So yeah there was a crash near me today.
Apparantly the taxi was carrying 3 elderley female passengers and he lost control on Gympie Rd at Kedron near the Eddie Castle. http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg35/ggb777/DCP_0002-1.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg35/ggb777/DCP_0007-1.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg35/ggb777/DCP_0006-1.jpg Came down Gympie Rd lost control http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg35/ggb777/DCP_0003-1.jpg On to the kerb http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg35/ggb777/DCP_0001-1.jpg through the garden like a ramp .. http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg35/ggb777/DCP_0002-1.jpg JUMP ! http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg35/ggb777/DCP_0008-1.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg35/ggb777/DCP_0009-1.jpg No injuries that i know of. The driver was an Indian guy. |
I'm surprised you were able to hang around and trample all the evidence surrounding the scene.
|
shame about the passengers
but isn't it weird that cabbies are such amazingly dangerous drivers, I see it all the time shouldn't they do something about that :/ One time I saw a cab hit a midget in a wheelchair crossing the road outside RGs in The Valley and the midget flew straight into the side of an ambulance that was already there treating an overdose. Well I didn't see the moment it happened, because I was busy watching the overdose guy having a fit. |

are cabbies becoming worse drivers?
im driving home yesterday through the back of salisbury behind nyanda high school theres a little dip where the road rises and then comes back down along the train line, and im on a give way, signed and marked on the road; old mate indian cabbie coming the down the hill has no give way sign, no markings on road, stops (with a full car) like he doesnt know who has right of way wtf, how is this clown on the road? let alone driving others? |
because I was busy watching the overdose guy having a fit. and so was the cabbie..... Damn that would have been funny though (but not for the midget). |
well spook it's an interesting topic. It's a pity that people see one or two cabbies shocking driving and then assume all cabbies are s*** drivers. There are some cabbies that have driven millions of kays and are epic drivers.
|
lol, that masonic place has been there since forever.
|
pretty lucky the cabbie had all those bushes to roll over in imo.
is that spice of india place any good? never been there :D There are some cabbies that have driven millions of kays and are epic drivers. yeh there definitely are some cabbies who are great drivers with awesome road knowledge n experience... but they are a tiny minority from my experience. ie: i've had one good cab driver in brisbane... in my entire life :P last edited by demon at 14:10:37 28/Aug/09 |
yeah i think they're becoming rarer and rarer demon, they're a dying breed it seems.
i had one indian dude one day who whilst didn't know brisbane too well, he could handle the big falcon pretty well |
I don't think it's a very interesting topic mrhardware
some ppl do a lot of k's, some ppl don't some ppl are unco, some ppl aren't |
to be more specific jim the interesting topic is that people will stereotype one group of people based on only a handful of experiences.
|
I had one cabbie in Brisbane who was proud of the fact that one of his passengers from the previous night didn't have any money to pay for the ride. So they came to a mutual agreement that the passenger sucked his d*** for a while, male passenger by the way. He said it was good, some of the best head he's had and to top it off, the guy even swallowed.
I quickly checked I had my wallet and sufficient funds to pay for the journey.... |
this is not a new phenomenon hoggy.
|
petrol will catch fire and explode before the LPG does
|
There are some cabbies that have driven millions of kays and are epic drivers. Are you sure you didn't mean they swam millions of kays from the smugglers boat? |
Maybe the LPG tank exploded which caused him to have the accident in the first place.
|
I blame the freemasons for the accident. Damn freemasons and their subliminals........ |
all i ever see from cabbies is them thinking they are more important because "they drive for a living" or whatever
so i always try to get in their way and make their life s***. |
paveway, you're a f***head. next time you're in a cab be happy to have some c*** block you when you're in a hurry.
|
also
the car is a BA Falcon, Yellow cab 460, don't know where it drives out of, but you see above the fleet number it has 'ST' in big letters there? That's a Substitute Taxi. So when a cab is broken down they use the ST in its place. |
cabs block more than other cars, they don't even pull off the road to pick up passengers sometimes, they just stop there. I make sure their passengers get an earful of my s***.
|
Falcons are always broken down, so they must have a crap load of ST cars, yeah?
|
lmao paveway
props to OP, QGL news correspondent. |
average ratio for ST's is about 12-15:1.
|
Pretty solid crash. He made sure of it.
|
spotted the masonic logo in pic #3 - conspiracy? I framed that pic just to fit it in. Good to see someone else is looking for signs... |
he was probably not concentrating, on the phone trying to sell cable television to the masses.
|
Reminded me of this time when we had macca's breakfast on the way to work because we were running late and this crash unfolded right in front of our eyes. It was on the Warrego highway on the way to Gatton. A small 4 banger car had crept out too far at a T junction and and just nicked the rear end of this big, black, late model BMW 4WD and sent it screeching sideways at 100-110km/h until it went down a little bank and come to a stop at a fence. To my surprise the BMW didn't roll.
here's a re-enactment http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu34/zylox747/servocrash.jpg |
interesting, car accidents always have some strange interest to me. here are some pics from one a few weeks ago up the road from my place.

Stupid bogans, smashing the windscreen with your head is not cool.
|
That's ad campaign worthy IMO. Look at the head-shaped smash in the windscreen, followed by a pic with a kid with a bleeding face and neckbrace. Give mum a punch in the face, and explain to the kid, "this is why you should always wear seatbelts".
|
holy c***rag batman, he completely flipped it!@
i hate cabbies - about two weeks ago a cabbie crashed into my hilux and bent my new bullbar :( i was driving north from the story bridge -> gipps street where its 3 lanes before the valley 5 ways just after the corner of whickham/gipps I was going up to st pauls terrace, cabbie was in middle lane and im in the far left lane anyway the cabbie just starts to merge into my lane and f*****g side swipes me because he wanted to go to st pauls terrace from his middle lane there was 3 18-25 y/o male passengers in the taxi and they didn't know what to say i stepped out of the hilux *f*****g enraged* and handed it to this wanker cab driver he s*** himself, locked his doors and wound his window up, called the cops etc etc |
haha oh dear teq... let me guess - you stood up for yourself and the cabbie came off second best? :p
|
4 serials, who the f*** over the age of 2 doesnt wear a seatbelt
|
Hahah teq, that's just gold, you in a merging accident.... who could have predicted that!?!
|
who the f*** doesn't wear a seatbelt, what a deads***
|
Give mum a punch in the facef*** that, that face would bust every bone in your hand |
Jesus teq, you get into heaps of traffic "incidents". Makes you wonder if you might be the cause...
|
haha obviously
he raced off from the lights, I took off normally .. he realised he couldn't get in front of me in time and just decided that there was a good chance I'd slow down to let him in f*** him I say! he came off second best fo shizzle I got my ute fixed within a week and he needed two new doors (passenger side) as a bonus they also color coded my bullbar to the same color as the hilux and they fixed a big ass scratch that I put in my drivers door last time I went camping at double island all in all, i came out of the whole thing quite well |
Seen the new ad the government is bringing out for people who text while driving? It was on ACA I think. Probably worse than the speeding one where the baby and mother get killed.
|
I actually had a taxi driver mate working for Black And White who used to brag about this time he ran someone over, and they tried to sue him, but he got away with it.
Got lots of funny stories about that guy, he's had quite a few hilarious job experiences since. He's from Bangladesh and does not like it when I call him an Indian. |
I had a mate who was a cabbie. He was always gettin into fights and he never lost one. haha.
|
Came down Gympie Rd lost control Driving in a straight line is harder than it looks. last edited by FocaL at 18:11:45 28/Aug/09 |

So they came to a mutual agreement http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Qzd9HIsRWeA/SF9cRN3okuI/AAAAAAAAJfA/tpfPxVrzRIA/s400/George Carlin.jpg Ain't that just the rules of the road? |
teq, your ute's had more hits than elvis
and was it one lane ending or two lanes merging into one? |
Amateur attempt at windscreen demolition.
I was wearing a seatbelt, however windscreen came to me (gearbox came up an took a shot at my arm) :O My head went through windscreen and seatbelt snapped into place finally which stopped head from going all the way through and decapitating me when inertia finished. Mine was much better! At least the driver got a broken arm and battery acid burns to her face. Guy behind me ost all his top front teeth Chick in middle seat had the drive shaft come up an through smashing her ankle. Guy directly behind driver got out without a scratch. Only reason I'm still alive today annoying you lot was cause I was wearing a seatbelt. Come to think of it, that woman driving is probably what the chick driver I was tuning way back then now looks like ! |
hardware.. it was like this
http://unix.org.au/~brett/images/f***cabs.JPG my utes 11 months old, it's had 5 panels resprayed, some of them twice i didn't pay for any of them ;) |
result of not wearing a seatbelt in the front. dammit natural selection where where you?? I know that maccas near gatton well, I grew up out that way :( EDIT, actually from your pic teq, I'm thinking of somewhere else last edited by WetWired at 23:31:12 28/Aug/09 |
i'm still struggling with the fact that the taix driver was an Indian! surely not!!
|
i think jabroney was there with the ambos, surprised he hasnt said anything yet...
|
yeah that driver who happened to be a cabbie was a turd.
|
This thread needs less mspaint and more GIMP!
|
Out of all the cars I've seen on their roofes from accidents.. It's been Cabs. WTF!
|
mr hardware stop sticking up for cabbies...
'that driver HAPPEN to be a turd' like it's a one in a million occurrence that a cabbie is a d******* they are all d*******s, bar a few maybe |
Back at uni days I drove a cab for about a month or 2 and i wasn't a d******* :(
I let a bunch of fellas drink in the cab. They seemed responsible enough so i said sure why not provided they don't mess it up otherwise they paying for the cleaning. They thought i was the coolest arab taxi driver and gave me a $20 tip. last edited by The Match Fixer at 09:31:56 29/Aug/09 |
they are all d*******s, bar a few maybe Same could be said for people who drive Ricers |
same could be said about commodore drivers...
|
Nah, just ricers Besides, I drive a Falcon |
lol sucks to be you
country pack + lpg? best car in the world i hear |
Teq, it seems like you were in technically in the right in your situation, but it sounds like you probably could have avoided the situation if you wanted to, but you didnt becuase you wanted to prove a point or something?
I could have run into heaps of people merging when they shouldnt have or just pulling out in front of me, but even if you are in the right, shouldnt you just try to avoid the accident? |
haha omg i probably saw u dude, I was doing a placement with the Ambo's yesterday and we were first on scene at this accident yesterday. Yea the indian driver was fine no injuries at all would you believe. I was the schmo walking around with a fluro yellow jacket saying ambulance on it
|
I didnt see an ambulance. Is it true 3 old ladies were in the taxi ?
|
I don't think it's a very interesting topic mrhardware I dont know why, this just seemed the rigth pic for the moment :p http://users.bigpond.net.au/et/images/small_problem_4jim.jpg last edited by E.T. at 12:26:21 29/Aug/09 |
speaking of taxi crashes has anyone heard about the taxi that cleaned up a pedestrian in the valley out the front of the arena?? my friend saw it happen the weekend but there has been nothing in the news and i can't find anything on the net. guy was hurt pretty bad from what I've heard
|
haha et
at least all my oopsies have been either rallying or 4wding, never on the road apart from squashing small cars in that hide behind my spare wheel in car parks, but that's not counted is it? can someone check the rules? |
that's actually not terribly uncommon fubar. a lot of drunks step out infront of cars, especially cabs. lots of cabbies hit pedestrians who walk out in the middle of the road, except usually all they get is a few bruises rather than being cleaned up
|
thanks to cabbies SuperAbility to wrench the steering wheel to one side and put the car on it's roof in some carpark or shopfront, allowing the pedestrian to escape with self-inflicted bruises from tripping over as they try to negotiate the curb on the other side of the road
|
you could do a script for team america 2 mrhardware but instead of gary's acting being the sought-after skill to save the world: FatBob's cabbying skill
if our goverment won't present medals of valour to our cabbies, we can at least damn well honour their godliness theatrically! |
sure. i can think of the names now: Barry, Gary, Bob, Graham, John and Pete.
|
teq from previous posts in other threads you mentioned how you love confrontations in the traffic world and you never back down, like you're out there to prove a point. Maybe it's because of your size, maybe it's because of your bogan bull bar, maybe because of both, and then some, but it sounds like most of the time you could have avoided the situation if you really wanted to but you choose not because you're a such a hardcore vigilante SOB (B for Bogan).
When you mature soon enough you'll realise eventually that sometimes it just ain't worth it, especially now that you have a lil bub to look after. last edited by The Match Fixer at 10:00:24 30/Aug/09 |
match fixer, you're never going to convince me
firstly, i'd never do anything with my wife or child in the car secondly, I go so far out of my way to be courteous on the roads to anyone else who also displays the same kind of courtesy (to me or other drivers) if i see you cut someone off in my rear view, then you try and do the same to me - of course you're going to get a hard time from me if you just drift into my lane with no indicator and expect that i will slow down so your car doesn't hit mine, you're probably delusional and deserve having to fork over your insurance excess to learn a valuable lesson on the same note, if i see you have just let someone in from a side street, then you need to take my lane, i will actively slow down and wave you in i am not and never will be one of these drivers who just thinks driving is a means to get from point A to point B so why bother paying too much attention I am *always* wary of what people might be doing, I'm just waiting for the day when someone inevitably pulls out from behind a bus that's stopped - into my lane because the right lane is flowing freely, only to have my run up their ass because they didn't check .. its a matter of time Maybe it's because of your size, maybe it's because of your bogan bull bar, maybe because of both maybe its because people will continue to be c**** if they think they can always get away with it i'm not a vigilante, i've never been charged, never used physical violence, never maliciously damaged someone elses property I just tell it like it is. |
Tequila seriously you are such an ass. If you could have avoided an accident you bloody well should have.
You'd rather f*****g cause harm or injury to another living being over a technicality? Your a psycho. You say you didn't cause property damage? It is clearly evident that you willfully did damage property, you knew firsthand that you could have avoided the entire accident. last edited by Corrupt at 12:17:25 30/Aug/09 |
As for why cabbies have so many accidents, driving a cab is not a well paying job cabbies do a lot of hours for very little money. This is only 1 of the reasons.
|
Right on match fixer!.
Teq, I can see where you are coming from, sometimes I wanna do the same thing, but it realy isnt worth it. Even if you are technically right in all situations, as a good driver, you should also avoid accidents whenever you can, and even though that person merged on you without indicating or waited to the last minute and swerved over, if you can see it happening and can avoid an accident, then you should, and I say that the fact that you didnt take any evasive actions makes you partly at fault for the resulting accident. (yes yes, you never had to take fault insurance wise cause you were technicaly right, thats not my point) Im not saying that you should just slow down and let people in all over the place, I will always try to block some d******* I see trying to race up a sidelane and push in and I always follow the 1-1 rule when dealing with merging lanes, that is everyone lets in 1 person, everyone is happy, and if some person trys to break the rule, then I just wont let them in. Imagine next time some dude goes to merge into your lane at speed, and he may be in the wrong, so you go, f*** this guy and clip him in the back end, he spins around into another lane, gets cleaned up by another car and someone dies, betcha it wont fell so good then. |
I didnt see an ambulance. Is it true 3 old ladies were in the taxi ? nah man, just the taxi driver luckily we left after a few minutes because no one was hurt. let the police and fireman to the cleanup |
You'd rather f*****g cause harm or injury to another living being over a technicality? being a c*** isn't a technicality, its a choice It is clearly evident that you willfully did damage property, you knew firsthand that you could have avoided the entire accident. avoiding this incident would have meant mounting the kerb in my ute, not going to happen when i can quite easily and quickly calculate that him crashing into me would cause only slight damage to my car, which he has to pay for anyway if i run up the kerb and he keeps driving, best case i get to beep the horn at him and then i have to fork out cash to fix my car/rims etc cabs are all wankers and yes they work long hours for s*** money but that isn't my problem, nor is it the problem of other drivers on the road they shouldn't get extra points on their licence either, but that's another story last edited by tequila at 20:03:49 30/Aug/09 |
I hate the way taxi's drive like 20km/h under the speed limit when they're carrying people so the drive lasts longer but seriously, when you're goin that slow how the hell do you lose it and end up upside down? Another reason why I hate ALL taxi drivers, none of the bastards can drive properly and it's their job. GTFO my country.
|
firstly, i'd never do anything with my wife or child in the caryoure married? ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffck |
I hate the way taxi's drive like 20km/h under the speed limit when they're carrying people so the drive lasts longerI'm pretty sure the meter is calculated based on Km's. Paging Mr Hardwart |
adults don't do this kind of stuff, only boys and retards.
|
I'm pretty sure the meter is calculated based on Km's. I believe he'll say there are two measurements, one based on speed (or something) and kms. |
the meter works on both time and distance but you get more money the move distance you cover.
|
I'm pretty sure the meter is calculated based on Km's. Paging Mr HardwartYeah. Mainly based on kays, but when you drop to below 20kmh it flicks back over to time, which is epically s***, 69c/min. On average a cabbie will take a bit over a dollar for every kilometre he drives, so it is within his best interests to drive as fast as he possibly can, cue OP pics. Cabbies who drive slow are s*** cabbies. |
Before I clicked on this thread I was thinking "omg I bet its one of those nut case indian cab drivers" and hey presto what do you know.
I mean what happened in the last 12 months its like the entire cab force has been infiltrated by indians. And they're f*****g bad drivers most of the time!! |
lols, my IT crew at work is all indians
|
On average a cabbie will take a bit over a dollar for every kilometre he drives You sure? I got a cab honme from the city on Friday night at 2.30am (man the city is s*** at night) and it cost me $19.00 from near the Victory to Annerley, about 5 kms :( |
mission what you pay on the meter is not what the driver gets
|
Yeah mish. It's probably a little higher than that these days, i'd say about $1.30/k. You've just got to remember cabs do a fair bit of dead-running as they call it, ie driving to jobs etc. Yes sometimes the cabbie'll have a good run where he'll just go from rank to rank and hardly have any waiting and make a motza off flagfalls, and then there's the time where the only work going on is in the city so he'll take a job at the queen st rank and run out to, lets pick some random ordinary suburb like salisbury, and then run the whole 13 kays back empty. Or the instance where he gets a couple of no-show's (M15/A15) in a row and he can easily run 30 kays without making a cent.
And whilst that's true wild wizard i am talking about meter_take/kays. The cabbie'll usually receive 50% of his take with the other 50% going to fuel and all the other car costs and back to the car owner. Just for reference, an average take for an average day (4am to 4pm) will be about $350-$400 for a cabbie. He sees half of this, and then you've got to remember this is pre tax, and this is pure casual type rates, ie no holiday pay, sick pay, super etc. last edited by Mr Hardware at 10:21:25 31/Aug/09 |
so what, I have no sympathy
they're c**** and I wish the police would crack down on the illegal ones that don't have a licence (cab or drivers), can't drive for s*** / don't speak english Driving all day doesn't give them the right to just do what they please on the roads |
man its a s*** job.
I bet you wouldnt last a day in a cab. I got a soft spot for cabbies. Cabbies are great guys to share a drink with. well the english speaking ones... |
1st faceman post i agree with
|
Wiping period blood off the seats
Cleaning up spew drunk chicks that pee on the seats dealing with drunks dealing with racists ppl arguing over fares wrong directions getting assaulted getting threatened fare jumpers Plenty of work around if you are interested. |
Fubar yeah, my sis was there as well. The guy came out 2nd best. The maxi taxi had a broken windshield and a bit of blood here and there. The guy came out alrite, had to be taken to the hospital but fortunately lived. And nah, havn't seen anything about it in the media
|
man its a s*** job. good thing I couldn't care less and wouldn't be a cabbie if you paid me twice what im earning now I got a soft spot for truckies, bus drivers, etc cabbies are in the same sized vehicle i'm in, often smaller - so they can abide by the same rules that apply to me I'll go out of my way to help a truckie out period, they need a s*** load more room on all sides and they deserve it, they're also some of the best drivers out there because they have to be. wankers in small cars that cut truckies off and don't leave much room for the truck to break behind them etc - they have to plan for other peoples stupidity cab drivers just think they deserve more because they drive a lot |
I am definately in agreement that cab drivers need to lift their driving skill but driving licenses aren't the answer, driver training is the answer.
|
and this is what he really said:
I hate cabbies cause they're mainly Indians and middle easterners, but i like truckies cause they're mainly bogansTeq on the QGL forums, 6:36pm, 2009. |
You got me all wrong big fella.
Though 10/10 for being honest in admitting you're a bogan. |
