Hi all,

To get to the point can anyone suggest a store in Melbourne where I would be able to test a gaming headset before I buy it and Is that even an option?

Where I live (Cape Town) your lucky if you can even find a store that u can view the box, so I order my peripherals etc online. That presents a real problem if it's a headset though, because there are so many factors to consider before deciding and when your limited to online reviews and opinions its just difficult to make an informed purchase.

I'm currently sitting with a brand new pair of hyper X cloud 2's - I agonized for months before making a decision to get them - only to find when I started using them that they have no mic monitoring / sidetone (let's you hear your own voice). I couldn't believe that having this feature was even a thing worthy of considering a product feature, for me it's just common sense, without that when u speak on comms whilst gaming it sounds like your talking with your fingers in your ears and the main issue with that is its so tiring it spoils my experience.

Anyway if anyone can suggest somewhere that I can at best test the headset or at least where there are good sales staff that know what their on about I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks, Merry Christmas and ps I love Melbourne

What? So you want to hear your own voice? Right click your volume control panel in windows task bar, click recording devices and select the device you want to record with and click the properties button. Now click the "Listen" tab and turn it on. It's been a feature of windows since like I dunno probably windows 95.

The listen to device feature only worked properly on Windows xp. From Windows 7 onwards it causes a serious delay, it's terrible.

Thx anyway.

I don't get a serious delay; maybe a tiny one that is barely noticable.

I thought JB Hi Fi sometimes had headsets out to try but I can't remember.
