Funcom has today revealed that the new content update, Secrets of Dragon's Spine, is now live for their free-to-play MMO Age of Conan: Unchained. The content update brings a new area called Dragon Spine, where players will also discover the new Sepulcher of the Wyrm dungeon.
The history of Dragon’s Spine goes back thousands of years and contains many hidden secrets. The content and quests the players get to experience in this new adventure zone ties in closely with the original stories of Robert E. Howard. Hurried excavations are underway in Dragon’s Spine to uncover the lost treasures of the ancient culture of the Serpent Men.

Update 4.0 opened the gates to the brand new playfield "Dragon's Spine" and is the first part of the "Secrets of Dragon's Spine" update series which provides players with all new Hyborian experiences as they venture to the desert region located south and west of the ancient city of Pteion. Rippling desert dunes stretches for miles in every direction from the spine, lifeless, except for a small oasis in the mountain’s shadow, and treacherous caves and tunnels weave in and out of the mountain rock. But men are not the only beings to have forged a thriving civilization in the desolate desert, many secrets lay buried beneath the sands. Also available now is the first Dragon's Spine group instance "Sepulcher of the Wyrm".
You can check out the trailer below for a glimpse at the new content, or you can swing by our game page for a look at some new screenshots and artwork from the Secrets of Dragon's Spine area.

Funcom have announced today that they've launched a stack of new game content in Age of Conan, their free-to-play MMORPG set in the world of Conan the Barbarian:
Reception from the player-base to the content update has been extremely positive. In the update, players are embarking on exciting adventures to explore what remains of the temple created by the ancient Atlanteans. Here they must discover for themselves the true nature of the evil curses that beset the ancient race thousands of years ago. House of Crom comprises two vast dungeons, one social, and one instanced. The social dungeon supports multiple groups at the same time, allowing players to experience an open and shared MMO experience that harks back to the early days of MMO exploration, where players must co-operate in order to succeed. These areas are the largest indoor dungeons yet created for the game, and provide a fantastically epic, and massive, backdrop to the player's latest adventures.
The game can be downloaded for free from the official site, but it is over 20GB in size. We're chasing up a client that we can mirror and will update if we can sort that out.

Funcom have taken a hint and re-released their Conan MMO as a free-to-play title called Age of Conan: Unchained.

The new model replaces the old entirely, though you can still pay for a "Premium" membership which offers more game-content not available in the free version. There's also an in-game store for micro-purchases that include the likes of weapons, mounts and more.

They also revealed they're planning on adding new storylines, locales and missions to coincide with the release of the new (and terrible-looking IMO) Conan movie, which is releasing later this year.
“For the team working on the game, going free-to-play is great because it opens up this great fantasy world to an even larger audience,” says Creative Director and Executive Producer Craig Morrison. “Not only can players now enjoy the content for free, we will continue to add new gameplay features and new content and make improvements to the game. ‘Age of Conan: Unchained’ will offer a fantastic experience for both new customers and players who have already roamed the online world of Hyboria. An engrossing story, brutal combat and savage world is waiting for those who dare explore the lands of Hyboria.”

Reckon this will get into the land of Hyboria? Let us know if you plan on giving it a go now that its free in the Comments section.
