Hi all, Hope someone can suggest an easy fix for me. My wife got an iPod dock for Xmas which includes an FM tuner with DAB. problem is reception. Pretty ordinary at our place anyway but she has this in her sewing room where it is particularly terrible. The unit comes with a hard wired short wire antenna. Is there a simple way to perhaps extend this by splicing in some extra cable? Would that help? Any other ideas appreciated. Thanks |
25m parabolic dish imo
I also remain suspicious as to why anyone with a sewing room would be listening to FM radio :) |
Wire in one of these http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110994229208&clk_rvr_id=433773378991&item=110994229208&lgeo=1&vectorid=229515
just unsolder the wire on the radio and solder this onto the board and connect the shield to the ground plane and you should get better reception |
Thx Denominator, was hoping for an unintrusive fix. I'm not electrically literate.

Post pictures of how the antenna is mounted, and can it be unscrewed easily?

Post pictures of how the antenna is mounted, and can it be unscrewed easily? It's hard wired through the back panel. I assume directly soldered on inside. I'd have to take the panel off to have a good look. |
may have to stick to streaming radio via internets and just use the dock for ipod at home. still good for going away and what not.
