I'm looking at the NBN map and there's coverage by "other providers" around said areas. Does anybody live around there and have NBN? Is it cable? How are speeds?
I can't believe how hard it is to find NBN near-ish Brisbane CBD right now :\
I think Optus cable (with speedpack) is still faster than NBN, isn't it?
Slower upload though.
cable has horrible upload speeds though.
What are you saying nope to?
I get 100mbps (off peak) but yeah slow upload.
I think cable also suffers congestion more than NBN, but I could be wrong.
cable isnt faster than nbn (depending on nbn plan)
nbn can suffer from congestion, id be surprised if its bad as optus after people turn on netflix though.
What sort of upload speeds are we talking?
check your nbn provider for upload speeds.
else its less than 1.5mpbs which is completely useless for everything.
Well that's s***house. I'm trying to find somewhere to move where I can stream, and effectively upload files around 3gb to Youtube without having to do it overnight.
u need nbn, else you in trouble.
Its not "NBN" it is fibre, i get 4mbyte/s/0.1mbyte. You'll have to google/whirlpool plans as its specific to that one area due to the exchange being demolished by lady cilento a few years back.
Much of West End and Highgate Hill has fibre to the home. My mates used to live there in a flat with it. I've been looking at units to rent in that exact area and most of the places I looked at had fibre, though some had HFC/cable. (edit: could just be coincidence that the places I looked at were fibre, so maybe "much" is an exaggeration, but certainly I saw way more NBN fibre then than elsewhere on the west side - basically zero fibre in Toowong/Indro/Auchenflower).
I would definitely be looking in this area if fibre was a requirement & you want to be on that side of town.
The NBN address thingy I have found pretty good at telling you what technology is available in specific addresses.
yeah i thought West End had the good NBN
No that part of the area is part of Telstra Fiber which is 100 down 5 up. This happen when they remove the exchange to extend the hospital. Only people who sell it is Telstra and Exetel use too not too sure if they still do.
Even 5 up is relatively slow. To be able to stream and upload I'd really want at least 10-20 up :(
