All their albums have had a different sound so it's no surprise this is different to everything else.

No, I expected them to change it up and I do like the direction they chose. But it has been hyped to hell, so I think I was expecting a delivery that was in line with all of the pre-release promotion I have seen/heard.

It's not a bad record at all, very enjoyable and I dig it. But I'm not sure it matches the hype on first listen at least.

I wonder if people who do this are already walking in ready to be cynical or they're being objective. What I've heard so far is i've been like "Hey this is a fun smooth track that is packed with interesting stuff" then some DJ announces "That was the latest from Daft punk" and i go "More like Daft Funk" and giggle to myself happily.

Honestly though how you could be in any mood other than happy after it makes me worry about you. A little, like, i wonder if you're going to snap and try and go on mass killings.

i just like my music a little less middle of the road adult contemporary

listening to the album now, will see if anything on their changes my mind.

not particularly wanting to be one of those people who like their old stuff better than their new stuff, but homework is one of my favourite albums of all time

cool people trying to intellectualise what is essentially a matter of taste. it sure is i myself describe it as 'a.....album'

seriously though it is funky, fun and head nodding with a couple of standout tracks, 'give life back to music' and 'doin it right' does it for me. i think of what they'll do with it for alive '17 and my god.... it will be epic.

cracking album yo

so yer, ive listened to the whole album, i stand behind my original comments.
way too vocally, i dont want vocals in my music.
and i just dont like the style of this music.

probably picks of the album for me were mother and contact.

at least in contact i could actually hear the daft punk sound i know and love, hidden away behind all the gay disco sounds.

I think you guys are smoking crak, this album is really underwhelming and average except for 'get lucky', absolutely love that song, I think Pharell and Nile saved it though from what it could otherwise have been.

Bit annoyed how they released their only good song 'Get Lucky' to generate the overwhelming next coming of christ hype..

videos like this:

watching that video makes it look like it is going to be some f*****g ridiculously awesome album

instead the album makes me want to go and have a snooze while listening to one of the songs on it that sounds like it is a guy sing in front of a 3 piece drum kit

well in my case maybe not, I didn't buy into all the hype. Problem is 'Get Lucky' set the bar soo high that the other songs are soo 'meh' for me.. The other tracks honestly sound like "filler tracks" just to complete the album, anyway just how i feel.

Just got around to having a full listen to the album and I'm not a fan at all.

I love Contact, and Georgio by Moroder isn't bad (would be so much better without the old dude talking) but the rest of the album is boring nu-disco type stuff that just doesn't do it for me.

I feel like if this album was put out by a band who wasn't Daft Punk, they'd get very little recognition for it, and i feel that Daft Punk are now trading on the name of who they once were. Is the album good? Yeah, largely. Is it great? Nope.

I feel that's unfair.

I think its a pretty god damn album. It might not have the legs it does if its not daft punk but that's just them using profile to draw attention to something a nobody couldn't.

I've smashed this album over the last three weeks. 70's disco is fine with me.

Its very unlike their other albums, and I think they pulled a bit of a bait and switch with the marketing campaign, even though Daft Punk are quoted as saying they wanted to make a disco album that everyone hated.

Personally, I had much more fun with M83's go at a disco album.

You can get the album for free without buying in it. Anyway their new single 'Get Lucky' is really catchy and stuff and their music is great but what's the point in the helmets. I know they're trying to hide their identity cause they don't want fans jumping all over them but they look a bit daft and funny. It's like 2 guys in a helmet or whatever it is.What is the point of it? I mean it scares me a bit and you don't really know what's under there, it could be like aliens or something. They haven't showed their faces since the 1990's, I guess they're trying to look cool or something but to me it's strange and it's so unhuman...
