Hi guys,
a client has had their home cable modem die and needs it replaced. Normally we don't deal with home connections, but in this case the client happens to be a fairly senior person in their organisation so we're trying to keep them happy. None of our suppliers seem to carry cable modems and I've got NFI where to find one. From what I can see, the Motorola SB6120 looks to be a good option, but right now, I'll settle for anything half decent. |
Only the ISP supply new cable modems but you can find 2nd hand ones around (ebay etc). I've got 5 or so sbSB5101's just laying around if you are just after a wired cable modem and not a wifi enabled model. PM me if you want one. Is he on Optus or Telstra for cable?

I saw a heap in cash converters for 2.50 while looking for a cheap boxing bag today.
Edit: not a suggestion, I was just wondering who would buy them. Negress and motorola' last edited by mental at 17:17:51 29/Nov/12 |
Not alot to choose from probably cheaper to call up telstra and get them to give him one for free

There was a heap of 5100 or 5150's at the browns plains dump shop.

Telstra will replace it with a Netgear CG3100D-2 when it dies. Nothing wrong with it but I'm using it as a pure cable modem bridged with the Netgear WNDR3800.
Those Motorola Surfboards are really good (at least the 5xxx series are) and are probably even better when bridged with a router. |
Call up recontract for a new modem for free, if he is that old and on a 6210 he is probably on some old grandfathered plan that is $20 more expensive then current plans.
