I'm using an Old (in the grand scheme of things) Core-i7-860 rig that I was considering selling at some point in the future, want me to keep you in mind?
Low K's, still goes well the current 'choke point' of this system is the Eyefinity 6 model ATi 5870 that I'm using.
(So it'll play everything, but there are better frame rates to be had with a different Vid card in this rig)

Yes, in theory you should be able to put a x1 in any of slots x1, x4, x8 and x16. I've put x4 and x8 cards in x16 slots, not 100% sure if I've specifically put a x1 in a x16.

Yes you can, I put a 1x SB sound card into the missus comp and no probs, (except maybe the drivers).

Intel 1000ct will do the job comes with stock PCI bracket and low profile - its a 1x PCIe card
