Just got back from seeing it, so I'll get the ball rolling!
I thought it was pretty awesome, but really different to what I was expecting. I mean its still a Marvel movie so its more comic book than something like Dark Knight Rises was, but it almost felt like a Marvel approach to something like Dark Knight Rises, in that it was a lot more about Tony Stark and less about Iron Man and Tony Stark dealing with the fallout of the s*** he did in Avengers and just how being Iron Man is f*****g with him. Theres still some great action sequences with the Iron Man suit(s), but a lot more of Tony Stark having to actually do s*** and fight people and get out of trouble without his armor, or with makeshift bits and pieces. Really cool villain too, made it more personal and not just Iron Man fighting robots or another guy in armour. Negatives for me were the fact that a lot of the action sequences where hes Iron Man are already in the trailer, so that was a bit spoiled, and War Machine pretty much does nothing (though Rhodes gets a lot more scenes out of his armor and gets to kick some ass out of his armor too so that was good). And don't get excited about the Hulk Buster armour that shows up in the trailer, because that scene in the trailer is pretty much all you see of it in the movie :( And yes theres a post-credits scene so stick around if thats your thing. |
What did you think of the second one Khel?
I thought the second one was good but it was desperately missing a good villain. The russian wrestler was great at the start but fizzled out quickly. I remember the trailers and seeing him chop the car in 2 and I thought nice this villian looks awesome. Then they bring in a competitor who didnt really do much. It was lame ending to both bad dudes. |
Yeah, I thought they tried to cram too much into the second one as well cos of the build-up for the Avengers, made it end up feeling a bit all over the place. This one is a lot more streamlined, apart from one cameo and a couple of characters saying stuff like 'what about those aliens invading new york hey!' they've kept it just about Tony Stark/Iron Man stuff.
Don't want to say too much about the vllain in this one, cos its done pretty well, and its something the trailer actually doesn't entirely give away, but yeah its not just another guy in armor like they've done the last two times. |
Mickey Rourke was s***. I also don't like any time Iron Man has to fight someone which is essentially perfectly matched with Iron Man, using the same sort of technology. F*****g stupid. How come John McClane never had to fight someone with Iron Man's suit? See what I'm saying?
So I hope Iron Man 3 is good, but the trailer makes it look all sad and s*** like that crap Spiderman movie where he gives up being Spiderman.... Well then don't call it Spiderman just call the movie "Toby McGuire". |
Seeing it at IMAX tomorrow, super pumped! Thanks for not spoiling anything Khel
|
F*** iron man, Dredds where its at. None of this M rated pussy s*** to appeal to kiddies. Just about to start watching dredd, super pumped! Tarantino also knows whats up with his MA movies.

Saw it yesterday at germie v-max 3D
I thought it was awesome. Tony Stark/Iron Man is one of the best superheroes ever invented. I find Batman rather lame and boring with the whole 'i'm so dark and mysterious' act, where as Tony Stark is all 'hell yeah i'm iron man!'. Spoiler: Best character of the movie? Trevor. Funny as s*** from the outset, what a legend. Overall, I'd say better than iron man 2. I didn't like the antagonist(s) as discussed in IM2, but it was juuuuust right in IM3. Damn good movie, do recommend. |
I heard there's a kid in this. How annoying is he? Is he annoying like Jake Lloyd or that kid from Jerry Maguire?
|
Hes the kid from Real Steel, hes not too annoying, not as annoying as I was expecting. Still would have preferred no kid though
|
Just watched it myself, f*****g epic!
Kid wasn't annoying at all (and I'm considered a cynic). Will definitely be adding this to my blue-ray collection when it comes out. |
It was boring. So way over the top. I tuned out.
|
Weakest of the 3 movies, was ok but nothing awesome.
|
Something wrong with you two.
Haters just gotta hate I guess. Story was more about the man not the suit so that may have off put some people. There were so many classic comic book fight moments, fists punching each others fists etc. |
thought it was a great movie, could have used more action though (tony stark in suit kicking arse)...
|
Saw it today in 3D - quite liked it - now making me looking forward to the new Captain America and Thor movies
|
I saw it in Gold Class on Wednesday. It was great, I liked the twist.
After movie credits bit was a bit lame, well not just a bit. Totally not worth waiting for :/ I thought it a good film to round out the rest. |
yeah the after credits scene that was rumoured a while ago sounded so much better.
|
yeah i wtf'd about the after credits scene - of all the things to put, that was a bit of a filler
|
I liked the movie but I did not like
Spoiler: that the mandarin was not how he is in the comics and such. what no rings of power? that would have been better. |
but cheez you've got to remember, are they making a movie, or a live action comic book?
|
Keen to go see this. Also I have a FWB who finds RDJ hot as, so might have to invite her along. Why wouldnt you? That's what he's for. |
but cheez you've got to remember, are they making a movie, or a live action comic book? the first 3 movies (im1,2,avengers) did ok as live action comic books... my biggest complaint about this movie was that it lacked that comic book feeling, there was no sense that it was the same universe 1, 2, avengers etc lived in. still thoroughly enjoyed it as a movie though |
Yeah I enjoyed it as a movie,
Spoiler: It was just misleading with the trailers and such putting the Mandarin as the antagonist of the movie and then throwing the curveball such as they did. Then the ending? How does that roll into Avengers 2, it had Tony Stark will return, not Ironman. |
You're upset that the movie wasn't spoiled by the trailers?
|
Yeah, I liked that for a change it wasn't totally spoiled by the trailers (even though I think it would have been even more awesome if stuff like all his suits showing up at the end wasn't spoiled in the trailer).
Spoiler: I liked the way they did the Mandarin cos tbh, from the trailers I was thinking he was going to turn out far too corny and silly and Ben Kingsley seemed like he was really hamming it up. I liked that that turned out to actually be intentional and there was a real reason for it. |
