So I've just come back from a weeks holiday and turned all my electronics back on to find my wifi isn't working on my router (ethernet\internet access is fine though)

I've reboot it a couple of times, changed channels, security options and I get nothing, nothing showing up on my devices and no wireless light on my the router. Anyone got any suggestions to fix it?

Was it surge protected? (Assuming main device works, and just wifi component is gone)

yeah the power board it's on has surge protection, everything has been off at the wall for the past week anyway.

Assuming a factory reset doesn't resolve the problem, then you've just experienced the downside of Billion routers - they degrade and die! Usually wireless becomes flaky and then doesn't work, then random ADSL disconnects, then router reboots/hangs, then problems booting up.

I have two dead 7404VGOX routers on my bookshelf that have both separately gone through all stages of degradation (both been behind expensive surge protectors too), as well as an earlier 7401 model. Rule of thumb is that if you get a Billion router then you should get a separate wireless AP upfront and then be ready to replace the Billion after about 2 years anyway.

Such a shame, their routers have such great features and are a pleasure to use in the first year.

Looks like Billion has a 2 year warranty which mine runs out next month, problem is I'd have to send it away for repairs and I don't know if it's worth the hassle of being netless

Any recomendations for a replacement? needs VOIP

Send it away, buy new one anyway, get it back and sell the replaced/fixed one as refurbished on ebay.

Fritzbox! I upgraded from BIlion 7404 VNPX to the Fritzbox 7390, i get better connection speeds around 3mbps more and VoIp is clearer and wifi goes further than the 7404.

yeah it has 4gigabit etherent ports also can you use 1 as WAN port so it supports 100mb Fibre down the track, can also use one of the LAN ports and wifi as "Guest" which means user can access your internet but not your network

Just replaced my 7404VNOX that the DSL died in with a 7800VDOX, its the best Billion I've had yet, fastest and most stable DSL I've had. I got a replacement 7404VNOX under warranty aswell so I have a good backup router now.

The Billion guy on Whirlpool is pretty active. You could always hit him up. Quentin or whatever his name is.
