After a year's worth of downloadable expansions, Activision is bringing the fourth and final chapter of DLC for the latest title in its massively popularity military shooter franchise early next week. The Nemesis DLC, which includes four new maps and the conclusion to the Extinction narrative, releases on Xbox One and Xbox 360 August 5.

Nemesis delivers three new maps, including a returning favorite, each with their own respective field orders: Goldrush, in which players can hop into mine carts swirling around an abandoned mine and unlock a pack of wolves to devour their enemies; Subzero, a three-lane style submarine base where your killstreaks award you with a frigid blizzard to kill your opponents; Dynasty, a tranquil Chinese village in which you can call in multiple fighter jets at once; and Showtime, a remix of the original Modern Warfare's Shipment. Showtime's killstreaks encourage close-quarters fighting with automated turrets and poison gas attacks that corral all players into the center of the map.

Exodus, the final episode of Extinction, tasks you with finishing off the Cryptid alien army and escorting researchers to a space station near Earth. You'll face off against the Ancestors, a group of enemies with psychic abilities.

Nemesis will be available for $14.99 individually and comes included with the Ghosts' season pass, and will come to other platforms at a later date.

Activision has today announced that Call of Duty: Ghosts fans playing on the Xbox platforms will soon be rolling in more DLC with the Invasion pack launching June 3rd.

Invasion will offer the third episode of Ghosts' four-part episodic story, titled "Awakening," that takes place as Ghosts' heroes "descend into the perilous alien underworld."Players will be tasked with searching for who is behind the Cryptid invasion.
"Armed with a range of new hi-tech weapons and equipment, the team must penetrate a series of defensive barriers to reach the Ark and unlock the secrets of the Ancestors' psychic powers," the announcement reads. "As the final battle draws closer, the fate of the Earth and the future of the human race hang in the balance."
Of course it isn't just the episode players will gain in the new DLC, with your standard addition of four new multiplayer maps including fan-favourite Favela from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Departed is set in a "rural Mexican town" during the Day of the Dead celebrations, while Pharaoh takes place in an abandoned archaeological site in Egypt. Mutiny is set on a remote Caribbean island, where players must use speed and stealth to kill their opponents.

"Since its original release, the Brazilian shantytown has seen substantial change," the announcement reads. "Buildings once under construction are now complete, while others have crumbled into a state of disrepair. Players must avoid falling to their death as they traverse the map from one building to the next, with ramshackle scaffolding creating varied pathways between structures, and enemy snipers taking advantage of the long sightlines."

The Invasion DLC will be exclusive first to Xbox 360 and Xbox One, with other platforms gaining access soon after.

Call of Duty: Ghosts players will be able to download a free multiplayer demo for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 this weekend, Infinity Ward senior community manager Tina Palacios announced via the PlayStation Blog.

The free weekend demo includes three multiplayer maps; Strikezone, Warhawk and Prison Break. Strikezone, set in a San Diego baseball stadium, is a small map "ideal for close-quarters combat." Three-lane map Warhawk, meanwhile, is intended to appeal to many different play styles. Prison Break takes place in a jungle, which features a hill that's a "crucial area for your team to hold in the fight for victory."

Three game modes will be available to players in the form of Team Deathmatch, Domination and Search & Rescue. Players will also get access to the original Extinction co-op game mode, where you and up to three friends can team together against increasingly challenging waves of aliens.

The free weekend will begin on May 3rd and go until May 6th for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

Infinity Ward has announced new details about their second DLC pack for the recent Call of Duty: Ghosts, this time introducing four new maps and part two of the alien-killing Extinction mode.
The DLC Pack features four new small to medium-sized multiplayer maps, including a mountaintop Mayan temple, a mangled container ship, a giant excavation digger in South America, and a fully reimagined version of Infinity Ward's fan-favorite map "Dome" from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - each with their own unique Field Order. There's also the all-new "Ripper" tactical 2-in-1 weapon, and "Episode 2: Mayday" - the gripping second chapter in Extinction's four-part episodic narrative which includes multiple mod-able versions of the Venom-X weapon, and closes with a battle against a monstrous, 100-foot tall Cryptid alien boss, aptly named the Kraken.
As a bonus to Season Pass holders on Xbox Live, Infinity Ward are also offering instanct access to the DLC's new "Ripper" weapon, which features the unique ability to quickly convert from Sub Machine-Gun to Assault Rifle and back again in the midst of battle, and can be used in all multiplayer maps.

"The Devastation DLC Pack continues the fast-paced, fun and imaginative gameplay that Infinity Ward and Neversoft began with Onslaught," said Daniel Suarez, Vice President of Production, Activision Publishing, Inc. "Ghosts' DLC is much more than just new multiplayer maps. The teams have added new weapons; the next intense continuation in Extinction's four-part, episodic narrative; and another epic, action film character soon to be revealed. Devastation, like Onslaught before it, is a ton of fun, and we can't wait for the community to experience it all."

Alongside the four new multiplayer maps, the new DLC will also introduce the second part to the new Extinction mode, titled Mayday. Following on from the previous events, players will be tasked with taking on multiple new alien enemies as they try to board the mysterious Chinese research vessel found adrift and abandoned in the Tasman Sea. The new DLC will not only introduce a new storyline, but this time players will also get the chance to fire off the new mod-able Venom-X weapon and fight against the 100-foot tall Cryptid enemy known as the "Kraken." Scary stuff.

Check out all the new features in action below. Call of Duty: Ghosts Devastation DLC will be available first on Xbox 360 and Xbox One come April 3rd, with other platforms getting access at a later date.

Call of Duty: Ghosts developer Infinity Ward has revealed that the previously pre-order only map Free Fall will now be available to all, thanks to a new patch for all platforms that adds a wealth of gameplay fixes and tweaks.

Previously available exclusively as a pre-order only offer, the dynamically changing map drops players "into a shattered skyscraper on the brink of collapse. Sideways staircases climb into the night sky, elevator shafts run along the ground, and what were once windows now form a terrifying glass floor, hundreds of feet above the city streets."
Free Fall's close-quarters combat and frenetic action are thrown into overdrive as the ruined skyscraper continues to fall throughout the match, an example of Call of Duty: Ghosts’ new dynamic multiplayer events. With every drop, the accompanying shockwaves cause further destruction, disrupting sightlines and constantly evolving paths and chokepoints as the map changes in real-time.
Alongside the map offering, the new patch also adds LAN support for the Xbox One console, a casual mode for the new Extinction game mode, main menu layout updates and Hunted Free For All to the leaderboard. Full patch notes can be found on the official forums.

Activision is well known for going big when it comes to Call of Duty trailers, especially the live action ones which have featured a number of high-paying movie stars or tv show personalities, so it comes as no surprise that just the same is being done for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Titled "CODNapped", the trailer features familiar face Stephen Graham, who you may recall in Boardwalk Empire or Snatch among many others, leading a gang of elite squad members as they go about kidnapping brodudes that are caught up in the real world in hopes that they can spend just a bit of time playing the new Onslaught DLC for Ghosts.

Surprisingly the trailer isn't that cringe worthy, and features a good snippet of actual gameplay for those wondering what the four new maps look like in action. Check it out below. Onslaught will be available first on Xbox come January 29th, with other platforms to follow.

Onslaught, the next downloadable content update for Call of Duty: Ghosts has been dated for January 29th 2013 with the usual Xbox 360 and Xbox One exclusivity window, and a new trailer has been released to show off the goods.
Onslaught debuts four unique multiplayer maps, each with their own distinct environments, small to medium scale, and varied gameplay, as well as the all-new “Maverick” dual-purpose Assault Rifle/Sniper Rifle. Anchoring Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught is “Episode 1: Nightfall,” the first instalment in Extinction’s four-part episodic narrative that delves deeper into the storyline, and features new characters, a new weapon and new alien species including a towering, three-story tall alien enemy.

Onslaught is also included as part of the Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC Season Pass, which gives fans access to four epic Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC Packs** planned to release in 2014 – Onslaught, Devastation, Invasion and Nemesis – at the discounted* suggested retail price of $64.95. Additionally, Call of Duty Ghosts DLC Season Pass holders get instant access to the downloadable multiplayer map, “Free Fall,” as well as the Team Leader Digital Pack, which comes with a unique multiplayer character head, weapon camo, reticle, player patch, player card and player background.

Call of Duty: Ghosts creator Infinity Ward has revealed that those who may be sick of their doggy companion now have the option to change skins for the multiplayer killstreak, at a price of course.

Coming in at a whopping $2, the new skin changes the fluffy fido companion that you receive after hitting the required killstreak in multiplayer matches into a snarling wolf ready to snap at your enemies bones like dust. Note that this is only a cosmetic change, and will most likely not get you any real world wolves sadly.

The DLC will be available starting tomorrow on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One, though presumably this is just a timed DLC exclusive so we'll have word on when its available elsewhere. If the idea of having a wolf at your command wasn't enough, check out the video over at Call of Duty's Instagram channel.

As promised, we've posted up our Call of Duty: Ghosts review, built from a thorough playthrough of the game on Xbox One as well as with hands-on with PS4 and current-gen.

From the review:
They’re not ground-breaking modes, but they show that there was some forethought going into the multiplayer design overall, it’s just fallen short of where the series should be by now, especially after the valiant effort Treyarch put into shaking all facets of the game up with Black Ops 2.
If you've been on the fence about picking this up on any platform, be sure to read our full verdict.

We've covered Activision's Call of Duty series for the last few years on the day of release, but this year we played the game at a review event on next-gen consoles, and one of those has an embargo of November 12, as dictated by that next-gen publisher and not Activision.

We could have run with our review from current-gen, but as this is a transition year and Call of Duty is such a big property, we wanted to wait the embargo out to feed you all info on all platforms as we played them. So with that in mind, and if you're holding out for next-gen or even to just see how the game is received over the next few weeks, be sure to check back with us around November 12 for the full AusGamers verdict for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Infinity Ward's latest addition to the Call of Duty franchise is now upon us, with their new dog-orientated title Call of Duty: Ghosts now available for your FPS needs.

Ghosts has launched across PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC today, with next-gen versions coming within the next few weeks of their console launches. The newest addition to the long-running Call of Duty franchise sees a number of various tweaks and changes to the popular formula, including the introduction of your canine friend, Riley, who can take down helicopters. Yes, helicopters.
Outnumbered and outgunned, but not outmatched. Welcome to Call of Duty®: Ghosts, an extraordinary step forward for one of the largest entertainment franchises of all-time. This new chapter in the Call of Duty® franchise features a fresh dynamic where players are on the side of a crippled nation fighting not for freedom, or liberty, but simply to survive.
Fueling this all new Call of Duty universe, the franchise's ambitious new next-gen engine delivers stunning levels of immersion and performance all while maintaining the speed and fluidity of 60 frames-per-second across all platforms.
If you feel like you are "bro" enough, check out the launch trailer below for some crazy Hollywood-style shenanigans that you probably shouldn't try to recreate at home.

Another new promotional trailer for the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts was released over the weekend, and like the live action scene Guy Ritchie directed for last year's Black Ops II, this one also draws from the Hollywood talent pool.

Titled "Epic Night Out", the new Ghosts commercial was directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma, The Wolverine) and stars four buddies on a The Hangover style romp through the warzones that includes an encounter with A-lister Megan Fox. Fox's presence is presumably a nod to the developer's introduction of female soldiers as an option in this year's game, a progressive decision despite the trailer's shameless male gaze.

There's also a dog, because Call of Duty has a dog now.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is due on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 come November 5th, with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 launching November 22nd and 29th respectively. A Wii U version will be available on November 30th.

Activision and Infinity Ward have today released a brand new trailer for upcoming FPS Call of Duty: Ghosts, showing off the pre-order bonus map 'Free Fall' in action. Sadly Tom Petty is not there to accompany you why the buildings around start disintegrating, but at least you can hum to the tune.
The brand-new Call of Duty: Ghosts’ multiplayer map Free Fall drops you into a shattered skyscraper on the brink of collapse. Sideways staircases climb into the night sky, elevator shafts run along the ground, and what were once windows now form a terrifying glass floor, hundreds of feet above the city streets.

If all this sounds like your cup of tea you can find more on where to pre-order the game that includes the pre-order bonus on the official website, though it looks like every platform apart from Nintendo's Wii U will gain access to the bonus map. Check it out in action below.
