Croteam has announced that the latest addition to the very Serious Sam series is now available for purchase on Xbox LIVE, giving players the chance to make things go boom. Serious Sam 3: BFE will be available in two parts, the singleplayer and co-op and then the new Jewel of the Nile DLC and Versus mode.
Serious Sam 3: BFE is a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom. Serving as a prequel to the original indie sensation, Serious Sam: The First Encounter, Serious Sam 3 takes place during the Earth’s final struggle against Mental’s invading legions of beasts and mercenaries. Set against the collapsing temples of an ancient civilization and the crumbling cities of 22nd century Egypt, Serious Sam 3 is an exhilarating fusion of classic twitch shooters and modern gameplay features.
You can check out the trailer below, and if this fancies your manly appetite you can grab each pack for 1200 MS Points.

We've only recently had official confirmation that a native Linux client was being developed for Valve's popular Steam digital games platform, and we still don't have a release date for it, but now we know that there will be at least one other game to play, in addition to Valve's own Left 4 Dead 2.

Croteam and Devolver Digital have announced that their recent shooter Serious Sam 3: BFE (AusGamers 7.8/10) is coming to Linux and that it will include Steamworks integration and achievement support "because penguins like to blow shit up too".
Fork Parker, chief financial officer at Devolver Digital said, “We’re in the process of integrating Steamworks and achievements and the whole shebang, but we can’t get the little fucker of a penguin to stand still.”

Parker continued, “The last time I had anything ‘Open Sourced’ I was in Thailand, if you catch my drift.”
A screenshot featuring Linux mascot Tux the penguin can be seen here, running natively on a Ubuntu desktop.

The Steam Linux client still has no official date attached, but Devolver's plans to launch Serious Sam "in 2012" suggest that it should be here before the year's end -- give or take a year or two to account for the Valve Time principle.

The AusGamers holiday review roll out continues today with a look in at what Croteam have done with their latest Serious Sam offering.

Serious Sam 3: BFE is a new entry in the series running off the team's new tech, and as NachosJustice explains, it's the shiniest Sam yet. But the series has never been known as a graphics pusher, but rather an industry-wide tongue-in-cheek affair that pokes as much fun at itself as the rest of the gaming world; teaching players to run backwards rather than forwards and to never trust a headless, bomb-for-hands screaming madman.

Previously earmarked for October 18, The PC launch of Croteam's upcoming oldschool shooter sequel Serious Sam 3: BFE has been pushed back to November 23rd 2011. According to a press release, the reason for the delay is because they're "adding in more polish and sweet, sweet action"
“Serious Sam 3: BFE is the next evolution in our beloved franchise and the team wants to take a little extra time to make it perfect for Serious Sam fans worldwide,” said Davor Hunski, Chief Creative Guy at Croteam. “The game is playing wonderfully and looks great so we are going through to balance the difficulty and fine tune the code to eliminate any technical issues at launch. And we’ll probably add some more enemies to the hordes to blow your mind.”
Of course, it wouldn't be a Serious Sam 3 press release without the obligatory quip from Devolver Digital CFO, who reminds us that he's suffering just as much as eager gamers from the wait:
“Looks like the wife is going to have to wait on pumping up the milk pillows until I’m rolling in that filthy Serious Sam3: BFE cash money,” said Fork Parker, Devolver Digital CFO. “Nobody likes a half-assed titjob. Nobody.”
Serious Sam 3: BFE is currently available for PC pre-order at a 10% discount over on Steam. The game is also still expected on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but no official word of launch dates for those platforms has been confirmed.

IGN have got their hands on the first trailer and some new screenshots and information from the recently announced Serious Sam 3: BFE:
In Croteam's Serious Sam 3, you won't find pan-global terrorist conspiracies or highly trained, heavily bearded teams of death specialists trekking into enemy installations to strike at high value targets. No, in Serious Sam 3, there won't be anything remotely serious. Instead, you'll again square off against hordes of murderous aliens with superpowered weaponry and revel in the unbelievable spectacle of non-stop, frantic action.

It still hasn't been formally announced, but the first screenshot purportedly from Croteam's Serious Sam 3 has surfaced on the official Facebook fan page.

The Croatian developer's CEO Roman Ribaric recently revealed that the game titled "Serious Sam 3: BFE" (we still have no idea what BFE stands for) is coming this summer 2011 -- winter for those of us in the southern hemisphere.

Not much else is known about the long-awaited sequel, other than that it will be powered by Croteam's Serious Engine 3. It is expected that the game will be released on PC and given the recent "Serious Sam HD" releases, Xbox 360 is also very likely.
