And given the downhill slate of games that have failed to capture the magic of at least the first four entries over the years, you'd be forgiven for thinking "meh". But, this time around it's being handled by Vicarious Visions who miraculously created a faithful version of the early series on Game Boy Advance and is a stalwart studio.
Moreover, much of the original soundtrack is included, with the addition of features from other entries baked into the 1 and 2 levels and world design, including revert, lip tricks and wall plant among many others. Old-school pros also return in glorious 4K, including Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, Steve Caballero, Geoff Rowley, Andrew Reynolds, Elissa Steamer, Chad Muska, Eric Koston, Rodney Mullen (yay!), Rune Glifberg, Kareem Campbell, Jamie Thomas and Bob Burnquist (yay!).
New challenges and goals have also been added, alongside a massive facelift befitting the current 4K visual staple. But enough salivating from me, watch the announce trailer embedded below, and check out some screens following that. The game is set to release this September 4. We'll also have more on this very soon, so stay tuned.
What I like is that they're focused on 1 and 2 from a level design perspective, but are bringing across some of the best features and gameplay features from the later games for larger combos and stringing together vert, transition and street in single lines
the best news is that they've managed to get most of the original music.
