cooked my laptop last night transcoding this to watch on the tv

I wasn't aware of this but after reading about it sounds like it's worth a look.

Baby Yoda. In order of appearance: Yoda Yaddle Yiddle I don't see how this can be argued against. Also: https://i.imgur.com/LZEEttj.png |
I was skeptical about this show, because of what Disney has done with Star Wars but, It's not terrible. It's Disney's best attempt so far with Star Wars IMO.
|
it's enjoyable, but i wish he would take the helmet off. (maybe he does...)
|
i honestly prefer the prequels of the sequels so far.
anyway, the mandalorian has been great so far. |
Even knowing about how poorly old George handled the prequels, Disneys movies have not exceeded it, Even with the s*** tons of money that the IP brings in and the money Disney has, that is the best they could do. Disney has a good record of doing their own stuff but seem to just have no idea what they want to or no idea what fans want. I can't speak for everyone though. It's difficult because we all know Star Wars, even though the bar has been set low, it can and will be judged. By me, if no one else. Since they have disregarded the Expanded Universe, it does free them free to make changes, changes which are stupid. But on the flip side, there is a ton of s*** they don't have to go about creating themselves, just sitting there, waiting to be used. Less about what’s going on with the ‘main’ film franchise, and more specifically about The Mandalorian...
I like it, it’s a ‘space western’ (every time I hear that bassline I can literally see a horse galloping). I find it sitting in a weird format though... it’s dialogue light (again, western-esque) and as such quite cinematic as it’s almost using imagery alone to tell the story. (I did find myself chuckling at the closeups on his helmet in the first few eps). The Episode run-times in conjunction with this make for a pretty clunky story telling experience, but piece by piece, episode by episode, it’s falling into place. I’ve found myself comparing aspects of the set design to Firefly in the first few eps too (something about the transitioning shots of ‘Mando’ walking around the city it starts in). I found it interesting socially, that they had Werner Herzog to play the ‘big bad’ early on (given the fascist underpinnings of the Imperial Forces) his odd Euro-Germanic accent ‘just worked’ in that role. I really want to love it, but don’t (and that’s okay) it is seriously the best thing to come out of Lucasfilm in some time. What I do find kinda odd about it, is that Disney is clearly appealing to ‘all age groups’, despite the subject matter probably being better tailored elsewhere. It’s as though this would make a great ‘pre-feature series’. Also, Just now it occurs to me that I’ve never seen the Star Wars Christmas Specials... as crappy as The Last Jedi was, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t as bad as those... |
Also this........ https://boundingintocomics.com/2019/11/21/kathleen Crazy right, its almost like there was thousands of pages of clamouring material that suddenly fell silent after the Mouse showed up. |
I am worried about Baby Yoda because if everything went okay with him/her why is he/she not in the new movies????
|
It’s a big universe @fpot, surely every plot doesn’t have to involve a Skywalker...
Also, this lil one has a while to go before they’ll reach 900 years old |
I don't rate this much. Short episodes, which I can live with. But it otherwise feels super bland and a bit boring. I've only watched 2 episodes so far so I'll give it a shot for at least 2 more episodes before I ditch it. There's much better TV out there than this though...
|
Yeah but that doesn't mean someone doesn't kill it. I guess it could make an appearance in the third movie which would be a nice touch.
|
Your opinion is invalid because I disagree with you. That's the spirit.
I take the similarities are a bit vague to firefly? Space western sounds like a genre that should get more air time. |
Anyone keeping up with the show?
I found this weeks episode possibly the weakest from a plot development point to date :/ |
Was there any plot development? It was basically just a side quest.
|
f*** I love the latest episode. These are fillers these are all character developments.
Episode 5 pays homage to A New Hope in a big way. Tattooine, space port, cantina, dune sea. Love to see all that 5 years after ROTJ. Well done to the two lads making this show. Clearly they're fans of the originals. This show is the highest watch show of 2019. Disney have finally nailed it. |
Ive not seen ep 5 as of yet but I will today or tomorrow while I frown at the current weather.
They could probably show 24min worth of shots of baby Yoda doing adorable things and it would probably just as good really. I kinda want a Yoda plushie, too bad Disney dropped the ball on the Merch. George would have had baby Yoda on tampon boxes by now. |
They tried to cram in every single refernce to Episode 4 they could in that episode.
I also doubt Tuskan Raiders would just be chilling out, waiting for people to barter passage across their territory. |
If you like Sims 4, good news, you can get a baby Yoda statue. It would be better if it was living entity you could have in your house but it's better than nothing I guess.

so cute when the child looked at his hand thinking he had exploded the droid.
|
there’s a notice on the counter at the checkout at ebworld that says the vinyl pop baby yoda is coming in April
did you notice that the voice of the droid zero is one of the guys from The IT Crowd |
what's The Last Jedi like? any good?
|
I saw it yesterday and loved it. I thought it was well written and provided a lot of nostalgia.
|
the finale was f*****g great. can't believe we're getting live action darksaber.
