For any fans of Electric Six out there, they've kicked off the kickstarter campaign that they've been putting together, in aid of producing a live concert DVD. Plenty of rewards offering just the dvd with a few bonuses, or all sorts of unique E6 swag at the higher levels.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/e6absolutetreasure/electric-six-live-dvd-absolute-treasure Some pretty cool stuff at the upper levels, like you can request a song for them to cover and they'll do it and send it to you, or an 'Eternal lifetime membership' that gets you free entry at any of their shows ever. Sadly not much good to us over here since most of their shows are in the US. If I lived over there though, I'd seriously consider the $500 one for: you get to come on stage with Electric Six at a show of our mutual choosing and play the cowbell during "Gay Bar" with the band. Can you imagine how you'll even be able to stay standing, due to the emotion sweeping over your body? You'll also get to keep the cowbell, which will be stenciled and painted with the words "Gay Bar" |
Pay me $500 and I'll go get you a cowbell with gaybar written on it.

so going by wiki as i had no idea either, a successful band who have made and sold 8 albums over the last decade, want other people to pay for their live dvd.....

Yeah, I know, whats up with that, next we'll have successful games companies asking for millions via kickstarter to fund their games.
|
does that actually happen though?
i thought it was mostly smaller companies or guys that have formed some break away development team and trying to get off the ground next activision will want kickstarter to produce the next cod game - would probably get off the ground too |
Double Fine, Obsidian, Gas Powered Games, have all run kickstarter campaigns for multi-million dollar projects, and thats just off the top of my head, theres probably more.
I don't really have a problem with it though, its just a different business model, and probably more socially acceptable than asking people to pre-order it before it exists. Plus you get the opportunity to snag a bit of memorabilia or something cool if you're a hardcore fan and want to chip in a bit extra. |
got my ticket, should check out some other albums they've done since that one they had
|
watching those 2 songs i understand why they need kickstarter
