Have been playing around with 2016 and really like it.

None of the new s***e like Cortana or the Store etc. and proper control of updates. It has the new Windows 10 look and feel. Makes my Windows 10 machine feel like a win32 OS compared to NT back in the day.

I'm very much considering blowing away my desktop and using it instead. Any compatibility issues or bad desktop use cases anyone knows of?

Does it have the latest DirectX stuff so you can game on it? Presumably it's much more expensive than the desktop Win10 editions though?

Win10 has a bunch of features I want but I can't bring myself to use it yet because of all the rage about the monitoring/telemetry/adstuff.

2016 is so Windows 10 1507. 2019 is out now. so Windows 2019 is like Windows 10 1809 but server related.

It only affected a very small use case scenario. Still not good, but the impact was over hyped IMO. They can tell how many people they impacted by the metrics they collect :D

Decided to checkout the privacy settings because of this thread/trog's comment. Windows 10 decided I needed a bunch of games installed on my computer including Candy Crush and Minecraft.

What the f***.

Yes, is good.

Forced restarts are still a problem, and sconfig while good, is still an afterthought. How about a gui version? Not everyone is advanced enough to use PS.

Windows 2000 was only 'good' for a brief period of time, and even then, was only 'good' because of how much utter tripe microsoft had dished out to everyone since the launch of '95.

Anyone who had to support W2K server through and past EoL and EoS knows that it made Windows 2003 (even non-R2) look positively modern and predictable by comparison.

My favourite Server OS of all time is 2008 R2 SP1. Over all the assessable metrics of a products lifecycle simply nothing even comes close to 2008 R2.

I argue that they should have named 2008 R2 something entirely different because of simply how radically different to 2008 it was. I actually would argue that there was a bigger jump between 2008 and 2008 R2 than there was between 2008 R2 and 2012, cosmetics aside.

2008 R2 was the ultimate balance of lean, stable, feature packed, stable, well supported, stable, cleanly designed, stable, and lastly, stable.

2016 is alright too, yeah. I spose.
