EA has revealed that the Medal of Honor: Warfighter (AusGamers 4.0/10) map pack Zero Dark Thirty is now available for free to those that pre-order the Limited or Deluxe Editions, with a price tag of $9.99 for everyone else. The new DLC features two maps, Darra Gun Market and Chitral Compound, both based on locations from the movie (of the same name) inspired by the search for Osama Bin Laden.
Medal of Honor Warfighter steps into the boots of the soldiers who led the hunt for Bin Laden and takes you to the locations where only the most elite dare enter:

Darra Gun Market
  • Located in a tribal land where the rules are defined by only two principles – hospitality and revenge
  • Home to dozens of back-alley shops and self-taught machinists making guns by hand
  • Everyone here has a weapon and isn't afraid to use it
Chitral Compound
  • An area of Pakistan thought for a time to be one of Bin Laden’s hideouts
  • A mountainous terrain filled with deep narrow valleys
  • Nearly inaccessible - only those with the capabilities of total surprise will successfully penetrate the compound
You can check out the reveal trailer below for a glimpse at the two maps.

According to a report by CBSnews several members, and former members of the US Navy SEALs force SEAL team Six have been disciplined for their work as consultants on the recently released first person shooter game Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

The report claims that seven of the soldiers have been disciplined so far, for divulging classified information, and supposedly violating an unwritten Navy SEAL code of staying out the media spotlight, with letters of reprimand allegedly taking away half of their pay for two months, and damaging their chances of promotion.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter was heavily promoted by EA and developer Danger Close for its heavy focus on military authenticity, due to the involvement of many active and former military personal in consultation with the game's creation, also featuring them in several of the game's promotional trailers.

That attention to detail was largely lost on critics however, with the game being widely panned by reviewers (AusGamers 4.0/10). Medal of Honor: Warfighter is now available on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

After logistical problems we finally managed to get Bennett "GunSlingerAU" Ring to work on reviewing Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

As a self-professed fan of the reboot, and a military shooter junkie in general, he offered up a bit of authority in the field and took to PC code to let us know how Danger Close, tackling the whole product on their own, and with DICE's Frostbite 2 engine, no less, did. His answer has been resonating among others since the game has released, but is well worth a read if you're still undecided. It also includes visual aides.

EA has announced that Medal of Honor: Warfighter is now available to play in Australia. The title is the latest in the recent reboot of the very long running series, however this time Danger Close has taken on both the singleplayer and multiplayer development compared to the previous Medal of Honor which had DICE on board.
Written by U.S. Tier 1 Operators while deployed overseas and inspired by real world events, Medal of Honor Warfighter delivers an up close and personal look at today’s battlefield and the fight against the ongoing global terror threat.

From rescuing hostages in Abu Sayyaf’s stronghold in the Philippines to assaulting Al-Shabaab’s “Pirate Town” on the Somali Coast, Medal of Honor Warfighter puts players in the boots of today’s most highly trained and skilled warriors to experience missions that have a dotted line to real world terrorist threats.
A new launch trailer has been released which shows off some of the singleplayer in action, which you can check out below. You can also check out our game page for more info if you are still on the fence for this one.

Danger Close has released news of a day one patch that many will have to download when the game becomes officially available in Australia on the 25th. The patch notes read like a novel with a quite long list of changes including fixes to both singleplayer and multiplayer issues.
Intrepid players may have noticed word around the Help Center speaking on Medal of Honor Warfighter's Day 1 Patch.

This patch is for consoles as well as PC and includes a multitude of fixes for both the Single-Player and Multiplayer experience, and our team heartily encourages all Medal of Honor Warfighter players to download and install the patch as soon as they are able.
Some of the more interesting bug fixes and changes include being able to add friends and join parties while in-game plus issues with singleplayer normal functioning as easy.

The patch will be available for all platforms and you can check out the full list of notes over here.

With only a week to go until the launch of Medal of Honor Warfighter, developer Danger Close has released a few new screenshots on their official blog, boasting about using "The best FPS engine out there" --referring to the Frostbite 2.0 engine, the technology created by EA DICE for Battlefield 3, that is now being used across a broad range of EA titles.
Medal of Honor Warfighter is set to deliver an awesome experience as the striking visuals and exciting audio plunge you right into the boots of a Tier 1 Operator. With the Frostbite 2 engine bringing extensive visual detail along with elaborate sound effects, you should be in for the most authentic action and fleshed out scenery, all within real locations from around the world. Check out these most recent screenshots for a look at the extreme level of detail involved.
Medal of Honor Warfighter is due on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on October 25th 2012.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter has been positioned by EA as 2012's equivalent to 2011's popular shooter Battlefield 3, powered by the same impressive Frostbite 2.0 engine, it will utilise a very similar mutliplayer dedicated server setup, and uses the same Battlelog service as a portal for player's multiplayer exploits.

Not all is the same this time around however, as PC and PlayStation 3 players have been disappointed to learn that the recently launched multiplayer beta will only be running on the Xbox 360.

We're only a couple of week's out from the game's release on all platforms however, so the wait shouldn't be too painful. In the meantime, you can watch a couple of new trailers that offer a good overview of what the multiplayer gameplay entails.

Catch the videos below, and if you're super keen, you can head over to Medal of Honor's Battlelog service (which uses the same login as Battlefield 3/Origin), to get yourself good and ready for the game's October 23rd 2012 launch.

Danger Close and EA have today released the long awaited news many eager shooter fans have been looking forward to, beta details for the upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The announcement this morning sees the reveal of an early October release for the beta, however in an odd turn the beta has been classed as only available for Xbox 360.
The Medal of Honor Warfighter beta will feature a brand new multiplayer mode called HotSpot, where players attack and defend randomly-selected locations on the Sarajevo Stadium map in Bosnia. Inspired by real life operations, players team-up in pairs using the game’s unique co-op Fireteam system for a competitive advantage on the battlefield. The Medal of Honor Warfighter multiplayer beta will be available for a limited time in early October exclusively for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system.
The news will definitely come as a slight shock to many other platform players, though hopefully we will see a beta for PC and PS3 later on before release.

For those who are still interested in the band Linkin Park, a new song titled "Castle of Glass" will be released alongside the beta, with the chance to unlock it early if more than 3 million downloads occur, otherwise it will unlock five days after the beta releases. You can check out the latest behind the scenes trailer for the song below, which will feature some in-game footage of Medal of Honor: Warfighter in the song's video.

We recently had a chance to speak with Danger Close's Greg Goodrich about Medal of Honor: Warfighter, where the Executive Producer praised the competition and talked up national pride as a huge component of their forthcoming multiplayer offering, among much more.

"It’s such a competitive space, and our competitors are so good at what they do," he said. "We’re just trying to carve our own spot, and make something that’s uniquely Medal of Honor. That’s why we went with the 12 different Tier One units, with the 10 different nations -- taking a much more global and international look to it."

It seems EA have inadvertently confirmed Battlefield 4 today, with a new pre-order offer appearing on the digital store Origin for the upcoming shooter, Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

While details are slim on the Battlefield 4 offering, anyone who is able to view the US version of Origin is greeted with a large pre-order slogan touting beta access to the next in Battlefield series, plus a few other DLC items.
Pre-order Medal of Honor Warfighter Digital Deluxe on Origin and get the following:
  • U.S. Seal Team Sniper /TAC 300 - SEAL Snipers are universally feared for their innate ability to stalk, target and then peal apart the enemy from extreme distances while in total concealment.
  • British SAS Spec Ops (Pre-Order Bonus)
The SAS have served as the model for modern Special Operations around the world and have been operating in covert, low visibility roles in non-permissive environments for decades.
  • Russian Spetsnaz Alfa Group Heavy Gunner (Digital Deluxe Content)
The Spetsnaz utilize and employ heavy weaponry more often than most Special Operations units.
  • Digital Game Soundtrack
  • With rumours in the past few months about a Battlefield 4 in the works, it isn't a surprise to see the beta being touted as a pre-order bonus when previously the Medal of Honor reboot had its beta access offered as pre-order material for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be available 25th October this year on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

EA have revealed that boxed copies of Medal of Honor: Warfighter sold locally in Australia will have regionally-unique boxart, featuring a kitted out SASR soldier, in place of the US Special Forces operative that adorns the international artwork.

It's hardly exciting news, but it is a nice nod and a reaffirmation of developer Danger Close's commitment to providing a more authentic combat experience, as Australian soldiers generally go completely unrepresented in most military shooters.
Gamers will be able to fly the local flag in battle playing as a member of the Australian SASR in multiplayer and going head-to-head against the best-of-the-best in global competition including the US Navy SEAL, German KSK, Canadian JTF2 and Polish GROM.

In Medal of Honor Warfighter, gamers can select up to 72 Operators in multiplayer. Each of the 12 Tier 1 units represented in the game has six different classes to choose from. For example, the Australian SASR Point Man like all Point Men are known for surprise and speed, mandatory for the inherent danger of placing themselves in the first and most exposed position. They must proceed at risk with extreme operational awareness, which is why they carry a magazine of heavy hitters that will do 20% more damage than normal when loaded in the game. These Point Men also have the ability to call in an airburst mortar.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter is due on October 25th in Australia for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Alongside our chat with DICE's Patrick Bach, we also had a chance to sit down with Danger Close's Richard Farrelly, creative director for Medal of Honor: Warfighter, to grill him about their recently unveiled MoH revamp sequel.

Among much discussed, we threw a question about modern conflict shooter fatigue at him to gauge whether or not they feel their treading into too-familiar water.

"No, I think there’s plenty of stories to tell and for us it’s not so much about a particular conflict or a particular point in history, it’s more about the tone and out of respect for the soldiers," Farrelly responded.

"Telling the soldier’s stories from the soldier’s point of view, and that transcends all time periods in my mind."
