When it comes to immersion VR is still on the cutting edge. And when something as simple as turning off the lights and playing at night can increase the impact of a horror title immeasurably then you know the genre and the tech go hand in hand. And as far as cinematic horror goes, they don't much more intense and creepy than The Exorcist.
The Exorcist: Legion is a new episodic series that tells a new story based during the timeline of The Exorcist III film. Chapter 1: First Rites and Chapter 2: Idle Hands are due for release November 22 for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift via Steam VR. A PlayStation VR release is also coming.
“This franchise deserves to be done right and the only way to have a truly definitive experience for such a story is in virtual reality,” said Douglas Nabors, CEO of Fun Train. “Playing a non-VR horror game is one thing when you’re safely behind a monitor. But, when you’re living the horror up close and personal, The Exorcist: Legion VR will resonate with you for years to come.”
Indeed, and this looks creepy as hell. So yeah, not sure about replaying chapters to find hidden content when your heart rate is through the roof.
