Ever since the doctors jumped ship, BioWare has looked... well, rocky. Mass Effect: Andromeda was a carbon copy of the original trilogy with blatantly less dynamic characters and no real evolution in design, and certainly no evolution in story. And Anthem, well, looks like a Destiny clone. So there's also that. But studio manager Casey Hudson wants you to believe they're on the right track and he's attempting to be transparent about it.
Specifically, he's started a blog not at all dissimilar to a number of other studio blogs going around. Here's what he had to say in his first post: When I returned to BioWare last summer, Mass Effect: Andromeda had just been released and there was a significant movement among players asking for a story DLC that would answer questions surrounding the fate of the quarians. As you know, we were not able to deliver story DLC for Andromeda—this was as frustrating for us as it was for players, and it was something we knew we had to solve in future games. So we're over a year out from Anthem, at least, dropping on retail shelves and with the troubles Destiny is already facing, it could be construed as BioWare having missed that boat altogether. To maintain the nautical metaphor. Still, Hudson has worked on the studio's best games from its history and if someone is gonna steer this ship, well we're glad it's him. |
