chick?! Yes, also keen to know who you're talking about? |
I think any chick would suffice for a FS thread

It always amazes me when I see cars going for under $10,000 because that's really not a lot of money. So I have to wonder how much the car's ongoing costs are that make selling worth it. I guess there also wouldn't be a lot of parking available in Bulimba.

I guess there also wouldn't be a lot of parking available in Bulimba. I'm moving to inner-city Melbourne, and there's even less parking there, and less need for a car anyway. Would like to be there by the end of the year, so selling my car is a priority to help fund the relocation. last edited by exo at 14:26:05 11/Nov/09 |
sweet ride, makes me wish i was looking
|
Triamks it's an 18 year old car, paying over 10K would be criminal!
|
It's an 18year old car with 150k's. V8 so not overly cheap to run, insure or rego.
What makes a soarer worth 8,500 ? (not trying to talk you down ... just trying to understand the attraction) |
I'm moving to inner-city Melbourne, and there's even less parking there, and less need for a car anyway. Would like to be there by the end of the year, so selling my car is a priority to help fund the relocation. Congrats! You're semi right about not needing a car when in inner-city Melbourne. I live in Hawthorn East (inner cityish) and had to sell my VE SSV because it was a pain to drive around town. I catch public transport to 95% of my destinations (work, city, eating out, etc) plus I'm only a 5min walk from Camberwell Junction so I foot power myself up to that on the weekends. I worked out I did maybe 3kms/week in driving which wasn't worth the cost of owning + running it. The only time I was using a car was when I needed to pick up groceries and so trying to fit a big sedan like that into little car spots was ridiculous and ended up getting wifey's Getz shipped down and selling my car. I'd say you still need a car for those occasional trips like big grocery shops, airport pickups, etc but it's also easy enough to live without one (did it for 4 weeks while arranging shipment of wifeys car). |
What makes a soarer worth 8,500 ? (not trying to talk you down ... just trying to understand the attraction) The car was years ahead of its time, featuring things like touchscreen controls, reversing cameras, digital dashes, a really good quality leather interior, active steering, electric steats, mirrors, windows, remote central locking, excellent sound, plenty of space etc etc. Its redbook value is between $7k and $9.5k for the base model, I aimed somewhere in the middle. last edited by exo at 14:50:35 11/Nov/09 |
Pretty sure the main reason this is < 10k is those wheels haha well i wasn't going to say anything obes, try finding an australian built car that is that old and in as good a condition as most jap imports getting around from the same era not to mention looking better and being quicker in most cases pretty sure it's a toyota too |
people will always sell cars, just because it sounds awesome for you doesn't mean it is for the guy selling it
if i still had my 180 i would have had to sell it anyway cause of kids & yada yada either that or compliance plate it for 3 harnesses instead of 2 |
obes, try finding an australian built car that is that old and in as good a condition as most jap imports getting around from the same era How bout a car from anywhere that is newer (thus better condition) has less miles and is cheaper ? but ok clicky 94, similar k's VR Statesman. $5000 *shrug* not to mention looking better and being quicker in most cases "looking better" is subjective (I think soarers look like any other generic Japanese car from that era) give me an old 70s v8 (no aircon or power steering) any day of the week. But I guess people could pay for the look. As for quicker, a lot of the time in Brisbane a push bike is quicker then a car. Even s***** 4cylinder cars can reach the speed limit. But I get that some people need to know they could be doing 200kph ... if they weren't stuck in traffic doing 5kph. I guess looks and the possibility you'll get to the speed limit once in a while faster then a few other people might be a good enough reason oO Is there a Soarers collectors club or something ? ie. are these a collectible or enthusiasts car ? |
yes because everyone only drives their car in peak hour traffic
looks are subjective, i personally don't like soarers they have the same boring oval shape as the vt/vx commodores. but they came with 2 sweet engines but they are so heavy with all the luxuries and they are just rarer on the roads... everyone has a vs commodore. and they are slow and bogan yes there would be a soarer forum with all the fanboys doing cruises etc like any other car |
old jap cars s*** on most aussie new cars
now korean cars, korean cars are the future! |
In a Korean car the passengers are the crumple zone.
|
In a Korean car the passengers are the crumple zone.ahaha |
i have a deep passionate love for big fat aussie rwd cars
but anyone who reckons a dirty old vr stato is in anyway comparable to a soarer don't know s*** about cars, let alone driven a soarer $8.5k for that example seems like a bloody bargain to me |
Triamks it's an 18 year old car, paying over 10K would be criminal! Yeah, yeah I know. I didn't quite get across what I wanted to in my post. It's hard to explain. |
94, similar k's VR Statesman. $5000 *shrug* The seller should pay someone 5k to take his car, statesman crap. |
How bout a car from anywhere that is newer (thus better condition) has less miles and is cheaper ? You can't compare a Commodore, or even a Statesman to a Soarer. It's just a totally different class. In 1991 Soarers had: Colour Television GPS Heated belts and seats 12 direction movable electronic leather seats Ultrasonic rear vision mirror cleaners (and another button heats them, another folds them in or out) Climate Control standard (in the GTL's) Amplified sub woofer with front splits (and other speakers in the back) LCD rear vision mirror Reverse camera Digital dash Airbags Light sensing headlights Speed and water sensing wipers airbag suspension, some with auto-levelling that corrects the cars level in corners etc etc etc, that's all I can come up with right now but after owning one even going to a WHII Statesman seemed like a step down. There's a hell of a lot more little super awesome things but .. I'm mid doing stuff atm. PS, I do like Falcadores also, well, more the dore side. Edit: It's an 18year old car with 150k's. V8 so not overly cheap to run, insure or rego. 4L quad OH cam Toyota V8's are pretty reasonable on fuel, comparable to/better then most 6cyl aussie cars. Insurance also isn't too bad unless you're bad at driving/new to driving. I paid less on the 2 door coupe V8 Soarer then I do on the Jeep. last edited by Syco at 22:25:52 11/Nov/09 |
that 4 litre v8 s**** on anything holden could produce through the 90's
|
So we've established that my car is awesome.
Anybody want to buy it? |
that 4 litre v8 s**** on anything holden could produce through the 90's I meant the fuel consumption is comparable/better then the local 6's. Someone buy his Soarer then buy mine for parts :D I put it on ebay and had some douche come look at it yesterday and offer me $1000. It just needs a buff, new clear coat, some electric problem sorted and a few other bits and pieces. I should just spend the time/money on it myself then sell for 8k or whatever. |
I meant the fuel consumption is comparable/better then the local 6's. i meant > * |
I call that car rego raping guzzler.
|
Will it fit all my IT Gear, The Wife, A kid in her child seat and all the groceries?
|
nah people in your position don't buy 2 door luxury/sports cars
they buy commodores - enjoy |
also, my prius club meets every saturday afternoon at milton mcdonalds for all those interested!
