The third piece of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel DLC arrives today on all three platforms, with the addition being another character (as announced over the weekend), bringing your potential choices to six.

As previously mentioned, Lady Aurelia Hammerlock is the sister of Borderlands 2’s Sir Hammerlock. She’s cold as ice (and comes stocked with cryo abilities to drive that point home).

Lady Hammerlock joins the Handsome Jack Doppelgänger and the Holodome Onslaught DLC (that also raises your level cap to 60). For those of you holding out for a current-gen version, you’ll be happy to know that all three of those DLC packs (and one more still coming) are part of the Handsome Collection, which is due March 26th in Australia and New Zealand, for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is getting a second batch of add-on content with the release of The Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack: The Holodome Onslaught on December 16th, developer 2K Australia confirmed today.

The new add-on pack will include appearances by Vault hunters Gaige and Axton who join the story having missed out on the events of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. In Holodome Onslaught, these characters have the events of the previous game recounted to them - albeit mostly just the violent stuff.

Throughout, players will fight wave after wave of enemies in a new challenge area. Some of these characters will include old enemies from the Pre-Sequels, as well as new enemies, weapons, class mods and skins. As a bonus, the add-on pack also includes the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack which raises the level cap to 60 and gives each of your characters 10 new levels and 10 new skill points to earn.

The Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack: The Holodome Onslaught is included in the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Season Pass. Those who aren't Season Pass holders can purchase the pack separately for $9.99.

In addition, those who currently own Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will receive a free patch next week that will include a third playthrough known as Ultimate Vault Hunter mode. This adds higher difficulty and the ability to reset the campaign progress at any time. Full patch notes will be released closer to launch.

AusGamers' returning champion interviewer Joab "Joaby" Gilroy is back to chat with legenday developer and creator of the Borderlands series Randy Pitchford, or as Joaby dubs him Randy "Fucking" Pitchford the Second.

The key topic of the interview was the thought process behind 2K Australia's first DLC for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, the addition of a playable Handsome Jack.
It is something I've wanted to do for a long time. In fact, when we started Borderlands, and before even the first line of code was written, I was in a creative meeting and I was banging my fists on the table insisting. And then we had this awesome narrative start to emerge when realised there was all this opportunity to tell the story that we told, but Jack had to be the main protagonist NPC character.

It wasn't until we got to the end of development that we begun thinking of DLC, and someone came up with the brilliant idea that Jack would totally have a body double, and that could be our angle in making [him] a playable character.
Find out more about the character design process behind Handsome Jack and also a few hints at what to expect with Gearbox's other game, Battleborn, in the video below.

Free updates will soon be raining like the in-game loot for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, that is according to developer 2K Australia. One of those free updates will be the Ultimate Vault Hunter mode.

In a post on Gearbox’s website, the studio said the mode was a “highly requested” feature from the community. Upon release, the free update will allow players to go through the game a third time and reset campaign progress whenever they like.

Yesterday, the Handsome Jack Doppelganger Pack was released as part of the $29.99 Season Pass and is available individually for $9.99 through Steam, PSN and XBL.

The Handsome Jack Doppelganger Pack for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is coming to Steam, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11th, the developers announced over the weekend.

The $9.99 pack lets players take on the role of the head of Hyperion Corporation, or given the pack's name, someone who looks like him. Handsome Jack, who will be the fifth playable character in the game, is actually the real Jack's clone and plays as a "Doppelganger class."

Jack's action skill is to summon up two "digi-Jacks" to fight alongside him. Each of the digi-Jacks will fight until they die, and then respawn next to Jack. They disappear once the action skill timer runs out.

As with all characters, Jack has plenty of other abilities tied to a skill tree. The left side of the tree, "The Hero of the Story", adds buffs to his grenades. The middle tree, "Greater Good", adds buffs when Jack is in Fight for Your Life mode, as well as when co-op players are in that mode. And the right skill tree, "Free Enterprise", deliver different buffs to your weapon, depending on the manufacturer. It's a tree that essentially encourages shooting fast and changing your weapons a lot.

The upcoming pack is part of the $29.99 season pass as well.

When Gearbox Software announced that they would be opting to go back to a time in-between original Borderlands and its sequel Borderlands 2, the news was met with mixed reactions. Some were happy to hear more loot-filled adventures were on the way, others not so much. What we didn't know until now was just how 'Australian' Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel would be.

With more bogan jokes than you can handle and a fair shake of the Australian voice actor talent bottle, 2K Australia's take on the FPS RPG series is definitely one any local gamer should be proud of. To tell us just how proud we should be is Dave "ko-zee-ii" Kozicki, who found that while it may not be as next-gen as many had hoped, it still innovates on where it matters: humour.
2K Australia has taken the well-worn series formula, added its own low gravity tweaks, lasers, cryo-freezing buffs and doused it in true flag-waving Aussie flavour. Strewth, there were so many moments that had me pissing my pants, relishing our country’s lingo, history, colourful characters and, for lack of a better word, culture.
Read on for the full review to find out more on the most Australian Borderlands we'll ever have.

Borderlands is no stranger to DLC packs, so the news that 2K Australia's Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be gaining four of these add-on packs shouldn't come as surprise to anyone.

The DLC will release on unspecified dates following the game's release, each priced at the $10 USD mark ($15 AUD going by past pricing) –– alternatively, players can purchase the season pass, which includes all four packs, for $30 USD (expect $35-$40 AUD). The add-on packs will showcase new characters and missions, 2K said in a press release, including the chance to play a surgically modified bodyguard that looks like Handsome Jack, the uber-enemy of Borderlands 2.

Although no other information was given regarding the content of each pack, 2K did announce the Shock Drop Slaughter Pit bonus content, which comes with any pre-orders of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. This content will not be included with the season pass, but will be for sale at a later date.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is due for release on October 17th for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Linux gaming continues to grow in numbers, with 2K Australia's Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel officially being announced for the open-source platform.

Originally leaked through Take-Two Interactive's recent financial report, where the free operating system was listed, 2K confirmed the news to IGN. The game will now arrive on Linux alongside Windows, Mac, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 come October 16th.

Those hoping the news of the Pre-Sequel heading to Linux may give the original Borderlands and Borderlands 2 a chance at seeing the free OS future, sadly it looks like that won't be happening. Games.on.net notes that a previous Twitter post from Gearbox's Randy Pitchford somewhat clarifies the chances are very slim.

Skins based on characters from 2K Australia's upcoming title Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel are making their way into Borderlands 2, Gearbox announced during its panel at the GaymerX conference.

The skins will be available as a free, automatic update that is currently slated to hit next Tuesday, Gearbox said. They can be obtained as rare random item drops within the game. Costumes include a Moon Moxxi outfit for Gaige and a Claptrap costume for male characters, and Gearbox is planning to host community events around the skins. During the panel, Gearbox noted that the skins were inspired by cosplay — these skins are basically the Borderlands 2 characters cosplaying as Pre-Sequel characters.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be out October 14th for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, though Gearbox has previously stated it could head to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the future.

Borderlands fans have adjusted to how they shoot those pesky bandits on the surface of Pandora, but as Handsome Jack points out in the latest video for 2K Australia's Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, shooting on the moon is a whole different task.

The video takes a look at a number of new features the in-between title has to offer, including the game's handy anti-gravity double jumping that can be coupled with a powerful slam attack for massive damage. Jack also offers some pointers on upgrading the game's new characters and utilising their nifty new skills for various encounters. Oh yeah, and lasers.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be launching onto PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 come October 14th.

2K Games and Gearbox have released a new trailer for the forthcoming Borderlands: The Pre-sequel, also confirming October 17th as the game's international launch date, which will follow an earlier October 14th North American launch.

The latest trailer is titled "Moon Dance", and although the name immediately suggests a certain Van Morrison song, the video's soundtrack is a rather frenzied electronic number, and Dance Central/Rock Band developer Harmonix reportedly had a hand in the clip's creation.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel continues the franchise’s tradition of industry-leading co-op allowing friends to play together locally via split-screen as well as online with drop-in-drop-out capabilities. With co-op being as seamless as ever, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel remains accessible for gamers and their friends to play alone or together in a variety of configurations.

“It’s incredibly exciting that an all-new Borderlands experience is as close as this October,” added Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software. “If you’ve played any of the Borderlands games or if you have a friend who hasn’t yet, the opportunity to blast off as a new set of playable characters in a whole new campaign experience, including shooting and looting on the moon, is just around the corner.”

“We are huge fans of the Borderlands franchise and are thrilled to have this opportunity to show what we can bring to the Borderlands universe,” concluded Tony Lawrence, general manager of 2K Australia. “We can’t wait for fans to play as Athena, Wilhelm, Nisha and Claptrap and experience the new low-gravity gunplay with awesome new guns to freeze and smash enemies, all in the name of Handsome Jack.”
Watch the clip below, and mark October 17 2014 on your calendars for Borderlands: The Pre-sequel on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
