As promised during its successful Kickstarter campaign, Hairbrained Schemes has now made a DRM-free version of the crowdfunded Shadowrun Returns available by way of GOG.com.
The DRM-free version of the game will continue to be fully supported and you'll be able to download all game patches, use the Shadowrun Returns editor and experience user-generated content downloaded from third-party sites such as Nexus. If you are a Kickstarter Backer or pre-ordered the game, we are happy to send you a GOG key if you contact us at info@hbs-studios.com.
Compatible with both Windows and Mac OS, Shadowrun Returns can currently be had for US$11.99. A DRM-free Linux version is also reportedly coming soon, however as GOG doesn't currently support Linux, it will instead soon be made available on the Humble Store.

The promised expansion Shadowrun: Dragonfall is also expected to be delivered on both GOG and Humble Store when it launches in January 2014.

After their successful Kickstarter project garnered $1,836,447 early last year, developer Jordan Weisman and the team at Hairbrained Schemes have finally revealed the launch date for their 2D tactical title Shadowrun Returns, now slated for release on July 25.
The year is 2054. Magic has returned to the world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Technology merges with flesh and consciousness. Elves, trolls, orks and dwarves walk among us, while ruthless corporations bleed the world dry. You are a shadowrunner -- a mercenary living on the fringes of society, in the shadows of massive corporate arcologies, surviving day-by-day on skill and instinct alone. When the powerful or the desperate need a job done, you get it done... by any means necessary.

The unique cyberpunk-meets-fantasy world of Shadowrun has gained a huge cult following since its creation nearly 25 years ago. Now, creator Jordan Weisman returns to the world of Shadowrun, modernizing this classic game setting as a single player, turn-based tactical RPG.
Currently the title will be launching first on Steam for PC, with a standard edition for $17.99 and a deluxe edition for $31.49.

Check out the launch trailer below.

After their successful Kickstarter project garnered $1,836,447 early last year, developer Jordan Weisman and the team at Hairbrained Schemes have revealed pre-orders for their 2D tactical title Shadowrun Returns.
Based on the venerable Shadowrun tabletop roleplaying game of the 80s and a spiritual successor to the console games of the 90s, Shadowrun Returns brings back one of our most original & cherished game settings as a single player, turn-based tactical RPG.

The year is 2054 and your old friend Sam has been murdered in Seattle. You’ve been hired to find the killers and bring them to justice, one way or another. Soon you’ll be embroiled in a mystery that expands from missing organs, an antagonistic detective and biker gangs all the way up to the dynastic control of one of the largest Megacorps.
The game is currently available in two editions, a standard edition for $17.99 and a deluxe edition for $31.49. The Deluxe edition offers a soundtrack that includes composers of the much-loved Shadowrun SEGA and SNES games and also a Shadowrun Returns anthology; an illustrated PDF of short stories written for the game and edited by Jordan Weisman, the creator of Shadowrun.

Check it out over at the Steam page. Shadowrun Returns will be available on July 2013.

After successfully gaining $1,836,447 in funding from their Kickstarter program early last year, developer Jordan Weisman and the team at Hairbrained Schemes have revealed a first look at their 2D tactical title Shadowrun Returns with a new alpha gameplay trailer.
Okay, the wait is over! Here's what we've been up to for the last nine or ten months. The Harebrained team is pleased to bring you this gameplay walkthrough video for Shadowrun Returns narrated by Jordan and Mitch. While no Bothans died to bring you this information, it's been a wild ride to get to this point and there's still plenty to do.
Weighing in at just under 20 minutes and narrated by Jordan and Mitch of the Harebrained team, the trailer offers a great look at just where the team are in regards to development of the 2D turn-based RPG revival including a look at the fictional Seattle 2054, the character development system, corporations, combat and more.

Check it out below along with a handful of new concept shots which will hopefully translate into the game at some stage.

Shadowrun Returns is slated for an early Summer 2013 release. If you missed out on the Kickstarter program you can pre-order over at their official website.
