It actually looks pretty awesome. The skyboxes/environments look rad. I'd be much more interested if the default mode was CTF or they were pushing some other teamplay angle

i got an invite to the beta because the aus servers are finally up. it's surprisingly good however i'm still not sold on the abilities. it's mad fun bunny hopping around as anarki.

The speed of the gameplay has my old balls tingling that's for sure, and when I saw the nose of the rocket launcher I swear I got a tear in the eye. :) I'm not 100% sold on the 'Champions' angle though, seriously fight like a man/bear/pig, take your rocket to the face like everyone else...none of this disappearing bulls***/shield nonsense. EVADE ME, don't stand there like some big girlie, girl and hide behind a shield or vanish and prance around behind me and frag my arse from behind....FIGHT ME!

Debbie downer over here but I didn't like it. The Champions f*** things up too much and I don't think they've been designed well. The weapon switch delay is doing my head in as well, it feels like they've done it to force you to use champion abilities or some s***? I dunno, if I do the risky bounce up to the RL on Q3DM6 and I land and get the rocket launcher I want to be able to turn around and smack the lightning gun c*** straight back with that s***. But most of the time I just looked at him dumbly because I didn't have a weapon out yet.

As trog said the default mode should be CTF. Here's the thing for me. You can't make a Champions/Heroes game thing and then not have objectives. Because you relegate your heroes to powers that don't have objective usage. If you design heroes for TDM you're just making two types - those who live better and those who kill better. Because the objective in TDM is to kill, so your hero powers either enable or deny that. It leads to s***** uninteresting heroes. Which I mean, case in point with Quake Champions. I also don't like different health pools and s***. Wait so my hero's ability is that they start off with less than enough health to survive a f***** rocket to the face until they acquire 40 points of armour (and they can go invisible or whatever)? That's dumb as balls. The upside is they have a smaller hitbox but I don't think anyone would trade a permanent loss of 50 health for a smaller hitbox?

And yeah the netcode or the hitreg is for s***. I couldn't work out which it was, but I was being accused of warping everywhere with a ping of 2 (of course all I could see was everyone else warping). And numbers pissing out of enemies, all that means is I can f*****g see when I'm painting some motherf***** with my LG and they're not losing any health. Or I can see that my rocket some how passed through them when it should have hit. After an initial burst of nostalgia I grew to hate it pretty quick.

Oh and the Bethesda Launcher can eat my d***.

Joaby, you can bind weapons in the menu to keys to make it easier to switch weapons quicker.

This is a beta, so I'm not sure what you guys expect. I still think they do need to make a few changes but it has a solid foundation, I'm heading out to Bethesda HQ in Sydney tomorrow to have a chat with them about Quake Champions. Will be interesting to find out more detail if they have any!

I'm having fun with it and haven't touched Overwatch really since I've started playing the beta. Although I prefer this type of action compared to Overwatch which is a bit slow and boring to me.

Ahhh Python I was gonna go to that chat as well, but they scheduled it on the same night as something else.

I wound up binding RL to shift and LG to Q which is how i used to have it. Was ok, was just an adjustment.

I know it's a beta, I guess we don't really agree that it has a solid foundation? I have grave concerns about the nature of the champion powers. I don't think they should exist in FFA because it's impossible to balance and I don't like how they're implemented with TDM in mind.

Ask them what involvement Certain Affinity has in the development.

CTF on almost symmetrical maps without ultimates, and with fixed spawn locations for items and players tends to make for better large team formats I recon.

Chaotic game play (ultimate's, player and items spawn randomly, and TDM) more suited to the lone wolves.

Easier to sell games to the chaotic lone wolves. There's more of them.
