Holy s***, I've never seen or heard of this before and it's about time something like this were on the market.

$150 for a watch *with an open SDK*?! To me, it's worth ten times that much if it can do all it says. To average Joe with a watch that can only do what it can do out of the box? Sure, I can see how you'd have to sell it pretty well at $150.
But to me, an experienced software developer? This thing's basically Arduino or RaspberryPi on crack.

Edit: If I knew I could sell 50 units, I'd happily chip in $10k.

It's a good idea but I'll wait for version 2. These things always have something lacking. At this point you know they're going to be made, and with that kind of investment you might even see the R&D pick up or the prices drop, etc...
Don't know if I'd be able to bring myself to wear a watch though, especially one that needs recharging. I have a Tokyo Flash watch that was a lot more expensive than this, and I don't wear that, though all it does is tell the time in a strange way.

First batch has sold out. Hopefully not long before 2nd release and hopefully it is improved.

Pity it didn't wait until next week, as we were waiting until pay day to grab an Office pack. Oh well.

I spotted it earlier, and avoided it. I f***** hate the idea of having to charge my watch.

Yes, they got so many supporters they had to put a limit on it. When they hit 70,000 (~$8m) devices that were going to need to be sent out, they set the limit to 85,000. It then hit 85,000 (~$10m) within about 12 hours.

But how much of a profit will they pull directly from the kickstarter.... they needed 100k, got 10 mil. This seems dodgy, I wonder if that dream team will start fighting over it.

The thing is, not only has that kickstarted Pebble, it's kickstarted Kickstarter. Kickstarter take 5% of all pledges to funded projects. On the Pebble project alone, they're sitting on $500,000 from from their slice.
