Activision boss, Bobby Kotick, is no stranger to the soundbite spotlight. The Acti head has never shied from speaking his mind, and games journos have never shied from running with whatever he says, regardless of its merit.

However, in a profile on the man run recently in the New York Times (thanks Joystiq), Kotick candidly spoke about how easy it was for him to make the decision to fire former Infinity Ward heads, Frank West and Vince Zampella, saying that "you find out two executives are planning to break their contracts, keep the money you gave them and steal 40 employees. What do you do? You fire them".

Probably more newsworthy though is his thoughts and reaction to film studios knocking down the Activision door to turn Call of Duty into a film franchise.
CALL OF DUTY may look like a movie, but Mr. Kotick has little interest in turning it into one — and has turned down several studios’ requests. He says movies based on video games rarely please devoted fans and could taint the brand.
For once a piece about Kotick is much less inflammatory, and actually quite an interesting read.

That was a good read. I always find it interesting to see how the big well known companies started from small garage setups to what they are now. Wish I was smart enough to pull that off.

Also, the link you posted starts at page four, not the beginning of the article.
