not much needs to be said... c****
also general increase all around for other tolls. TOLL COSTS PER TOLL POINT FROM 1 JULY 2010* Class 1 Class 2 Class 3 Class 4 Gateway Bridge $1.93 $3.85 $5.78 $10.20 Kuraby $1.14 $2.27 $3.41 $6.02 Loganlea Road $0.73 $1.46 $2.19 $3.87 Heathwood and Paradise Road $1.20 $2.40 $3.60 $6.36 http://www.qldmotorways.com.au/ontheroad/tolloperations.aspx 2.95 to 3.85... i say boo. am i slow to catch on? ridiculous! |
yeh i just got the email as well... fkn sucks :[
it'd be cheaper for me to drive through the city than take the gateway now. def cheaper to ride my bike thru the city to goto my mates place at sunnybank from my place... extra $4 per visit... f*** that. |
Didn't they announce this sometime last year?
like you couldn't see this coming anyway. |
yeah f*** that
i drove over the gateway a few months ago with no etag or anything expecting to just get a bill in the mail and pay it i sent them an email like 2 months later when i hadn't got a bill telling them what had happened purely because i thought i could have all kinds of fees and s*** building up if something has happened and i just hadn't recieved the notice they had no record of my rego crossing the bridge lulz |
Is the Lemon7 still on discount ?
|
i sent them an email like 2 months later when i hadn't got a bill telling them what had happened purely because i thought i could have all kinds of fees and s*** building up if something has happened and i just hadn't recieved the noticeDitto. Did this twice and there was never any record of it. |
yep. isnt the hale st bridge going to be $4 something?
|
Is there no alternative to charging people to cross a bridge?
How does a system like this come about, do governments put out a contract that forces the motorist to foot the bill or do companies approach the government with the idea? Why doesn't the government just build one (too much money leading to the above?) |
yeah f*** that Same |
How does a system like this come about funnily enough, with a troll....... you guys are lucky regarding the gateway toll. i got a letter every time....... and yeah, i dont cross it anymore, and certainly wont if the price goes up. luckily most my deliveries are southside :) last edited by lewd at 15:02:02 25/Jun/10 |
I remember when the toll was $1.80-$2.20.. and it wasn't all that long ago either.. f*****g justify that..
|
companies approach the government with the idea |
This better not change my secret scam of the VIC tolls by using a QLD eTag.
|
heh, sounds like i should never have signed up for a transponder if most ppl can cross for free without one ;p
the thing that annoys me is that now this etoll system is in place there is nothing to stop them from hiking the price whenever they feel like it.... most road users that need to go from the south of bne to the north or vice-versa will just have to cop it or take a longer, more congested route through the city. |
The cost of crossing the bridge is going up so much faster than the cost of fuel that more and more ppl will just go around it. I cant wait to add to the traffic. fffffffffffffffffffffff
|
The whole idea is to deter people from using these high traffic areas isnt it?
The ones who NEED to use it just get shafted.. |
hardware - the tag systems from each state all work around the country. The way they charge however is different.. so for (hypothetically) example might be that for me to travel the CityLink down here might cost $10 if I had a CityLink toll but they charge interstate tags x trips. So it might cost 3 trips to travel the CityLink and eTag would charge maybe $3 a trip. So instead of costing $10 it cost $9.
.. if that makes sense. |
oh. i thought it was going to be something good.
|
The cost of crossing the bridge is going up so much faster than the cost of fuel that more and more ppl will just go around it. I cant wait to add to the traffic. fffffffffffffffffffffff its an extra 90cents. If it saves me 2 minutes, its worth it. Im all for rises in the tolls. Means the tight asses wont use them, and reduce the traffic on the toll roads. |
its an extra 90cents. If it saves me 2 minutes, its worth it.holy s***, are you serious? To me 2 minutes is completely immaterial. I'd just end up pissing it away on some completely time wasting and futile exercise, like say, surfing QGL. An extra 90c, on an already exorbidant charge, is better off staying in my pocket rather than the greedy corporate fatcats. I will maintain this stance until I'm a greedy corporate fatcat. |
Megabucks spent on roads and bridges by government = complaints from anyone who doesnt use them.
Megabucks charged to users of a toll road built by someone else = complaints from people who have to use it. Frankly I think toll roads are a stupid idea. But they're here to stay now... |
they had no record of my rego crossing the bridge lulz Ditto. Wondered why the s*** never appeared on my credit card or any confirmation in the mail. F*** there is something wrong with this state government when they can't even bill us properly. |
I pretty much have to use the bridge to get to my work every day. My work is just over the bridge so for me to go via the story bridge could easily add on 15 mins and more during peak hours.
So at $3.85 twice a day, 5 days a week 48ish weeks a year it will cost me about $1850 a year just to pay tolls.. Thanks a fkn lot Bligh. Now upgrade the entire highway please as EVERY day the road backs up and slows right down between 4-6pm right at the Shell servo where the new and old highways merge, gg. Thank f*** I hate my job and looking elsewhere. |
I woudl think all decent work places situated near the airport would compensate their employees for that s***** toll.
|
Where I work isn't decent lol.
|
its an extra 90cents. If it saves me 2 minutes, its worth it. Im all for rises in the tolls. Means the tight asses wont use them, and reduce the traffic on the toll roads. It's not just tight asses, it's people who just bought themselves a house and are already struggling to make repayments but who might need to use the road to get to work. Lucky for me I only need to go up the motorway/gateway when I break something on my RC car or my real car, other than that all the awesome stuff is attainable without ever setting foot on a tolled road. Why is it not a rounded number like $4.00? Don't get me started on this s***. Why do they charge you $10.99 for something and not just say $11? Because $10.99 looks like a smaller number, that's f*****g why and it's a damn stupid idea. |
Why is it not a rounded number like $4.00?You're not paying in coins... |
nevermind what i said about the hale str bridge being over $4 for the toll. the full price will be $2.35. still a bit rich for how short it is.
|
nevermind what i said about the hale str bridge being over $4 for the toll. the full price will be $2.35. still a bit rich for how short it is.Are you f*****g s***ting me? The new Hale St bridge is going to be a toll bridge? |
I haven't used the gateway bridge since they removed the toll booths. I figure if they aren't going to pay people to work I won't pay them.
|
There will be mutiny if they tolled the story bridge haha...its such a POS bridge...
|
I haven't used the gateway bridge since they removed the toll booths. I figure if they aren't going to pay people to work I won't pay them. do you also refuse to use petrol stations since they stopped employing bowser attendants? |
Just got this in an email from QLD Motorways.
Gee thanks, so I get to pay more for a road I don't use when the northern end of the gateway motorway is at a crawl in the morning and the afternoon during 3-4 hours of peak traffic. Thanks, I suppose I can look forward to another hike in the prices when they decide to fund that project. |
do you also refuse to use petrol stations since they stopped employing bowser attendants? The servo on Wickham terrace pumps your fuel for you still pulled up there last week after I picked up my mrs from work, I popped the fuel cover and we were still talking, then I heard this noise and i'm like "wtf, do yuo hear that?" old mate is already undoing my petrol cap and has fuel nozzle in his hand then we just stood there in this kind of awkward silence while he pumped my fuel |
clem7 has a surprise for everyone soon :)
|
That would piss off the 2 people that use it.
|
i hope its a new name, the old one is a dud
|
$2.35 (the full price) seems pretty friggin rich to cross the hale st bridge!!!
|
nevermind what i said about the hale str bridge being over $4 for the toll. the full price will be $2.35. still a bit rich for how short it is.Are you f*****g s***ting me? The new Hale St bridge is going to be a toll bridge? Yeah, where have you been living? At it's old price it was going to be the most expensive toll road per metre anywhere in the world. Project came in under budget so they reduced it .. I think the more likely scenario is they realised nobody was going to pay the ridiculous price they initially had it at. The big jump in toll prices are obviously to make Queensland Motorways seem more attractive when Bligh sells it off. Thanks government! |
Are you f*****g s***ting me? The new Hale St bridge is going to be a toll bridge? Yeah its pretty much the stupidest toll ever, cause its just a toll for a bridge. Why the f*** would people use it if they can drive 1min and use the william jolly? I suspect they will make it REALY hard to use the william jolly fron west end side. |
i hope its a new name, the old one is a dud Yeah especially "clem7", must have been quite a tard that came up with that. |
Why the f*** would people use it if they can drive 1min and use the william jolly? Its taken me 20+ minutes to get across that bridge in peak hour some times, but outside of those times there is absolutely no reason at all. |
I thought the new Go-Via system was not only supposed to free up traffic but also save money on having to pay people to collect tolls at gates, so no need to increase road tolls for sometime, clearly not the case.
I activated my Go-Via tag with $30 and I've used toll roads about 3 times this year, the government still has at least $20 of mine that they can do what they want with it and I may not even use that $20 for another two years but they still have it so what the $*@% do they do with it? Then they go and increase toll prices I feel sorry for the people that use it regularly can you claim it back on tax? |
sometimes when i get mad or angry i dont stop i just keep going i dont mind if people dont see it my way but it really annoys me i just cant stand it so when the time comes im really going to show them you know what i mean?
|
lol
Sounds like they're upping the tolls because they aren't making enough revenue (obv), but thats because they aren't even charging every user that crosses the bridge. Logic fail. |
I remember reading somewhere that the new hi-tech speed cameras in the clem7 were not calibrated properly and they had to recall the fines that they issued, so maybe same thing happened with the go-via systems?
I'd rather pay a toll then go through traffic any day, in saying that I dont use a toll road everyday like some people do so I can see the anger |
I would be after blood if i had to go through a toll every day which eventually amounted to an extra $1500 in cost a year on top of paying rego. Luckily I dont...but if i did have to... f*** that
|
Are you f*****g s***ting me? The new Hale St bridge is going to be a toll bridge? What, like the Gateway Bridge and Sydney Harbour Bridges are toll bridges, it's not unheard of. Sure, the Go Between Bridge is not as long as those two. |
There will be mutiny if they tolled the story bridge haha...its such a POS bridge... Hardly, it was built in the 1600s by a few abos with twigs and yet they still had the foresight to build 6 lanes, but yeah I'll rage when they toll it. |
What, like the Gateway Bridge and Sydney Harbour Bridges are toll bridges, it's not unheard of. except both of those dont have a toll free bridge 500mtrs down the river. It is literaly 500mtrs down the river, look on google maps. |
Also, the Sydney harbour and gateway bridges are slightly bigger than the new hale street bridge.
|
With all the tolls going up I'm going to set up my own toll on the good will bridge, $4.25 each way, Hippies pay a surcharge. Those that don't like it can go jump
|
Surely they could pay a bigger toll, since it is a one time payment.. |
Just remember the story bridge is a former toll bridge
Although an engineering success, the bridge was regarded initially as a white elephant, the toll being unpopular and the traffic demand negligible. Not until the arrival of American troops in 1942 was the Story Bridge fully utilised. Nevertheless, the final cost of 1.6 million was recuperated within seven years, and in 1947 the bridge was transferred to the Brisbane City Council and the toll was removed. from here http://www.advance-merc.com.au/storybridge.html last edited by hardware at 22:19:53 27/Jun/10 |
wow they recuperated 1.6 million in 7 years in the 1940s?! i can't imagine that the toll was very substantial back in those days...or that the traffic volume was anywhere near what we have today...yet it was fully paid off in 7 years. wtf does the gateway still have a toll after 24 years of service then??!?!
|
gateway was paid off years ago. it was paid off in half the time they predicted it would take. they just continued to charge us because they can.

Clem 7 tunnel just got a new toll $2
http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/clem7-toll-slashed-to-2-20100628-zcw7.html |
$2 is a fair price i say
that's the toll price it should stay at until it's paid off a move with infation is okay too i suppose |
pffft don't start on tolls until you drive in Sydney
Eastern Distributor - Toll prices A toll is charged for use of the Eastern Distributor in the northbound direction only. The toll (including GST) is $5.00 for cars* or $10.50 for any other vehicle to 30 June 2010. From 1 July 2010, the toll (including GST) will be $5.50 for cars* or $10.50 for any other vehicle. M5 = $3.80 for cars M7 = various prices based on distance traveled, but can be up to $7 each direction. Sydney Harbour Bridge = $4 Sydney Harbour Tunnel = $4 Cross City Tunnel = $4.32 Lane Cove Tunnel = $2 something M2 = $4.95 f*****g tolls are a joke!! |
Yeah its pretty much the stupidest toll ever, cause its just a toll for a bridge. Apparently the William Jolly is f***ed structurally, thus the need for the go between bridge! They are gonna get rid of the WJ and everyone will get reamed paying the toll! |
hi guys i told you clem7 had a surprise.
|
The Lemon7
nuthin' buta a two bit tunnel. love it. |
Rates up
Power up Tolls up Water UP Rego up How isnt Inflation at like 5% ? Whats keeping that down ? The only thing going down is my savings >.< We need to make government smaller. There is too many leechers in Government. A good start would be to get rid of State Governments. |
the forecasts for the clem7 were so LOL but i support building tunnels. i think any big infrastructure project will have a few years poor patronage until it becomes a critical piece of infrastructure.
i mean, you wouldn't build a tunnel for 20000 cars even though it would be instantly 100% utilised now would you? |
Government is in Debt they need to get the money somewhere, noone is using the Clem7 $2 is better then nothing and getting 1000 cars a day then having 100 cars use it at whatever it was.
|
yes i to was worried about fee's being accumulated after using the bridge a few times with not etag.. called them to find out i had no fees owing.
|
Do cyclsists pay to use bridge?
Bloody outrage if they can cross and not pay.. It's a form of transport.. Bloody Lycra wearing queers best pay. |
1. They need some sort of volume/frequency cost pricing for tolls. eg. If you use a toll road every day/twice a day you get it much cheaper than someone who uses it just occasionally. I mean the idea is to stop frequent commuters from clogging the other roads right?
2. UQ students should be allowed to use the green bridge. (i'm not a UQ student). That would surely reduce a heap of cars from clogging sir fred schonnel/corro drive 3.Go between bridge should not have been made 50metres from the WJ. Better spot would be from the Regatta i rkn. |
Do cyclsists pay to use bridge? Obvious troll is obvious. Damn sexy Flanders! |
Blahnana, not trolling..
Fairs fair I say.. They are crossing it, so pay for it. As I said, it's a form of transport. |
they would need to introduce bike registration before they could do that damo.
|
It's amusing that everybody is infuriated with the price hikes.
What actually infuriates me, is that these wankers who earn three times what I do, have their head so far up their ass that they have s*** for brains can't do simple mathematics. How is it not logical to these people that low volume high cost is not even close to efficient volume plus cost. Obviously too high too low volume will impede on the profit per hour. 3 Cars/Hr at $5 or 15 Cars/Hr at $2... Well yes, the $5 charge at first looks nicer but it's obviously not the most profitable. Extremely obvious poor decisions like this, not even in hindsight should be met with capital punishment :) Not one step back! |
3.Go between bridge should not have been made 50metres from the WJ. Better spot would be from the Regatta i rkn. it's so you can drive straight down the ICB onto hail street and straight across to southbank rather than either turning left at the end of hale street onto corro drive then having to go up onto the WJ bridge which used to back up onto corro drive before they made it 2 lanes to turn onto the WJ bridge or having to get off the ICB near the normanby into the f*****g torrent of kelvin grove road traffic that then takes on other lanes from musgrave road and it all merges to make countess street and they all want to cross over lanes to get to either the city side or southbank side lanes not sure if i can justify paying the cash to use that go between bridge every day but i'll definitely be getting a toll tag thing so i can use it at certain times when i need to |
its what the gateway used to be.
if bligh manages to sell it off to a private company, the price will probably keep increasing. |
