And that shouldn't be considered a dig at the franchise, but an observation about woman's sport finally being fully represented across multiple brands, because really, it's just been a massive oversight for too long.
All 12 teams from the WNBA will feature in the game with full license with a number of players going through the mo-cap process to ensure the woman's game is represented properly.
“Growing up, I always remembered watching male athletes on TV and playing as them in video games. Now, to have the WNBA be in the position we are and to have women featured prominently in NBA 2K20, we are allowing young girls and boys to have female athletes as role models,” said Candace Parker, Los Angeles Sparks forward via press release. “The 2K team has done an amazing job of making sure to not just put women into the game playing men’s basketball, but I’ve seen first-hand the hard work they’re doing to make this as real and authentic as possible to women’s basketball. I’m proud to be a part of this team paving the way for the future.”It should be noted that our very own Erin Phillips who now plays for the Adelaide Crows in the AFLW had a celebrated career in the WNBA for the Dallas Wings where she now works behind the scenes and is regarded as one of the best sports woman in the world. If the AFLW ever has its own version of the Brownlow Medal, it's likely to be named after her, such is her level of dominance and teampersonship.
