Rather than responding to a bunch of old posts, I thought I'd answer any questions or respond to any criticism posted here. Feel free to yell, ask questions or give feedback.

1. procon asap please.
2. please make MY 64 servers run like FPSG 24x7 locker (its butter smooth all the time) 3. you guys are doing awesome. servers have tremendous uptime just 48+ lag for me. Hopefully you've made progress 4. come play with us! |
1: Working on it today (but no ETA sorry).
2: I'll see what the differences are between the servers and see if there is anything we can do. 3: Slow progress on performance issues, but we hope to get some movement over the next week or two. 4: Playing BF4 feels like work for me at the moment, every time I feel some lag or someone complains it hurts my soul. |
Don't tell them my secrets ;(
As for me... 1: Get dragon pass fixed, tell DICE to hurry it up so we can add it back to the rotation (causes 100% CPU usage) 2: Add the round start timer and a few of the other settings people use to the "Detailed Game Experience Setting" section of the CP 3: Answer support tickets, even if it is blowing smoke up the persons arse, heck even a standard auto responder like "It's a known problem and DICE is addressing it, there's nothing we can do" would pretty much bring you in-line with other GSPs... (who cares what the truth is right) 4: Bring online a new service (dedicated servers), same as other GSPs offer, a xeon 1230/70 with X amount of slots (generally 240 and you pay for more) 4: Keep doing what you're doing.... |
Don't tell them my secrets ;( I don't believe in lying - honesty is always the best policy, in business and in private. When you lie you will eventually get caught out and your reputation is damaged irreparably. Those people believe that lying to customers is the correct approach, will only bring that business to the attention of the regulators and authorities. Advice like this is foolhardy and shows the poster has never been in business or run a company. |
LOUD NOISES.......
Threats tend not to work when you're attempting to communicate with someone, if that's your approach perhaps alter it and you might get further. Although I've been extremely frustrated with the service at times, I don't believe I've taken it out on Brendan, or made his job any harder than it already is. Putting aside your failed attempt at a personal insult, lets move onto game servers?, which there's no doubting we've run a successful clan and servers. Last I checked.... - We have 450+ registered users on our forum with people actively communicating within the forum sections on a daily basis. - All of our 272 slots are generally full, why is that? - Even with outages and one lot was 6x months worth of constant downtime, our forums still keep ticking over - Our clan member retention rate would be up over 95% if not higher - We reject probably 10+ people a day applying to the clan - Our success has also been in arma/dayz so not totally unique to battlefield So yes Toolie, advice from me probably isn't worth much at all, but I guess that depends on how you look at things. |
Don't tell them my secrets ;( No secret revealing, but if I can learn something that can be shared... ;) 1: I'll pass that on again to DICE. 2: Will do. 3: This is an issue for me, as someone rightly pointed out in another thread. I absolutely hate not knowing something, so I get consumed with finding a solution or answer and forget to keep customers up to date. It is probably the #1 thing for us to work on right now. 4: 5: Love you. |
I don't believe I've taken it out on Brendan, or made his job any harder than it already is. Taken it out on me? No. Made my job harder? Absolutely. However: that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Often the easy thing isn't the right thing, so pushing for better service, better options etc does make my job harder, but that is a good thing. |
You 2 should get a room... just saying ;) |
Still cant run the 64 slot server that i pay for with 64 players. U still charge me for it though....
|
Fix the lag and rubber banding when all slots are full in prime time please....
Also yes, FPSG lockers 24/7 never seems to blaze disconnect or crash. My China rising server never used to, but suddenly since just before xmas, it blaze disconnects 2-4 times a day, every day, like clockwork. Our Siege/Storm 24/7 has started doing it as well.... Our other 52 slot doesn't do it.....nor does our 104 slots on Hypernia, Whats different?? The plugins @ our end are the same pretty much for each server.... But I can guarantee that within 2 hrs of starting my china rising server, it will Blaze disconnect every time.... Making having it pointless.... (Will probably cancel it at end of month, was in top 100 WW, but the blaze disconnect frequency is killing it...and the lack of any response from AG as well) Already blazed 2 times this morning.....both China rising and Siege.... like clock work....every day... http://cache.www.gametracker.com/images/graphs/server_rank.php?GSID=3672337 Killed by blaze disconnects....not from lack of use.... |
Snot: I'll tell you a tale of two servers. Lets call them "Snot" and "Syd". Both are hosted on our GA0111 host (203.46.105.21).
Both servers are on the same physical hardware. Both have identical software, installed automatically from the same image. Because they are on the same hardware, they have identical network access for both clients and back end servers. There is no way we can distinguish them at our level, the only differences are the configuration by the customers, the rcon access by the customers, and the players who play on them. I just ran my bespoke BF4 log parsing program over GA0111, with a cutoff of "nothing more than 168 hours ago", and here are the results: "Player Minutes" is a simple calculation: you get one player minute for every minute there is a player on the server. 64 players online for an hour? You earn 3840 player minutes. Syd has 30% more player minutes than Snot. Both have a very high overall player minutes rating. "Sleep time" is how often the CPU core that is allocated to the server is idle. This gives a general idea of how hard the host is working to keep the server running. Both Snot and Syd have similar sleep times once you adjust for the different player minutes (Syd's sleep time is about 15% lower than Snot's). Neither server reported any sort of severe lag during the period, and both reported similar amounts of minor lag (the sort that players don't normally notice). ----- My log parser (wrote it myself, quite proud of it) looks for two different types of network problems, which I creatively name "dumps" and "drops". By definition: Drop: the back end blaze connection drops. This results in all of the players being kicked from the server as the server goes offline until it reconnects to Blaze. It'll retry constantly, there is no need to restart the server or anything. Dump: the server loses more than 10 players but not all of the players with no other explanation: that is, the server doesn't disconnect from Blaze, doesn't crash, wasn't rebooted, but drops 10+ players. Sometimes when i check these out I find a map change at 2am when a bunch of people just decided to go to bed, but more often than not they are otherwise unexplained. --- In the last 168 hours, Syd and Snot were pretty much even. Syd was the big brother, but Snot played along with its slightly lower player count, slightly better performance and otherwise identical behaviour, except: Syd had 3 dumps: 4/01/2014 9:49:35 AM - dumped 48 players. 6/01/2014 3:12:43 AM - dumped 24 players. 9/01/2014 2:45:48 AM - dumped 21 players. Snot had 40 dumps: Really too many to list, dumping between 12 and 60 players. ---- This is the problem that I'm working on at the moment. These two servers are on the same hardware and software, otherwise perform identically, but Syd is 20x more stable than Snot. |
Excellent, well at least you acknowledge there is a problem with the server somewhere....
The odd blaze disconnect I expect and can live with as per your tale of 2 servers (EA after all), but the frequency of them is unusual, and seems to be server specific. Thanks for the update it is much appreciated from our end. |
Hey,
Our server (SYDNEY 24/7) had been running great @ 64 players up until the 16th of Dec. Since then we have had the Rubberbanding/Lag on all maps when full (64 players). Yes, Dragon Pass and Paracel Storm would be the maps that would suffer the most. We have since removed those maps and dropped the player count to 56. The result is no more Rubberbanding/Lag on the remaining maps, yet we cannot run Dragon Pass and Paracel @ 56 players without the Rubberbanding/Lag returning. Nothing was changed on our end since the 16th. Was something changed on your end? Cheers. |
Our instance does crash thanks ;) it's crashed 6-7 times which have actually generated the crash log/time in the CP which is unusual, we generally just drop all the players out and there's nothing in the CP to say it's crashed.
So it does happen to our instance, oddly enough a lot since yesterday, however we just keep on seeding it. EDIT - To clarify that's 6-7+ times on the one instance in the past 24 hours. |
Will AG be doing DayZ standalone servers?? Only place we could find that rents one was GameServers, which we were loathe to use :(
|
Must have jinxed myself by posting here eh, pretty much all of our instances going offline multiple times a day now....
Lot of them with no crash report and simply dropping out all the players, oddly enough the rcon port as well so I am guessing it's the script kiddies back at it again. |
Getting over this TBF..... All servers blazing repeatedly, pretty much un-useable currently.....
Spend many hours seeding them and starting them (75+ clan members makes this easy), and to not even be able to finish a round and have them blaze constantly.... Was just our china rising to start with, now its all of them.... Cant even get 2 hours up time out of them..... I have 75+ people moaning at me about the s*** servers crashing constantly.... I have some big decisions to make in the next week. Its been pretty much 3 weeks now and no resolution or any closer to getting an answer, pretty much a months worth of server subscriptions down the drain... |
Must have jinxed myself by posting here eh, pretty much all of our instances going offline multiple times a day now.... your not the only one last couple days our server started dropping every1 now all of sudden |
As of right now I can't access the CP either, which is pretty s***** wok considering I am now getting about an hours uptime ;) now it's just come back up.
Over our 5x instances there's probably been 5+ instances of full servers dropping out this morning. |
Is it an acknowledged issue that your servers can't handle 64p at the moment? my server is completely fine with 40-50 people, as soon as it fills up to 64 the rubberbanding starts and its unplayable. The response I get from the contact form is "can't see anything specific"... its clearly not good enough if we are paying for a 64 slot server it should work.
|

I'm seeing failure reports for all of those crashes in GameCreate. As we discussed, I'm watching the crash reports/logs for this server, but I can't see anything directly suspicious. We'll see how it goes tomorrow... |
Hey, Heh, did you hear your name being mentioned (Yes, "Syd" in my above example is your server). We haven't done anything specific on that date, but I'll revisit the logs and see if I can find something that could cause performance problems. I have a sneaking suspicion that GA0111 might have a few too many processes on it that are affecting it even if it isn't logging peformance problems. If that is the case we'll move the most recently deployed ones to other hardware. |
Will AG be doing DayZ standalone servers?? Only place we could find that rents one was GameServers, which we were loathe to use :( Talked to them about it, I'll chase them up. We wouldn't agree to their initial requirements, but with the reports I'm seeing of problems with their other providers they might be willing to talk to us :) |

The response I get from the contact form is "can't see anything specific"... its clearly not good enough if we are paying for a 64 slot server it should work. No, if we provide 64 player servers we expect them to run 64 players. We'll continue to try to eliminate performance problems, but we are up against two specific issues right now: 1: The most recent BF4 dedicated server software release has some CPU usage issues: no matter how much CPU you throw at it it will use 100% and lag. That isn't something we can fix. This is in addition to map specific performance problems we've seen since day 1. 2: Servers are reporting no performance problems in their logs (as in, actively report that they are running fine) while players complain of performance problems. We can't sit on every server all the time and try to "feel" problems, we have to work with what servers report. We are working with DICE on this - if the servers are lying to us it puts us in a very difficult position. We've spent a lot of time developing tools to pinpoint server problems from the log files. |
Getting over this TBF..... All servers blazing repeatedly, pretty much un-useable currently..... I spent some time looking at your server configuration vs others that report as being very stable, and one thing struck me: your server is running 150% tickets, where others are running 100%. There were known issues in BF3 (for almost a year) that servers with higher than 100% ticket counts were far more likely to disconnect from the back end when reporting statistics. This caused a double hit, as higher ticket counts lead to longer rounds, so players were more annoyed than if they lost a short round. You could try returning your servers to 100% ticket count for a while and see if that makes a difference. When I have some free time I'll update my log parser to look for this specifically. |
I have tried 100% tickets, 150% tickets, it makes no difference. Have tried Custom Preset, Normal Preset, Official Preset, nothing makes a difference. I have disabled all plugins, no difference, tried everything I can do at my end, nothing...... I have today put another server up to duplicate my Siege 24/7 with another GSP, copied and pasted my config over (so running the same settings exactly...), has been full since, no lag, no rubber banding, and no blaze disconnects....... Just happy players playing a game, and on 150% tickets, and not a single disconnect..... early days yes, but the same server on Ausgamers has blazed 5-6 times today..... as it did yesterday....and the day before etc etc etc I will be cancelling my China rising, and my Siege server sorry AusGamers, it really has been too little to late. I will leave my Vanilla server up for now, as it doesn't seem to be affected as badly, but yeah.... If it starts s***ting itself, that will go west as well. My suggestions for future, as mentioned previously by others already, and for what they may be worth to you chaps. A support ticket system, even if it just has a standard answer or reply. Instead of 2-3 weeks of nothing, anything is always better than nothing. Yes people moan when things don't work, but they are moaning because they have paid for something that does not work, and want it fixed. Hearing nothing is not a good look. The responses and replies are very very limited sadly from AusGamers. I was forced into a position of testing things myself, and pretty much its cost AusGamers a couple of servers sadly. I think expecting a fix within 3 weeks is a reasonable time frame. 3 weeksand things have gotten worse sadly, not better. No GSP is perfect, I have tried Gameservers, Hypernia, AusGamers, Multiplay you name it. I try to support local where possible, even if I am a Kiwi, Aussie is near enough to home. But I can't put up with 75+ people moaning at me daily over broken servers and service, and not getting ANY answers.....at all, from my provider, in a timely manner. cheers, Snotty |
Hey, Yes i did :) I am running the server @64 players atm to test for the lag. Still running 100% cpu with lag..but not as bad.(no Dragon or Paracel) |
You're on i3Ds own IP range in AU which has very little capacity and no DDoS protection at all, so I am curious to know how that pans out for you ;) Larger instances are placed on xeon 1230s with a local provider that has blacklotus filtering (USA) and nsfocus devices locally, both of which made little difference to us and we were still DDoSed to s***. However you don't even have that. We were told they never had a customer that was DDoSed as much as us, so I hope things are different for you and it works out. Least I got the routing fixed for you so NZ based traffic no longer goes via the USA back to AU.... good luck |
Malthius thanks for replying, i understand what you are saying but there has to be an issue on your end its not a BF4 issue. I can join other 64p servers playing the same map as my server that are not hosted with ausgamers and they are completely lag free where as my own server as soon as it goes above 50 or so players it lags to the point its not playable... as soon as the player count drops back to around 50 its good again. I just can't see how it isn't an issue on your end? I can see many of the posts on this forum are people with the exact same problem. Please continue to look into this or I am also going to have to be another one of the people that goes elsewhere simply because its not worth paying for 64 slots if the servers can't handle it. |
example of the chat logs from my server currently full.

Seriously needs to be fixed, soon as it drops to 50 players works fine. It's currently paracel storm 24/7 but I have tried other maps and they have the same problem when it fills up it's just not playable. It really is an issue on ausgamers end... |
Hi Rycin,
We are looking into why your server is reporting higher than normal lag spikes and server performance issues. Currently we are aware of a handful of maps that will deteriorate server performance, Paracel Storm being one of them, and are working with DICE on seeing how we can navigate around this issue. Obviously we don't want to tell customers that they are only limited to certain map cycles/player numbers, and as Malthius has pointed out we are continually working on performance issues reported from users. It is always sad to see customers leave us, we wish that would never happen. However, we don't want to keep players paying for servers that they feel are not worth their hard earned money, and understand that this option is obviously a last resort. Hopefully we can get it sorted before that decision is made. We have also taken into consideration the comments about our current support system, and are looking into different avenues which we hope to have working sooner rather than later. Our current system was never meant to be used for this long, and we definitely understand the headaches it can cause. |
Hi,
Any reason why my servers are being stopped and started, there's nothing in the "failure reports" section nor is it mentioned on the "last failed" date, however I am getting the following on a fair few of my instances. Latest Log Entries Active [FPSG] Big Trouble In Little China (Bigpond Unmete has been started and is now active. 1/15/2014 12:30:08 PM Start GameCreate attempted to start [FPSG] Big Trouble In Little China (Bigpond Unmete. 1/15/2014 12:27:51 PM Stop GameCreate stopped [FPSG] Big Trouble In Little China (Bigpond Unmete. 1/15/2014 12:26:55 PM Rather painful considering the other outages that are occurring on my instances atm ;( |
Server patch (Release 19), had a few fixes, required a reboot.
|
Ticket will be actioned tomorrow morning. Nothing about that particular map right now as far as I remember. Notifications for patches is something we want to do, but don't have a system for just yet.
|
Until PayPal is done I don't really want to add anything to the wishlist :)
|
We have ProCon working on our internal testing servers, and will hopefully be rolling it out in the nearest of futures.

Hey,
Over the past few days our server will not accept more then 58 players. Everything in config is set to 64. After a restart it seems to accept 64 then a short amount of time later will decrease to 58. All players trying to join will receive "Game disconnected, could not join server" msg. Had the same problem in the past and was related to the server queue/timeout issue. Edit: Now decreased to 56. Cheers. |
Hey,
Is everybody or anybody getting the constant Blaze disconnects and the odd Query failures for the last few days? Cheers. |
There seems to be a number of blaze disconnects happening across all servers, something we are looking into though we have no specifics yet. This could possibly be a problem on DICE's end but we are checking everything to make sure.
|

This could possibly be a problem on DICE's end but we are checking everything to make sure. Hey, We are disconnecting a few times a day atm.Only staying connected a couple hours at most. Could you have a look to see if our server is affected more then others. 203.46.105.21.21500. Cheers. |
Since I am sure my support ticket is being looked into thoroughly hence the time it's taking to respond ;) I thought I might replicate a post of a user complaint on here, we receive a lot of these each day, including from our clan members that can't join our own instances....
"hi guys just wanted to ask if u were having server problems. i only ask coz i havent been able to connect to ur servers for the last couple of day. i normmaly try to connect to both ur 24/7 opp locker and big trouble in little china 4-5 times each b4 giving up and moving on to other servers but before u think i am just imppatient i would like to say that i have had a run of aprox 12 times in a row where i could not access your servers and got the error message "could not join server". is this a EA/DICE connectivity issue or is it my conection to ur servers? would like to hear back from u guys soon coz i really enjoy playing on ur servers thanks in advance" |
Phenom600 do you use reserved slots or a similar procon add on?
I have tried joining your servers and find that I can only join when there are more than 2 slots available any other time I get the same message as above. If so maybe turn reserved slots off and give that a try for a few days? |
Having reserved slots will cause that message to appear if the server is near capacity. I'd suggest to experiment by turning reserved slots off and seeing if users can then join without the error message. I'll check out the logs either way and see what the go is.
|
We run reserved slots, our server generally has people in the queue, the reserved slots are for people that pay us money each month that covers the costs of the servers.
Granted my instances lately spend more time offline than they are online I don't think disabling that and killing off all our VIP subs like in bf3 (that happened twice) is a good idea. |
Very true Phenom, and I don't expect anyone to disable mechanics that help keep them paying for servers. So far I haven't found anything that jumps out at me as to why it isn't letting players connect, though there were a number of disconnects during the weekend from the Blaze backend.
|
https://twitter.com/gustavhalling/status/426311050 The "could not join server" bug is going to be fixed, at least they are aware of it. |
Hey, We are still disconnecting a few times a day. Any luck with identifying the problem? Edit: Seems nobody can join now after multiple restarts. Cheers. |
Is anyone else having the constant Blaze disconnects?
Also, nobody being able to join even after restarts? Cheers. |
Going on 2 weeks now. |
Was on leave last week, Eorl covered the desk for me.
Ran the stats on your server Dremark, I emailed you directly, but what I noticed was a dramatic increase in disconnects after we deployed R18 on the 13th of January. I'll see if any other providers are (willing to admit to) having the same increase after R18. Regarding the player join issue, DICE have confirmed it is a priority for them. |
Hey,
Yes,the disconnects seem to have increased since R18 but our server is having more specific issues then others. I have replied with more detail in email. Cheers. |
servers f***ed.
join, crash, boom. Now they all disappeared. NICE DICE patch - best yet. |
servers f***ed. All servers have gone, they'll be back when all have been updated (I hope lol). |
R21 was deployed last night, R22 is in progress, so expect another reboot some time today.
|
R21 was deployed last night, R22 is in progress, so expect another reboot some time today. Another one! What is EA/DICE doing? Please tell me this fixes the netcode/hit trading issue *sarcastic smirk* But seriously, can you give us any info on what R22 fixes (breaks elsewhere) please? |
Any update on my server Malthius?
Reply by email. Cheers. |
Credit where credit is due....R22 seems to be very stable - haven't had a server crash/blaze disconnect yet.
This could be a turning point.... |
Credit where credit is due....R22 seems to be very stable - haven't had a server crash/blaze disconnect yet. Want to swap servers? :( |
Malthius or Eorl,
Our server is still suffering from the disconnects and the hours it takes for anyone to be able to join afterwards.(explained in support emails ) Can you reinstall the server or move it to another box..anything? Its been going on 3 weeks now. Patience is all but gone. |
I think i spoke to soon - ours keep disconnecting like something crazy in the last few days....
Its just ridiculous. |
My bet is around april may dice will have finally made the game stable enough to market it as playable and rental worthy. Untill then its a waste of time and money
|
Screw BF4 - get RUST!!
Actually TitanFall is out soon... |
Malthius or Eorl, Can someone reply to the support ticket or here...anyone? |
I think i spoke to soon - ours keep disconnecting like something crazy in the last few days.... Replied to your ticket, but I've referred your server to DICE as an example of what is happening - no network problems, no DDOS, no hardware problems, but your server dumped 57 of the 61 players online. I've got suspicions about what is happening, but I'll hopefully get a reply tonight. |
Malthius,
Why am i getting ignored? |
Dremark: I thought I'd replied directly on your ticket, but I'll check through again in a minute.
