Investigators have a suspect — a Saudi Arabian national — in the horrific Boston Marathon bombings, The Post has learned.

Law enforcement sources said the 20-year-old suspect was under guard at an undisclosed Boston hospital.

Where was the 2nd blast ?
Using one bomb as the attack and then another a short time later is often whats used in Iraq/Syria by al queda alligned groups, but that 2nd blast was too early.

Might have been an accident/Gas explosion.
That video is spooky.

You can see the bomb smoke from the second one in the vid as the camera guy looks down the street after the first one went off. Same side of the street.

At the 20 sec mark you can hear the second one and at 22 sec you can see the smoke from it.

There needs to be a national "Ridicule the WBC" holiday, where the entire day is spend pointing and laughing at, or otherwise making fun of those people.

Turn them into a giant national joke instead of getting upset. But that will never happen, so they'll continue to exist in the public's eye.

University of Mobile’s Cross Country Coach, who was near the finish line of the Boston Marathon when a series of explosions went off, said he thought it was odd there were bomb sniffing dogs at the start and finish lines.

"They kept making announcements to the participants do not worry, it's just a training exercise," Coach Ali Stevenson told Local 15.

Stevenson said he saw law enforcement spotters on the roofs at the start of the race. He's been in plenty of marathons in Chicago, D.C., Chicago, London and other major metropolitan areas but has never seen that level of security before.

"Evidently, I don't believe they were just having a training exercise," Stevenson said. "I think they must have had some sort of threat or suspicion called in."

Whoever did it they did it for publicity because neither bomb used high explosive. Black powder and ball bearings I would suggest. I'd say the intent was to make a point rather than carnage.

Most Merican teenagers know how to make these types of bombs. Materials are easily available.

You don't need to know how to make a bomb to experiment, I used to experiment with Condys Crystals and Glycerine when I was a teenager.

Lol hurricane, i got the jolly roger doc (http://www.textfiles.com/anarchy/JOLLYROGER/) during my early high school days and it was filled with s*** to do. Much of it unfortunately was impossible to achieve in AUS but i remember trying to find fertilizer they recommended that was high in ammonia nitrate (IIRC) that made good explosives. I didnt wanna do anything bad, just make some booms in the big ass property behind us. Used to explode lighters, deodorant cans, sparkler bombs, soda bulbs etc. One of my fave things was stealing some magnesium ribbon from high school and lighting that up just for the extreme energy it created. Also wanted to make thermite but never got around to that. Have a cabinet in my parents place filled with all the s*** i burnt, blew up during those days. Good memories. We also got some powder i think from school that would burn different colours depending on the powder type.

as loony and far right as gun lobbyists are, bombing american soil is the last thing they would consider doing to make a point. They get mortally offended when someone suggests they are working against the interests of the people of america. If anything they would attack a government asset. Not a marathon...

With blood-soaked hands and wearing a cowboy hat, Carlos Arredondo helps rush a young man in a wheelchair to safety after explosions turned Monday’s race into a disaster scene.

In 2007, Arredondo was publicly beaten during an anti-war demonstration in Washington, according to WarIsACrime.org, which carries photos of the incident and an account from Arredondo’s wife.

That's not the issue, the issue is that one is classed as an act of terrorism and the full heavy hand of the justice system needs to be brought to those terrorists who meticulously planned this operation. The other is just collateral damage so who gives a s*** about them, we will just get away with it by bombing from above with a press of a button because we can. Then we'll just fly off into the sunset waving the american flag and we will be greeted as heroes for defending our country.

To sum up, the media are a pack of c****, news at 11.

I hate the deaths of innocents by drones, but I don't think that's true at all.

One is about an attack directly on civilians, for the purpose of killing civilians.
One is about civilian casualties in the war with al Qaeda. Not just done to them -because- they are civilians.

Whether or not the war is justified is a major question though.

Call it what you want. Obama, Osama, Sadama. It's all terrorism, whether it involves wearing a beard and a turbin or wearing a suit and a tie. As for the war in Iraq, there's no justification for it, whatsoever, and you'd be naive, to say the least, to think otherwise. If 2 die it's an act of terrorism but a million iraqi women and children die (over a number of years) then it is merely collateral damage and that makes it ok. F*** off.

Thought this might happen in a thread about a tragedy in Boston. It is a horrific tragedy isn't it? What happened/is happening in Iraq and many, many other countries is also tragic. Why not make a thread about that? I've made a couple of threads about horrific incidents, mudslides in Brazil for instance and barely anyone cared. Why? Might make a new thread about that? What happened in Boston is tragic, don't detract from that. Yes bombing in Iraq on the leadup to an election is horrible as well, not less than or more than. Yes its a very sad situation that it was barely reported in mainstream media, but most people in these forums source their news from multiple sources, so no need to attack them for problems in the media which they have little control over.

Saying that America's bombs causing unintended collateral damage is the same thing as a planned operation where the sole purpose is to kill civilians doesn't really make sense to me.

I do understand the s***tiness behind the media plastering this everywhere while the bombing of civilians goes relatively unnoticed, though. The truth is the media are c**** and will only heavily report on extraordinary events because that's what brings the clicks and hence advertising dollars in. You know what I've noticed? Nobody panics when things go "according to plan." Even if the plan is horrifying! If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like a child will get bombed in the Middle East or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all "part of the plan." But when I say that one little Boston will explode, well then everyone loses their minds!

As an atheist westerner it makes perfect sense to me how the Iraq situation relates to this. Put yourself in an Iraqis shoes. People dying near u from American bombs would make u scared or "terrorised" by the fact an American bomb could blow u up at any moment. Your an innocent Iraqi living in constant fear . Secondly if my parents or someone i cared for died from an American bomb u best believe I'd be as angry as one could be at the Americans. Come up with whatever justifications u want to help u sleep at night but I could understand an Iraqi feeling exactly like the victims of the Boston marathon bombing. I'm sure plenty really think "they are just towel heads not real people so who cares".

Anyone up for some more conspiracy stuff?

As you can see in the first pic the guy is wearing a black backpack and you can see that something inside is making the bag push outward.

http://www.members.optushome.com.au/gpahl/fishy01.jpg

Then in the second pic he isn't wearing it and could possibly be holding it in his hands out of view, maybe getting ready to place it on the ground without bringing any attention to himself.

Would it hurt so much for the guy to be questioned about it anyway? So long as law enforcement are civil about it - which, let's face it, is unlikely - but surely it'd at least give the guy a chance to offer an explanation.

Of course, we all know they'll go in already having decided he did it and give the guy no chances whatsoever.

http://www.theage.com.au/world/up-to-70-feared-dead-in-fertiliser-plant-explosion-20130418-2i22f.html

Up to 70 people have been reported dead in a fertiliser plant explosion near Waco, Texas.
The Emergency Medical Services director in the town of West, Dr George Smith, told the local KWTX station as many as 60 or 70 people had died and hundreds were injured in the blast on Wednesday night.
Paul Gately of KWTX told Australia's ABC news the town looked "like a warzone". Fire had spread from the plant to a junior high school, a nursing home and several other houses, he said.

The explosion wasn't THAT big lol.

It was the shockwave that did most of the damage I'd bet. That's why that annoying kid went "deaf".

There would have been plenty of shrapnel, but even at that distance, I doubt they would have had a huge chance of being hit short of a freak 2x4 or something.

Had they been closer, sure. But it's not like a wall of shrapnel or something.

Also, in before "darkies spotted near the plant with black backpacks and 'army gear' " lol.

I'm not saying it wasn't a big bang, it was. I'm saying that it wasn't big enough to kill them from 800+ meters away.

As for the kids hearing, it's probably just ruptured ear-drums at the worst. He'll probably be ok soon enough.

WASHINGTON—In the wake of Monday’s terrorist bombing at the Boston Marathon, sources reported today the internet had come up with approximately 8.5 million leads on who might have committed the deadly terrorist attack. According to reports, in the hours and days since the bombing that killed 3 and injured countless others, internet users quickly took to social media sites, online news comment sections, and personal blogs to examine the evidence related to the crime and are, at press time, investigating over 8 million potential suspects.

Two young men, armed with guns and explosives in what appeared to be backpacks, engaged in a violent standoff with dozens of police on a street in Watertown, Mass., Thursday night, police and residents said.

...

The two shooters, he said, had a large and unwieldy bomb. “They lit it, still in the middle of the gunfire, and threw it. But it went 20 yards at most.” It exploded, he said, and one of the two men ran towards the gathered police officers. He was tackled, but it was not clear if he was shot, Mr. Kitzenberg said.

Some guy need something at Laurel and Dexter

And the Arsenal Mall right nearby is about to be opened up for the day :/

On the radios they mentioned they've gotten reports that a Mac Truck at the Harvard Business School (next to the shopping center) and a construction crew elsewhere looked suspicious. *sigh*

Hospital was notified at 01:10 local time that a patient was coming in with multiple injuries. He arrived at 01:20 - at that point he was in a "traumatic arrest" undergoing CPR. At 1:35 he was pronounced dead.

His injuries included gun shot and blast wounds with shrapnel.

That's what I thought. Or being handled roughly while cuffed. Either way, insignificant in comparison to the other injuries/wounds. The opening on his ribs is consistent with the doctor's report I read earlier this morning

The trauma team put a breathing tube in Tsarnaev’s throat, Dr. Schoenfeld said, then cut open his chest to see if blood or other fluid was collecting around his heart. Tsarnaev’s handcuffs were removed at some point during the resuscitation attempt, he said, because “when the patient is in cardiac arrest and we’re doing all these procedures, we need to be able to move their arms around.”

I dunno, doesn't look like a surgical cut, it's nasty looking.

Looks like a chunk of flesh was torn off and a machete used to break through his ribs (not literally).

The only thing that makes me think surgeon is the skin looks discoloured around the edge of it which looks like disinfectant / betadine type stuff.

Also, does the skin look off to you around that? Almost looks like he's made of foam or something lol. There's no blood around the cut flesh, almost looks fake, or it was done after his heart had stopped.

Back when I was in the RAAF I was posted to St Louis as part of the F-18 procurement program.

We often got requests for information about Australia as well as personal visits to schools in the area. Off we went to a local high school to talk about Australia.

The teacher and students were gobsmacked..

At the end they thanked us and remarked that we spoke very good English for people from Austria.......

Despite having a world map and pointing out where Australia is.....

This is interesting and I guess goes to the heart of what makes us Aussies Vs the Yanks.
The guy in the Mall had a good discussion with the cops and personally I reckon they bean bag shot him as a less-sucky way for him to get out of a very bad situation with face.
Comfortable Racism aside, I would take even money that if the bloke in the mall had been your typical boogieman Middle Easterner, I think that in that kind of circumstance the cops could show the same or similar compassion towards him.

The yanks are a bit trigger happy at the moment. The Onion explains this far better than I could :).

The ambassador of The Czech Republic has released a statement saying that The Czech Republic is not Chechnya

haha, reminds me of TWW ep where someone mistakes Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan:
Kazakhstan is a country four times the size of Texas and has a sizable number of former Russian missile silos.
Kyrgyzstan is on the side of a hill near China and has mostly nomads and sheep.

just once I would like someone who carries out a mass shooting or bombing or hijacking to have a film crew follow them around for a few months before they do it, so they can prove what they did, how / why etc...

Actually I have heard of someone doing this when they made crop circles or something like that, and once they revealed the video of how it was planned and done, all the facemen decided that the video was all part of the alien conspiracy too, or that someone had "got to them".

Is it too early to submit my vote for most f*****g useless thread resurrection of 2013?

I suppose on the upside it's the first post I've ever seen this HonkyHanka account make without a "lol" in it.
