. But you might want to read Kosta "Toadovsky" Andreadis' review first, because as great as all these ingredients sound, there's always room for trouble, right?

As the release date nears for Stoic's The Banner Saga, the indie developer has released a new tutorial style trailer for the forthcoming crowdfunded tactical RPG.
The “Rough Guide to Combat” tutorial video covers the basics that a beginner needs to consider when preparing for battle and the tactics they need to think about while in the heat of combat.

Highlights of the video include an overview of the hero stats a player should keep an eye on: armor, strength, willpower, exertion and break, as well as a focus on how ‘willpower’ can also be used strategically to boost various actions in combat to take out an enemy.
Check out a few new screenshots and watch the video below.

The Banner Saga is due on January 14th 2013 on Windows and Mac
