Gamers who are concerned that there won't be enough limb flailing, head rolling hysterics in NeverDead will be pleased to know that Konami have today announced the details for the first DLC pack, ahead of the retail release.
The Expansion Pack offers the user the chance to control a fashionable, charismatic pop-idol called Nikki Summerfield within NeverDead’s cooperative online challenges, and take part in three new challenges within the reworked Asylum stage. These include:

  • Egg Hunt: Scour the expanded Asylum level for collectables scoring points by delivering them to designated ‘Score Zones’. Opponents will try to snatch any that you drop along the way, while enemy ambush points and environmental hazards at every turn up the ante.

  • Fragile Alliance: A competitive race through a number of checkpoints spread across the map. Users can interrupt their rivals’ progress by attacking each other. This mode also sees the number of environmental hazards and enemy spawn points upped for additional challenge.

  • Onslaught: Unlock the entire Asylum level section-by-section by defeating all enemies. Demon-seals that block off areas will dissipate as you defeat enemies from the previous area, providing more-controlled player movement and encounters.
  • Also included in the expansion pack is two new costumes for online users to dress their Bryce in.

NeverDead is rolling into stores February 16th 2012 for Australians, and the DLC will be available February 22nd 2012. Check out the screenshots below detailing the new DLC pack and leave us a comment on your thoughts.

Facing the ever-popular modern concept of videogame immortality, without context, seems silly when you think about it. No one could ever just hide for a few seconds after being shot and then get back on their feet and into the fight. But it happens in most current games, and no one seems to mind.

It's cool then when certain developers see this and broach it. Whether it's in old-school permanent health deterioration, health-pack collection or writing the main character as a cursed immortal - destined to walk the Earth, but never dying, such as the protagonist in NeverDead.

James "Jickle" O'Connor tackles this idea and the interesting gameplay opportunities it presents for us, and you can see what he thought of the game by clicking right here.

NeverDead, the action packed, limb-detaching, head flailing title from brain child Shinta Nojiri, who previously directed the creation of Metal Gear Acid series, gets some new screenshots before it's release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

NeverDead stars an immortal hero named Bryce Boltzmann who, alongside his partner Arcadia, works for an agency tasked with defeating demonic incursions. Having the ability to freely detach your limbs definitely makes for an interesting gameplay element, one that can change the outcome of winning or losing.

NeverDead is being released in stores on January 31st on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Check out some of the new screenshots below, or head over to our game page for more.

About a year ago, Konami announced the existence of a third-person shooter set in the not-so-distant future that had you protecting the world from a supernatural scourge. Hardly novel, right? Where NeverDead gets interesting is in the core gameplay mechanic that makes the immortal anti-hero you play as quite literally comes to pieces throughout the game.
“NEVERDEAD is a third-person action title set in a fantasy and horror-influenced universe of the near-future where supernatural battles between humans and extraordinary creatures span a vast city landscape. Players wield a unique butterfly design-inspired sword and an arsenal of guns, which are used to decimate waves of unholy enemies, and can rebuild their battle-weary body by collecting and repairing any lost limbs, and reattaching them.”
We’ve got the latest E3 trailer that shows off a bit of CGI-fuelled backstory and some limb-removing gameplay to boot. Check it out below.

This sounds, and looks, pretty awesome - a newly announced title at E3 from Konami called NeverDead, for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3:
NEVERDEAD begins with the world under threat from a demonic plague. Centuries have passed since the world succumbed to an unforeseen shadow of evil, and a hero was made an immortal by demons. These demons have risen once again in the present day and are wreaked unrelenting mayhem, represented by destructible environments within the game. Cast as this immortal hero, the player can use regenerative powers to re-assemble his body to evade death for he is Never Dead...

The screenshots highlight the epic environments and foes you'll be battling and the trailer brings it all to life pretty vividly (despite some slightly OTT voice acting) - download in high definition for the full lush experience (404mb), or stream below.
