I've decided what I'm going to get,

Core i7 2700k
3.5GHz,8MB cache,850MHz 3D GPU $300

ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe Gen3 Motherboard, OR ASUS P8H61 V3 Motherboard B3 LGA1155, ($300 vs $70? which one to get)

Mach Xtreme 8GB (2x4G) Copper DDR3 1333Mhz CL9, $40

Now I can just use my old HDD from the computer I have now, there wouldn't be any problems? just 500gb hdd..

Now I want to keep my case, is my case big enough and powerful enough to hold all of those parts? It's a Thermaltake Soprano!,

I also recently got a new PSU because my PSU bummed out, I'm not sure of what it is, but here are all the details on it,

model A-600 Bliss Power Supply output 600w Max.....Thats all I know, so if I get all these parts, put them into my case and use my old HDD and PSU, will it work out alright?

Apparently the above poster is happy to see you.

You're not even going to put an Nvidia or AMD GPU in it yet you're calling it a beast? How many FPS will you get out of that onboard GPU in whatever benchmark test?

Well considering the OP has trouble deciding between the 300 or 70 mobo it should be a real beast of a rig

Unless you're aiming for a 5.0GHz overclock, a 2700K is a waste of money. A 2500k is a smarter choice.

What is the model of the drive? (the alpha-numeric code, not the manufacturer) Chances are the current drives have significantly better speed/latency that you will notice.

1) for f**** sake get a decent psu
2) 2500k as para said
3) SSD buy one treat it like it will die at any minute - then use a couple of large mech drives for bulk storage
4) less wank and buy decent hardware - less led's less wanky ramsinks less less f*****g less.
5) semi decent mainboards don't have to cost the earth but an el cheapo pc chips special is going to give you the red arse. Its going to use s*** components and worse drivers
6) Read up on each of the parts - read some reviews then check if the site reviewing also advertises said parts (hint)
7) GPU think about how much heat it will generate, how much power it will use, then start thinking about what FPS it might get
8) People concentrate on building a faster a system but not a solid one. I would rather have something that 85% as fast but works 100% of the time

I was thinking of doing the same kind of thing (but total rebuild, so i can give this comp to my parents)

Intel Core i5 2500K Processor LGA1155 3.3GHz CPU
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO w Transparent 12cm
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 MB, LGA1155 Intel Z68
Corsair Vengeance CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9G 16GB (4x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 CL9 Vengeance Performance with XMP 1
Seagate SATA3 1TB 7200RPM 64mb Cache
EVGA GTX680 2GB
Asus Xonar DG PCI Gaming 5.1 Channel Dolby soundcard Built-in Headphone AMP,GX
Antec Three Hundred TWO
Antec 620W High Current Gamer Power Supply, 80+ Bronze
Intel 520S 240GB/SATA3/R 550MBs,W 520MBs/25nm/3.5"Kit/5yr Retail
Silverstone EC01 2 Port PCIe USB 3.0 Card

it's pretty much the second best/most expensive whirlpool one with one change in hdd.

I also have that exact CPU, cooler and motherboard ... however I went the G.Skill F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL 16GB kit ($109 at umart) as it was on the motherboard's compatibility list. Been running flawless and super-stable with the CPU crunching numbers at a 4.5GHz OC.

Given that the Corsair kit is not on the mobo's tested list and also given the poor Corsair RAM failure stats that we saw in another thread recently, the G.Skill may be safer bet.

Only downside is the bloody 'jaws' on the G.Skill stick are very close to the CPU fan, so you might have to mount the fan on the other side to suck. Then again, the Corsair kit you quoted would interfere even more as it's even taller!

1: Get a i5 2500k
2: Asus have some really really good motherboards out there, The one you have picked isn't bad
3: Ram isn't to bad, I'd recommend going with Corsair or G.Skill though
4: I've built about 8 computers using the Thermaltake Soprano and its a flaming pile of S*** , airflow in it is crap, the back fan has a high failure rate (7 of the 8 rear case fans have died) , It has front grates to allow airflow...but a big massive door to stop it... (yay for smart thinking) ...This case should have been canned years ago...

Now for your big problems, your building a PC from scratch, you have no clue what hardware you are going to continue to use from your old PC (you don't know what PSU your using? for real?) and the biggest failure out of this list....you have no listed 1 very very very "beastly" important thing....a Graphic card......

You also haven't listed if what version of Windows you will be running? Lets assume your going to run windows 7 since if you run windows xp then you have proven that you have no clue in what your doing with this "beast".

After all this, Do us a favor and have a Licensed and Trained Computer Technician right you up a list based on your budget and have him build it for you.

If you like, Let me know and I'll put together a list of hardware for you to order for yourself and its up to you where you go from there.

I don't mean to be rude or anything but...when you claim a computer as a "beast", you better know what your doing.

"Industry" people say go Asus... but my experience has been every PC I have ever built including my current one, that has had an Asus Mobo has been a piece of steaming s***.

My Gigabit, Aopen and Foxconn based system have been far less likely to have issues.

My current system with a piece of s*** $350 Asus Sandyvadge piece of s*** will randomly reboot for no good reason.

Obes, have you tryed updating your motherboard drivers? my old asus motherboard had the same issue, firmware update on the motherboard fixed it on the spot, before doing so i found out that the motherboard only supported the ram i had with this firmware update and it was the ram+motherboard crashing the PC.

Tough crowd.

I have to agree though, without a GPU you can really only claim a "semi-beast" at best, and by the looks of your shoddy homework, I am inclined to think you need to start again.

Move along folks, nothing to see here. The "beast" was in fact just Old Mr Roberts dressed as a mummy trying to scare kids away from the abandoned amusement park where he manufactured low grade methamphetamine.

lol, dips****, really. I know f*** all about technical PC stuff but know to post CPU, mobo, GPU, sound card, RAM and power supply @ bare minimum. Some of the guys on here live and breathe PC and know their s***. Although this thread is full of insults, thats ausgamers and you brought it upon yourself by f*****g up your post and asking for help as a noob. We get f***loads of 1post people asking 'what do you think of my machine' and i can understand people getting pissed when you ask for free advice.

They've offered some advice. Take it or go and ask some dude in a shop the same questions. He will think the same stuff as these guys but just wont say it to your face.

Its the internet dude, what did you expect? Butterflies and rainbows?

Markus, just get this build

Intel i5 2500k

ASRock Z68 Extreme4-Gen3 Z68 4xDDR3 3*PCIex16 GBL RAID DVI HDMI DS

G Skill 8G(2x4G) DDR3 1600Mhz PC12800 RL 9-9-9-24(CL9D-8GBRL)

CoolerMaster 700W Extreme Plus though you could go higher if you want

Gigabyte GF GTX 570 OC

Cooler Master V8 HeatPipe Universal Cooler

Get whatever case you want. Ta da. That's $952 without a case, though I may be forgetting something else. Will run BF3 perfectly, and whatever else you want to do. I didn't add HDD because you said you already had one, but if you don't, add this:

Seagate SATA3 2TB 7200RPM Barracuda 64mb Cache @ $139
