Forspoken is a game that consistently fails to deliver, despite some lofty ideas, and manages only to impress in the most obscure moments.

Apart from Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force, Trek-based games have rarely been worth your attention, often stretching the patience of even the most die-hard Trekkie, but with the series' recent reboot at the hands of JJ Abrams, there's potential for an equal fresh start in the videogame realm, if only at the hands of the right publisher and dev studio.

Today Namco Bandai has announced a partnership with Paramount pictures to publish and distribute the recently unveiled Star Trek videogame being developed by Digital Extremes (The Darkness II, Homefront PC, BioShock 2 Multiplayer). The game is a stand-alone story based in Abram's reimagined Trek universe, and will release in early 2013 ahead of the hotly anticipated Star Trek movie sequel.

Here's hoping Digital Extremes can maintain the high level polish of the first movie (and hopefully second), and finally give fans a game they can be proud of.

Paramount Games have announced a new game for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC that will take continue the awesome adventure of the 2009 Star Trek movie with an "unprecedented co-op experience":
The game, which continues the adventure that director and producer J.J. Abrams envisioned with Star Trek (2009), boasts a stand alone story filled with action-packed combat as Kirk and Spock must work together to stop a legendary enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy.

Star Trek features an original story by BAFTA award winner and God of War writer, Marianne Krawczyk, in collaboration with the writer/producers of the new Star Trek films, Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman.
It's being developed by Digital Extremes, who have worked on some little games you might have heard of like BioShock and Unreal Tournament.

We'll certainly hear more about this one at E3 - at the moment only a single screenshot has been released, which is on our game page. Stay tuned Trekkies!
