Joaby is as massive a 'Souls fan as I know. He's good at it and he knows the ins and outs of the design principles of those games. He also makes fun of me because I drop the controller almost always less than 20-minutes into any of the experiences and throw my hands up in frustration. So he's reviewed the game for us in both written form and as a video review on his own YouTube channel.

Still, it's not exactly the same as the Dark or Demon's Souls games. There are differences -- and these differences are significant. Bloodborne pushes the pace of the action in a way the Souls games never did -- when you lose health in Bloodborne, the health bar stays full for a moment, and you have a brief opportunity to regain some (or all) of it by pressing the attack. If you don't attack inside 3ish seconds or if you get hit again you'll lose that health, and the best way to get it back will be via Blood Vials (there are other ways, but Blood Vials are the primary method).

This changes how you approach combat in the game. The risk/reward scenario is different -- health lost isn't gone for good, so taking damage isn't cause for concern. There are absolutely bosses where (provided you aren't staggered for too long) taking a hit to get in close to them is better than hanging back and waiting for an opportunity to strike that might not come.
That's just a slice of his in-depth and thoughtful review of a game that does nothing but destroy your soul (in my humble opinion).

Dark Souls developer From Software has revealed all new gameplay from its highly anticipated PlayStation 4 Souls successor Bloodborne at today's The Game Awards.

The new footage focuses heavily on the multiplayer component, which appears to be three-player co-op, carrying over from their previous Souls series. There's also some quick glances of the various weapons players will use, including a very slick makeshift flamethrower from a lantern.

From Software's upcoming PlayStation 4 release Bloodborne will be delayed by a month, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan producer Masaaki Yamagiwa announced today on the official European PlayStation Blog.

While previously scheduled to launch in February 2015, Bloodborne will now be released in March 25th in 2015.

"We need a few more weeks to deliver you the best possible final experience," he said.

"We were really grateful for all the player data and feedback we received from those who took part in our recent limited alpha test, and this extra development time will allow us to better integrate these learnings into the game."

From Software's gothic, Victorian-era PlayStation 4 exclusive RPG Bloodborne has been given a final date of February 6th, 2015, Sony Computer Entertainment announced at Tokyo Game Show 2014.

Sadly no price point has been given but expect the typical Australian pricing schedule. Those looking across the sea will find that American gamers picking up Bloodborne will be able to nab a nifty Collector's Edition, complete with Steelbook collector's case, an art book featuring concept art from the game and a digital copy of the game's complete soundtrack. No news on whether Australia will be gaining a Collector's Edition.

The trailer offers a great glimpse into the very dark and dirty world of Bloodborne that is sure to excite past Souls fans. With enemies ranging from multi-headed creatures to your simple grunt-like withered beings, From Software is definitely capturing that Dark Souls feel quite well.

Expect lots of death, a number of rage moments and probably a few tears as you complete that all-time difficult boss. Check out the trailers below, and also catch a glimpse at the stream for some more in-depth gameplay.
