NCSoft and Gameforge have today announced new challenges in the upcoming patch 3.0 for Aion, a free-to-play MMO set in the world of Atreia. Featuring numerous opponents lying in wait for brave heroes in exciting new instances, it seems this update is ready to give players a real challenge.
Offering 6 new instances, the next update to the critically acclaimed free-to-play MMO is set to give players a real challenge among a broad range of new monsters and items.

Tiamat's Balaur have powerful air troops, which they deploy either to attack Daeva-owned fortresses. Aturam Sky Fortress, located on a floating island in Sarpan, is in charge of organizing and supplying these air troops. The Reians, having decided that it is impossible to face off with the Tiamat as things were, dispatched infiltration forces into the fortress to shut it down. You must infiltrate the Sky Fortress!
If you are keen for more, check out the press release detailing all six of the new instances, as well as the trailer below featuring all the upcoming features in 3.0.

NCSoft's Aion, their next big Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game is due to launch here on September 25th 2009. QV Software will be handling local retail distro in Australia and while AusGamers was off in Los Angeles for E3 2009 expo, they were kind enough to hook us up with a detailed presentation by NCSoft off-site at the Beverly Hills Hilton.

Since then, we've also participated in the most recent closed-beta weekend for some quality hands-on time. Yesterday we shared some video footage of the presentation and today, as promised you can find out even more about the game in our hands-on preview write-up.

While in LA for E3 2009, AusGamers was invited off-site by NCSoft to check out their next big thing - the MMORPG "Aion". We captured some hasty video intending on just using it for notetaking purposes, but it scrubbed up much better than expected so we've put it online for your viewing pleasure.

This excerpt of the NCSoft's presentation features a guided tour of The Abyss, the game's epic PvPvE (player vs player vs ai controlled environment) arena, which when fully populated will be host to hundreds of players split among the 2 warring factions as well as another AI controlled faction that hates both sides.

Check out this nine minute video for the full guided tour and stay tuned for our detailed Aion preview write-up, coming soon.
