FAAAAAAARRRRRKKKK
That is so goddamn sweet Imagine playing a game like that in single player with all the f*****g lights off, headphones on with the volume cranked...... F*** me, it'll be the best s****care since Unreal Single Player FARK THAT OWNS!!!!!!!!! |
Woah
Thats...thats...woah Wow |
Im buying one of these f*****s the second it hits the beach!
|
Bugger the footage - no one picked up Trog's awesome usage of an "Office Space" quote!!
|
Boy 'o boy, cant believe that was all real time rendering - pretty awesome!!
Heh, John Carmack speaks funny..mm..mm |
K, just finished looking at the movie (courtesy of Rukh's site)
That's a damn cute looking engine...but I couldn't help feeling that the game is probably a very long long way off from release...since they'll need to wait for Hardware to catch up for one thing... I actually found the demo of Luxo Jr. to be more jaw dropping...GF3 looks mighty sweet. |
The luxo jr thing wasn't bad, but the shadows and the lighting in the id demo impressed me more. Especially the shadows near the end of the demo with the moving light sources, light shining through slats/fans/etc onto creatures. That was just awesome.
|
blah - you're a skeptic ;p
The raw power of the GF3 should easially be able to handle the poly count, the free antialiasing helps, and the programmable nfiniteFX Pixel Shader(tm) should handle all of the neat per-pixel shadow stuff. The real question is - what's it going to look like on cards other than the GF3? And how are MS going to handle programmable GPUs through DX? I like this quote from Broussard:
|
Thats not just a quote, thats his entire plan, which is already linked to in another news post by trog.
Not to take anything away from your post or nothing :) |
While most of us drool, i bet most of us will have to play the game with every setting 'off' just tog et a decent frame rate...same as Q3A.
If you watch Q3A being played in high-res in 32 bit with everything 'on', its looks unbelievable, but alas, you goto a LAN (ala QGL) and check out what people are running. Vertex, blurry pic_maps and simple items. Some prefer it because they can see things more clearly, others for the big frame boost to keep the game smooth. So unless we all go and buy GF3's for however many thousands of dollars it will be, will Doom3 end up being 'Doom3 looking like GL Doom2'? |

GF3 -> US$600
thats about $1.1k here (probably more) plus its going to be for macs first and steve jobs is gay |
The Geforce3 is due out in the next month or two. The 'New Doom', on the other hand, isn't likely to see the light of day until at least 2002, I would assume. By then, the Geforce3 will be extremely cheap - going on Nvidia's usual performance, the 'GF3 Ultra' will be released towards the end of this year, and who knows what after that.
In other words, GF3 will be affordable for the average user by the release of the new Doom (hell, it could quite possibly be the low-end card on the market). As to the 'turning everything off', the new doom is supposed to be predominantly single-player. The reason people turn everything off in Q3 is cos we want the maximum frames possible. That isn't as important in single-player, where you can more fully appreciate the eye candy :) |
The thing I want to know is this:
How f*****g much? |
True Nats, but sif an id game aint gonna own in multiplayer :P
|
"If steve jobs were truly gay in every sense of YOUR word.... you wouldn't even have a GF3 so quit yer b****ing"
another stupid comment wher do u find them all ;) |
if it wasn't for steve jobs we'd have the gf3 on pc before mac
|
Yep, I'll definitely have the thing cranked for singleplayer.
I dont mind if it drops under 30 when im playing sp. but its inevitable that pro-f****s are gonna be running it like poo so they can see people easier in deathmatchs. /me gives neff a steve job |
i reckon it'd be awesome if id just forgot about the deathmatch and made it an uber coop game
|

|

Kiwibox is some gumby site, but it has a java instant messenging client that keeps your contact list and you can use ICQ, MSN and AOL through it. If you actually make an account, use a referral from "AcidReign" that way I'll get more kiwipoints! :P but its rad if you only have web access at uni or work and you want to use ICQ. It only uses port 80 and doesnt have to isntall any software so its all good. |
yeah and you can read up on all the latest kiwi gossop as well
