Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary aka the first one is now available to play on PC as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection - via Xbox Game Pass for PC (Beta), Windows 10 PC and Steam. This remastered edition of the original classic (which was on PC way back when) presents a wonderful remake of the original campaign that wisely lets you seamlessly switch between old and new graphics as you're playing.

To celebrate Microsoft has released the following stylish trailer, which is all about that Chief.

For PC players you get an unlocked frame-rate, support for up-to 4K, with the ability to fine-tune settings and details and customise mouse-and-keyboard input. Ultrawide display support is there too, with one of the new features coming to this remake being the ability to switch to classic audio for multiplayer.

With Microsoft releasing all the Halos on PC in chronological order (that being story-wise) we should expect to see Halo 2 arrive, which also got a lovely remake, in the coming months.

It's 10 years to the day since the first Halo game touched down on the original Xbox and Microsoft are inviting us to celebrate with a remake of that classic adventure that was responsible for proving and popularising the concept of a first person shooter on console.

With the departure of series creator Bungie from the Microsoft and the franchise, newly formed studio 343 Industries -- which includes several Bungie vets -- have picked up the mantle to deliver Anniversary ahead of Halo 4. And Although Australia didn't receive the original Xbox, and Halo: Combat Evolved until March 2002, there's no such delays with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and it can now be found on shelves nationwide, exclusive to the Xbox 360 and at a slightly budget price-point.

The Q4 releases keep piling up, and today Microsoft and 343 Industries are reminding you that while there're a lot of great modern games out there, their budget-priced re-release of Halo: Combat Evolved, sub-titled Halo Anniversary is still more than worth a look.

The game is the original in its skeletal entirety, but has been reskinned with new textures as well as having updates in the lighting and more. But everything you remember and love about the game is there in full, it just has a shiny new dress.

Watch the launch trailer for the game embedded below, or click here for the HD option. Halo: CE Anniversary is due out on Xbox 360 November 15 worldwide.
