Hi folks,

I'm considering getting some entry-level wireless speakers for parties etc, that I can move about and control from my PC or laptop.

PC doesn't have a wifi card, but I believe some speakers come with transmitters.
Laptop can do Bluetooth if that's an option.

Any recommendations, info I should consider other than the obviously, or 'DO NOT BUY THESE THEY ARE TERRIBLE' type suggestions.

Any info appreciated :)

I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure you'll still have to plug something in to the laptop which will then broadcast over wireless to speakers, if you want something with a bit of bang anyway.

There are a few smaller wireless speakers that only require a USB dongle to run but I can't imagine they would be able to pump music for a party.

You could grab one of the phillips wireless home theatre systems, just leave the player plugged into your pc and move your speakers around, I think they're around $500~ mark.

just buy any speakers with either toslink or 3.5mm inputs, an Apple Airport express, plus the speakers into the airport and configure the airport to connect to your existing wireless network
then bam, from any itunes device in your house you can send music to those speakers (including iPhones, iPod touch etc)

it'll run you about $120 for the airport and whatever you want to spend on the speakers

Just to be explicit; it is not possible to have wireless speakers that can be moved anywhere because you still need to plug them into the power.

Unless you're thinking of some low power battery ones, in which case they'd probably be inferior speakers.

Grabbed the Logitech Boombox.
Re-chargeable, wireless (bluetooth, so no connectins), yay?

Gets some decent volume out, and handed it WAY better than the $100~ docking stations that were everywhere.

Teq's on the money for once.

Sonos gear is great, we have it at work and its awesome gear, it will cost you though.

$500 starting price, and the wireless controller is over $500. Not sure why they would charge that much, when you could buy an ipad or ipod touch and use the free sonos control software.
