Need to transport a car from brisbane to cairns. Anyone have any suggestions?
Suhaib suggested CEVA but they seem to be a bit expensive ($950). |
Time constraint/works paying for it.
mr hardware if you're serious id pay 500. checking out rail, it might be a cheaper option. yeah plane fares are $100 one way to cairns atm. last edited by greazy at 00:14:50 03/Feb/10 |
yeah if i had the time i'd do it greazy, srs
but i don't so i won't. |
frakture, its 1700ks... I think its going to be more then 50 dollar of fuel.
|
TBH $950 seems like a fair price for that task.
|
http://www.movingcars.com.au - these guys gave me a quote of $820.
what do you guys mean by rail, QR? edit: haha my quotes on that list rawb last edited by greazy at 00:29:27 03/Feb/10 |
This car doesn't happen to be a blue mr2 would it?
frakture, its 1700ks... I think its going to be more then 50 dollar of fuel.It would, theoretically, cost $170 to drive my car 1700kms. How funny is that? last edited by whoop at 00:44:39 03/Feb/10 |
This car doesn't happen to be a blue mr2 would it?Hey back off son! Also lol @ whoever said $50 fuel from bris to cairns cause he'd be on some strong s***. last edited by MatchFixa at 01:52:37 03/Feb/10 |
ha ha $50 petrol.. so wrong
anyway, be careful with rail transport. the amount of constant vibration on the track is far greater than any vibration you would come across on the road... i've heard stories of suspension etc being totally fked after rail transport |
ha ha $50 petrol.. so wrong I did it last month and would have spent about $110 in fuel and my car is a diesel with insane fuel consumption. |
I did 1060k on a recent holiday and used $78 worth of LPG
and that included at least 150k of terrible, terrible road, the rest was nice highway |
cairns is over 1500k away from brisbane. there is NO F*****G WAY IN HELL a car will use less than $50 in petrol for this trip. no even a f*****g prius
so f*** off |
hey guys cairns is further away than $50 worth of fuel will take you
|
yeh my 3 litre diesel gets 1000-1100 k's out of about $90 worth of diesel
doesn't really matter what type of road it is or whether you're towing a caravan either cairns is ~1700k's away from brisbane though |
this is about shipping a car to cairns not how much it will cost you in fuel to drive it up there.
|
nah it's about transporting a car
since driving a car can often be considered a valid option for transporting it, it's completely in context |
I moved 2 cars to Melbourne with CEVA and that didn't cost me near $950 (one was $400 the other $250). Are you getting them to pick up & drop off or are you doing the pick up & drop off?
As for the service CEVA gave it was top notch, very quick and efficient and didn't have a problem with either car. |
You'd get there on $50 if your car used no more than 2.4 l/100km @ $1.20l.
No sweat. last edited by mission at 13:04:16 03/Feb/10 |
You'd get there on $50 if your Fix'd |
It recently just cost me a little under $120 each way on a 750cc motorcycle
|
drive there ($50 petrol or so what sort of a space age bubble car do u have that runs brisbane to cairns for $50. |
no its an old nova, white how much? did you sell it or giving it away or something? the old man got quoted $3k to send up his old station wagon from Devonport, Tassie to Brisbane. $8-900 sounds like a good deal |
im moving up there koopz.
for ceva quotes its $950 for depot to house (they dont have a depot in cairns). i might actually go with ceva, the depot in brisbane is right around the corner from me. nah it's about transporting a carThat might be true but it's still not in the context with regards to the original post. gtfokthx |
I don't think $50 in fuel is gonna get you there
|
its 19hr or 21hour trip from memory. with stops. Factor that in Hardware.
$500 after other costs is going to give you about $10/day over 2 days |
Is there a time requirement on you needing it up there?
At some point in time (hopefully...........) i'll have a car that needs picking up in Cairns, so I could drive it up there for you. If you cover Fuel + food for the 2 day drive (I'd stay at a free camp site with my swag), i'd be more then happy to drive it. However it could be a while before I need to head up there. And as said, fuel will be slightly more then $50. Last time me and a few mates smashed it it took 19.5 hours. 3 Drivers, never allowed ourselves to get stuck behind a slow (100km or less) car and if you had to go to the toilet/buy food you went when the car was getting fuel. So by yourself I would allow at least 2 12hour days. You need the extra 4 hours (2 a day) at least for a break from driving or you're likely to do something silly. |
sorry you're leaving greazy
'hope all goes smoothly up north for ya |
i took a bus from Gold Coast -> Cairns when I was 15.
It took 31 hours with all the stops. Crankiest bus driver I've ever met, wierd thing is he kept taking these tablets, and now I think back it was probably speed haha p.s 31 hours sucked |
I just want the car up there when I'm there. surprised how many people are willing to go to cairns (for a holiday and not to stay haha)
