Where for 10 hours you'll get full access to the first Act in the campaign plus Versues and Horde mode. With an additional caveat of only 10 hours of cumulative game time being available. So yeah, a demo. One that will track your progression if you do decide to purchase.

As an Xbox Play Anywhere title a one time digital purchase will mean that the game can be played on either platform, with cross-platform play enabled. But fair warning, as an Xbox exclusive it entails a pretty hefty 100GB download via the Windows Store.

Our review of the game was positive with Steve drawing parallels to Star Wars Episode VII (as he tends to do) noting that "it takes positive and familiar themes from the first game and dresses them up in modernity."

Also if you have a decent PC, that 100GB will result in a visually stunning game running in native 4K.

Opening moments, or thereabouts, of games are usually the ones shown off prior to release. But even so, showing the entire Gears of War 4 prologue mission in its entirety definitely enters spoiler territory. Which is why we kind of skimmed through it, taking in random moments of gun fire, explosions, and chainsaw guns.

Not that we're invested in the story or characters, it's just that with this type of game, scripted sequences and action beats are best experienced fresh. And when you're in control.

But hey, its 20 minutes of Gears of War 4 action. So check it out.
