Is it possible to take your car from australia to new zealand? I've tried googling it but it just comes up with rental companies and how fuggan great and pretty our country is >.<
ps. does anyone know assuming its possible, roughly how much it'd cost? thanks in advance ;) |
try toll.
i know they move cars interstate. i work in transport my experience is if the company is big enough they will have sweet contacts and organize it all. even if they personally dont touch the freight. they will just charge you their 10% (or whatever) included in their quote. |
is it permanent or are you wanting to drive your car around on a holiday etc?
its something like $3-5k to ship a car in a container from japan to here so i'd have to imagine it would be a bit less to NZ http://www.emigratenz.co.uk/emigrate-new-zealand/should-i-ship-my-car-out/ I'd just open the whitepages and find shipping companies that deal with the public but unless your car is worth >$20k its probably not worth it sell it here, buy something else over there they dont pay any tax on cars there because they dont produce any cars (import taxes etc) |
I've heard if you take off the wheels, the guards and something else and ship them seperately it's a lot cheaper because it's classed as spare parts. I dunno if that's true or if it was whether they've closed that loophole, nor do I know just how much cheaper it was. That's what I was told when I was looking at importing a car from japan though.
|
possible but you'd be an idiot to. you've already paid the stupid aussie import duties and you'll be shipping it somewhere with none. better off just selling it here and buying a new one there.
|
it would have to be the best car in the world to even consider it
|
not anymore, 3 door silver daewoo!
|
unlikely to be worthwhile, in NZ cars are pretty cheap.
|
plus nz has all sorts of mad jap imports that we don't
nissan glorias, toyota aristos/mark IIs etc |
Correct me if Im wrong but doesnt NZ have no Import tax? It might be easier to go to NZ and import your car across from there to bypass Ausi Taxs and laws.
|
plus nz has all sorts of mad jap imports that we don't nissan glorias, toyota aristos/mark IIs etc err we have aristos here |
yeah i know, but nowhere near the numbers they do in nz
|
and its a damn shame. aristo's are fkn sweeeet. id have one
|
king oath, should have been ADM.

ps. does anyone know assuming its possible, roughly how much it'd cost? I dunno how helpful this is going to be (didn't read the thread), but the brother in law sent his VX Commy to England for $2000 AU 5 years ago. go figure - he ran it around for about 6 months and then some idiot wrote it off in a prang. the insurance paid out $55k AU because (get this) it's "an exotic import". He bought it I'll have to update this with model/year details the next time I talk to the family last edited by koopz at 19:48:42 21/Jun/09 |
