This show has been out a few months but it is so good it deserves its own thread.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1856010/ It's a political drama starring Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Kate Mara. Produced and partially directed by David Fincher (Fight Club, The Game, The Social Network) it has been nominated for nine Emmy Awards. Spacey plays a conniving Democratic Majority Whip who is working his way up the food chain in The White House and occasionally talks to the camera. Wright is his austere, 40 something wife who is also a capable career woman. Kate Mara plays a journalist who gets involved in their conspiracies. Edit: I deleted this thread after discovering the old one, but then I realised the old one has been archived and can't be replied to. It has some good info about Netflix: http://www.ausgamers.com/forums/general/thread.php/3271384 |
I thought it was a good show, worth the watch.
|
should we watch the english or the american version?
|
american. spacey makes the show. I never watched the UK one, but: IT'S KEVIN SPACEY.
|
Yeah he is awesome in it.
Pretty dark show. I might get the English version to tide me over the long summer after homeland and sons of anarchy are over. |
Not that long ago a film actor moving to TV would have been considered a demotion & career nearly over... But these days with Netflix & Hulu etc alongside HBO, AMC & Showtime TV is where it's at.
Also yeah, it's Kevin Spacey. He's awesome. |
Really good show and yes surprisingly dark.
|
Took a couple of eps to warm into, but was great after that. Was the same with Orange is the New Black for me as well - once I had an idea of who was who, then it was fun.
|
agree with everything posted ITT
took me ages to get around to watching the first ep of House of Cards, was hooked instantly... took me a few eps to get into Orange is the New Black but was worth the effort too |
It's dark and gritty like Boss, which if you like this you'll probably like that too.
|
Is this the same show that went direct to netflix?
