The next title from strategy heavyweights Firaxis takes the long running acclaimed Sid Meier's Civilization franchise into the final frontier with Civilization: Beyond Earth, and a brief cinematic trailer at the start of the game will set the scene:

As part of an expedition sent to find a home beyond Earth, lead your people into a new frontier, explore and colonize an alien planet and create a new civilization in space.

Civilization: Beyond Earth is due on October 24th 2014 on PC. Check out the CG trailer below.

Due out October 24th, Civilization: Beyond Earth, like all of the Civilizations that came before it, will be a complicated, yet likely rewarding game.

As with past Civilization titles, Beyond Earth will require some hard work and determination to complete. Those planning to just drop in an hour or two here and there may be left disappointed when trying to play Civilization: Beyond Earth, as represented in the video below.

In this latest video from publisher 2K, we're walked through the process of adapting to an alien planet, purifying or dominating it. After a short intro, we're shown planetfall, exploration, affinities, the tech web, advancement and finally, victory.

2K Games and Firaxis have set an October 24th date for Civilization: Beyond Earth on PC, the forthcoming new entry into the strategy series that shoots for the stars.

A couple of new videos have also been released, offering an eight minute gameplay walkthrough of footage that was previously only shown behind closed doors at E3, and a developer diary style video offering an inside look at some of the games key features.

Ahead of E3's day-long lines, bright lights and loud noises, 2K Games and Firaxis thought it would be more fitting to invite a handful of publications out to a pre-E3 event in an effort to allow for a more intimate session with the recently-announced Civilization: Beyond Earth.

While it's a difficult style of game to have any short amount of time with, we were also given access to some of the key devs working on the project, for greater context and more depth on what is promising to be a deep and heavily layered experience in the 4X space.
